Hey /o
Anyone here DD a miata during the winter? I'm thinking about getting one and it will have to be parked outside since I dont have a garage. I live in PA too.

just make sure you have snow tires and the torsen differential. they're great on hard packed snow, but anything over 5 or 6 inches of powder is a no go.
the balanced chassis is great for low grip situations. it's easy to recover from both oversteer and understeer. With a hardtop they're even more comfy in the winter. the heater is also good.
Yes, winter tires and you are set
What should i do to my car to protect it from salt? I live in central nj
Would I be retarted for painting my 98' Celica like the ae86 from initial D because my car is frontwheel drive? also doing it with a couple mates so would cost around $200~ aud
>>13924149
>>13924149
Don't paint a Celica.
Don't paint a car for 200$ with your mates
Don't paint a car based on an anime car
The end
>>13924149
For a shits and giggles car sure. If it's your DD don't.

why? i painted my fiero the same way and it came out okay plus it was a learning experience.
I'm so fucking sick of the car "scene".
Apparently criticizing someone's car is never ever allowed, and if you do you're just a "hater" that's jealous. Why are we not allowed to point out things on peoples cars? Everyone in the car "scene" gets super upset and sensitive when you say anything that isn't along the lines of "wow I fucking love your car man pls let me suck your dick". Sure, people that know me will know I don't like it if someone talks shit on my car, but I defend my car, I don't attack...

You're just as bad
That's the swaggot scene, not the car scene.

>he doesnt expect stancefags to get defensive when confronted.
its basic human nature.
Thats said if you dont like those people why hang out with them?
this is some meta level "stop liking what i dont like"
so how badly will i fuck up my shit if i use a blockoff plate to block my bov port off for maximum tsutsutsu?

I don't know. We don't know shit about cars here.
That sound is called compressor surge. It's generated when the air has nowhere to escape, thus spinning the turbo backwards and making that sound. This is horrible for the lifespan of the turbo and can quickly snap the turbine's shaft.
>>13923914
hey, no. bad op.
So we all want to build a car but not all of us have the funds... How crazy would it be if /g/ set up like a lottery system where we would all donate a $1-5 and the winner would get that money for the build? I think the idea is promising.
What do you guys think? Obviously we can brainstorm some more if you guys are really interested in something like this. We would set a limit of course so it would be a budget build nothing too crazy nothing to weak.
Y'all niggas gonna get shut down by the Feds for one reason or another.
I'll take care of the money side of things

Is this illegal in any way lol
I just fucking got why the show becomes so stall after the 4th stage and at the 1st stage. This might apply to wangan nights too. Street racing is JUST a plot device for these kind of shows. You could make an anime entirely made out of racing and it would be the most boring shit ever. The only reason why this anime is interesting, and if you check your "favorite stages" you will know why, its because sometimes the anime becomes a slice of life in wich the idea of racing takes a backseat (no pun intended... Ok maybe a little).
When the anime focuses about...

It ruins that car IMO
Are engines designed to cut out after an accident? It seems like whenever you see a car crash in fiction the engine turns itself off, even if there isn't any damage to the engine itself.
Cars will usually have a fuel cut system that shuts off the fuel pump in an accident. It's usually so that if the fuel lines come loose in an accident and there's a fire, the gasoline isn't still pumped.
>>13923364
Ah, that makes sense. Thank you.
>>13923412
Also, if the vehicle is manual transmission, odds are your foot will end up off the clutch and the revs will drop down to the point (even if the engine isn't damaged) where it just stalls and dies anyway.
Sup /o/
Just got 1000$, gonna spend it on a new P.O.S. weekend warrior. Using it for street race purposes. Anything I need to look out for in a super cheap car to make sure its not gonna blow up at the starting line? I'm going to be building it a bit obviously but I don't want to miss some glaring problem in the car that I can't fix.
Thank
>>13923312
Make sure the car is cold when you go to start it the first time. Whip it around a little, let it warm up, make sure you aren't overheating and the oil and coolant stay in the places where they are supposed to be.
Otherwise if you're spending $1000 and are totally gonna fuck this thing up, look for one with a decent drivetrain that isn't rusted out. You can save a lot of money buying something with beat up bumpers and seats a little torn. And you can replace that stuff easilt with junkyard parts...

They didn't make enough crazy shit like the Hellcat back in the 90s and early 2000s. They should've taken every car in their lineup and offered an option with the Snek V10 in it. Even if nobody bought them, at least it would draw interest to the brand.
FCA should sell Jeep to Ford. So we can have Jeeps we can actually drive after the warranty runs out. Thinking about it now, Jeep had to totally keep Chrysler afloat with Wrangler and Cherokee sales for years and years.
Post what you're driving through the winter.
>not having a secondary vehicle to keep unnecessary wear and tear on your nice aut/o/
>tfw driving my daily year round because poor
S10 single cab with the 4cyl.
Surprisingly it has some balls with the winter tires I have. On Saturday when it was snowing I went to an empty parking lot and became takumi. No weight in the bed and the snow was halfway up my tires, I was actually surprised I didn't get stuck.
I can't wait until the next snow storm, I'm going to have a lot of fun.

I always wanted one of those. DAT sexy 80's box
So I found a 1999 M3 convertible for 6k in great shape. But I'm worried I'm too much of a poor fag to afford the upkeep. Any common issues on the E36 M3 I should be aware of before I take the plunge.

Everything. Mainly the cooling system.
Water pump will die
fan will die
thermostat will die
Also if you see a red dot above the odo reading that means the odometer has been tampered with.

Did you get a new car or something? seems like most things I'd do to a newly acquired car, might want to change the cabin air filter, those things can get filthy as fuck
