/o/, give me a rundown on Volvos. I'm talking 90's and 00's models, none of the new stuff. The look pretty luxurious and seemed to be priced very attractively. Are they reliable and would you recommend? I'm particularly interested in the s60 and wagons.
>>15367194
I am also curious. I'm planning on making a turbo brick 940 over here in Seattle. I've been reading online and for $500 you can get 200+hp and for double about 350 easy.
Apparently the early 90s model 940 and 960s have the strongest engine but I also hear that the newer s60 and 70 models are very reliable and cheap.
Turbo bricks is a good forum for research, that's what I've been reading.

The 940's are actually real nice to wrench on. Having a proper lift or pit will help you with some of the things you need to do, though. (Changing oil on the gearbox and diff, replacing the fuel filter) If you treat them moderately well, they can be pretty forgiving cars. They have decent torque and comfort when you use them as daily drivers. I can definetely recommend them if you want a rwd alternative to an 850.
I own a -01 V40 with the "big" engine.
What I can tell you about Volvos from this era is that they are still pretty easy to wrench on (I replaced my radiator beam in about 4 hours and I am complete noob). Mechanically solid, still tank -ish in the build and with godlike seats. They are however all wrong wheel drive and are generally not very exiting. And the mileage is bad on the turbos
What could be the reason its on the same trailer as a totaled Chrysler 300 and Mercedes w124
Looks like it was broken into. I see the cops were dusting for fingerprints.
So maybe it was joyridden and the frame is wrecked. Who knows.
Because they often ship cars from multiple customers on the same trailer. However, shipping a car like that in anything but an enclosed trailer is dumb as shit. Hope he likes rock chips and fluid dripping from cars above it.

wtf just buy a damn volvo if you just want a box to travel in. Why do you want bih 4x4?
Any ~2012 Genesis owners here? Both the coupe and sedan seem interesting enough, but they are very different. How do they compare in terms of performance and handling? I like the looks of the sedan and the comfort but don't feel like driving a land boat.
They are two different vehicles.
Buy a mustang instead ok?

Hey /o/, let's talk about AI smart cars and ethics.
You are driving your brand new AI car, at a considerable speed. So you decided to turn the street, and then OMG!!!
>Theres 2 kids and their mother crossing the streets
But there's walls or an abysm in either side, and you can't simply slow down because omg the car is in a fucking moral dilemma!!!
What will you do when this day comes, /o/?
>Preserve the life of the kids and fall in the abysm/crash in the wall and probably die

what the fuck is an abysm
>>15365523
the AI car shouldnt be going fast round a blind corner to begin with. and nor should a human driver. shit and unoriginal question
>>15365551
Pedestrians shouldn't be allowed on a road with blind corners to begin with. Or any road. They should cross on a bridge or under a tunnel, not on a crosswalk, and sidewalks should have chest-height barriers discouraging entering the roadway.
I want this "normies have the right of way everywhere" shit to go away and efficient transport to reign supreme. Safety and travel times would improve simultaneously.
The current system is about as retarded as building ground-level highways through...

Real World Experiment on Why FWD is inferior compared to RWD and AWD.
So I just finished a long experiment in the real world on why FWD is inferior.
It's so simply you don't even need to own a car.
Now, I want you to get a diecast toy car. Most any will do. I used a Scion FR-S on the floor of a Walgreens.
I want you to try racing it around.
You naturally put your end near the rear end of the car didn't you? That says a lot in and of itself, but isn't the end of the experiment.
Now after hooning with your hand on the rear,...

What's the highest octane rated fuel you can find in your country? 99 in the UK
If you go to the right places (speed shops) you can get 110 Octane at £12/G
It's pricey as fuck but well worth it in race cars
>>15365372
BP ultimate is 102, tescos super unleaded is 99
You do realize 99 in the UK is equivalent to 93 in the U.S., right?
I've been driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T for about two years now. I've put about 11,000 miles on it, 230,000 miles total.
It works fine. Transmission is bad, 2nd and 3rd grind when shifting and downshifting. Paint is beyond redemption at this point (cheap paintjob).
I'm trying to look for something similar to it (manual of course). I have a potential budget of about 10k, 15k if I'm lucky.
Any suggestions?

I recommend you a 3000gt vr4
You have to know how to spot a good one.
You can get a very clean and maintained 1st gen for about 10K.
2nd gens are more expensive and you could get a good one for 15K.
Of course there are other good cars, you could get an MR2.
Or if you want a bit more space, why not an e36 M3.
You have several options anon. Have you seen anything you like?
>>15365772
This, save up some money to get a MINT vr4 so long as its not your daily driver

POWER OF SOUND
Daily reminder that if you unironically drive a car with a down facing exhaust your wife/girlfriend is more than likely sleeping with other men behind your back.
Why the fuck does this matter?

Both are gay, real men have long upwards exhausts
Is there something innate in women which makes them horrible at driving? I've only been driving for about 3 years but I've been in so many close calls and when I look at the driver, it's a women. I even got in an accident once and it was the woman's fault. What is with them? Not trying to be sexist or offend anybody, I'm just so perplexed.
Attention spans.
Too busy with other things
My mother happens to be the best Driver in the family with not a single accident that was her fault or traffic violation (other than minor speeding) in her 40+ years of driving although maybe its different for her because people had a different mind-set during her time unlike now with all the distraction.
Did people always make the same incompetent mistakes due to minor distractions like they do today?
I've never been in an accident or committed a traffic violation either so maybe i can break her record.
What are your favorite pre-80s cars?
