Is it more humane to kill an animal you hit with your car or just leave it there?

You gotta remember that a broken leg for a deer or something is different than one for a human. If we get hurt, we can rest and eat painkillers. If they get hurt like that, they have to try and survive in the wild like that in pain until something eats them or they starve.

I've hit rabbits and foxes that have survived and that I've put down with knives, but being a hunter I've also taken them back home to use for meat or the pelts
For larger animals; they will need to be put down in 99% of the cases. If this happens and the animal runs off you contact your local wildlife authority or similar, notify them of the circumstance, location and so on
Stuff like this is a reason why I tend to keep a small pistol securely locked in my car when I'm back home due to the amount...
