There's an inverse relationship with temperature and overall quality of a country/region. Exceptions include Russia

So, my grandad is working on restoring this. I know literally nothing about working on cars, is it worth me helping him out working on this to learn a bit?
Absolutely if you want to learn.
>>13979639
Yes. When he dies you will get the car.
BTW: that's a fucking great car - Spitfire MkIV/1500

British garages are so shit!
How are you supposed to work on your car!
You cant even open the fucking doors without hitting the walls.
What an absolute waste of time.

Twns of thousands invested for hundreds of thousands gained, doesnt seem terrible.
Speedsters were always worth a shitton of money
What a difference 17 years make.
Why can't I push start my car? I used to be able to pop the clutch to start it but it wont anymore. Anyhow, car starts normally via the key but there have been instances where it would be helpful. Batt reads 12.5V and alternator 13.9V. starter related? flywheel? pls halp br/o/s

Your battery is failing if it is reading 12.5V after charging.

Anyone every had a tire bust in there face?
>>13979466
Not a car, but a bike tube popped while I was airing it up (and it wasn't even close to max PSI) and I could barely hear out of my right ear for an hour.
>>13979471
I had a car tire pop in my face my ear hurt for a couple hours but i could hear fine the person next to be went deaf in a ear for a while
>>13979471
It didn't hurt my ears, but I had that happen.
so my mitsu is about to bite the dust, but shes lasted me great.
'96 mirage, 300K miles (of which i put 230 on in 4 years)
I need to get a "new car" but have no idea what to look for, tottaly down to learn manual, i used to play a good chunk of racing games/sims, and always raced manual (with a nice logitech 3 peddel/shifter setup) just never droven manual in real life.
Almost got a shelby charger with a daytona engine/turbo, but he ended up gutting that for another project vehicle. (which was sad, he's been a dodge mechanic for 20 yearsw,...

Huh, my dad owns a '95 Mirage LS Coupe, not the most common car, did you buy it used?
Hey /o/ first time poster from /out/. Need advice. I want a convertible to drive this summer. Have 2 options. I own a 65 mustang convertible. Needs about 16k in parts and labor to be awesome again (i have owned this car since 1997).
Option 2: there is a 1998 mustang cobra convertible for sale nearby for 12k. May be able to get owner down to 10k. Cobra is stock with only 41,000 miles.
What should I do /o/?
Fix the 65 or go for the Cobra?
Pic not related
Bump for reply.
Neither can turn, so go with the '65 for coolness factor. The '98 is just kinda a douchemobile.
>>13979395
The '65 will be worth more then 16K when you're done with it, and it'll appreciate provided you don't ruin it. It also looks better, and eventually you can swap in a fourspeed and a built 351/383 stroker.
The '98 will not appreciate, and looks like shite.
Bith aren't pinnacles of handling - but the '65 is the better deal.
Is there a proper way to have your legs and knees and feet when you drive? If I drive for more than 10 minutes I start getting knee pain in the pedal leg. Any idea why?
>>13979212
shitty seating position.
Got a friend with an outlander sport, he bitches and moans that his car gives me knee pain. We all made fun of him for it.
I finally drove it on a road trip, my knees felt uncomfortable and weird. So I can see how he has pain.
Car has shitty seating design.
>>13979212
You're too close to the pedals.
few things might be wrong:
- seat is too close to the dash
- you give your feet too much supination, causing the knee to hurt
- you have some kind of joint dissability and need to see the doc
Just quit my job because I lost my licence
what do I do now? I thought about getting welfare but that's too much of a pain in the ass to get.
>quitting
>not getting purposely fired
it's like you don't want unemployment checks.
How did you lose your license?
>>13979165
I needed a good reference for future employment. I've never been fired from a job and I don't intend to ever get fired in the future.
I wouldn't be coming to you guys if I wasn't really desperate. But this is the timing job from Hell.
I bought a '94 Celica GT for like, $500 on craigslist, expecting it to break, I didn't really give a shit.
It worked for like, a month and a half, and then the timing belt broke, and a shop quoted me at $1900 to replace it, which I wasn't hip to because I spent $500 on the car.
So, taking (nearly) everything off of the timing cover took like 45 minutes, but then this pulley bolt (pic related) has stopped me dead in my tracks. I've...

lol what
any shop should charge less to do that job
also is this an interference engine?
if its not, do the trick where you stick the breaker bar on it and use the starter to turn it over
>>13979096
It is luckily a non-interference engine
The problem with that is, the cylinders and the cams aren't aligned, and right now the part of the belt that isn't broken is seized under the tensioner, so I can't get the belt off of the cam gear to align it with the crank.
Fuck, if the belt hadnt snapped you couldve bump-started it to break it loose, thats what i did on my truck.
Have you tried locking down the breaker bar against the ground or body and using an air impact on it?

horrible center of gravity

How does it balance with an odd number of cylinders? Uneven weighted crank or something? Is that a long term issue?
Any people from Poland browsing /o/?
I'm going to visit Tricity (Gydnia) soon by my car and have a few questions.
How are the street conditions in Poland? I drive an E90 (deepened on the front), will I have problems?
How many speeding cameras/polices are on the road? If they catch you speeding, is it possible to bribe them?
Is car theft as common as people say it? My car isn't insuranced against theft since the rate would be insane and I store it in a garage (would cost ~1000€/year while worth is ~19k€). I will have to park it on the streets there,...

>Is car theft as common as people say it?
It's not the 90s anymore.
>Is it even worth the use the car instead of public transport?
It's woth it literally everywhere outside of major cities.
>>13979586
>It's not the 90s anymore
Could you clearify that? So shouldn't I be worried?
>NB is like 95% similar to the NA
>NB prices are going down while NA prices are going up
Is there any good reason to choose the NA over the NB when buying a Miata in this day and age other than pop-ups? Both are well below $5K now.
>>13978796
>both are well below $5k
hahahahhahahahahahhaa
>>13978800
Do honestly believe you cannot find an NB Miata for under 5k? I see them go up for 3k recently.
>>13978808
maybe where you are. I like in rust fuck Canada and prices are still ~8k for anything decent. Most "rust free" go around 10k.

They aren't.
