Hi, I am looking at a new car and really love the Golf. I have the opportunity to purchase them both at the same price of $12,000 NZD but am torn as to what to choose. Do I go for the older Golf GTI (80k kms) to the newer 2012 Mazda 3 at 115k kms or vice versa. I put pics of both cars in the thread. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers m8's
Here is Mazda
2007 gti has the fsi motor which has the infamous cam follower defect. tsi doesn't but is plagued with water pump defects

Do you reckon I get the Golf as a lovechild with all its problems or save my self the hassle with the Mazda?
Cheers for engine info btw :)
What do you think of my idea
I don't think you realize how much air a car needs.
Volvo is already doing this, but without a pedal

So does the trans-pacific partnership open up the possibility of getting cars directly from Japan?
My dream is to some day own a Toyota Century built with the driver's side on the left, in a country it would actually be worth to drive it (USA). Is this possible soon?
We've been getting cars directly from Japan for many decades anon.

Even if by some miracle that safety and emissions standards become unilateral between the EU, Japan and the states.
Those companies will still segregate those markets and keep some models in only those markets that sell the best in.
import laws into British Columbia have been easing, so some rice fags have been importing a few right hand drive cars there for years. Word is there is some price break for imported cars made before 1990. A few right hand drive skylines and other goodies have been showing up in Seattle as a result.
Sup /o/ in the market for a WRX between 2001-2005, is it worth spending fuckton more money for the STI? This would be my daily driver that would stay stock, Thoughts?
>>14168496
STi is too barebones for a DD. It's also easier and cheaper to modify your WRX to go as fast as an STi, and the EJ20 has less problems than the 2.5 anyway.
>>14168518
Almost double in price for a clean STI guess it's for the best to get a base WRX and fix it up little by little. They're just hard to find and overpriced, should I avoid any with over 150k miles?
>>14168496
>STi is too barebones for a DD.
w-what
I am thinking of getting a mezger 997 turbo with pdk. Will it help me get laid?
>PDK
And buying any car to get laid is full retard, as are you OP
>>14168415
>Porsche
>Not manual
Uh... she won't be impressed.
I have girls start conversations and say they love my cool car at work, on dates, anywhere. I drive a Miata.
I'm pretty sure any car that isn't a Ford Focus copy paste standard car that's boring can get extra attention and it won't get you laid. You gotta do that part.
Nothing wrong with conversation though to seem more interesting.
>>14168415
>buying a car to get laid
You're a fucking idiot.
Just bought a used 2006 Volvo s60 2.5t. Anyone know anything about this car. Personal reviews. Reliable? Have you owned a Volvo before?
why are there so many volvo fags on this board
I own a V70.
I hope you're ready for electronics and transmission to become an issue at 200k miles.
>>14168150
its got about 88,000 on it right now. am i fucked?
Been car shopping and reading kbb reviews for several days and still no closer to a decision. Trouble-free reliability is my main concern.
So let's play a game.
Myself and anyone else wanting to participate will post cars and others can critique/rate them.
>2005
>Toyota RAV4
>4WD
>93k miles
>$8200
apologies if this is double-post
guess I don't need to greentext as long as the file name doesn't get cut-off.
What do you guys think of this car? I haven't really heard much about them saw this in local ads. http://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/2603510?ad_cid=1
Would they be expensive as fuck to maintain?
>>14167651
How much is the asking price OP?
As long as you have double the asking price, (half for the car and then half for "maintenance") then it's a fine car.
>>14167680
So you're saying they're unreliable
What kind of car has a front end like this? Late 90s or early 2000s
>>14167597
Cobra replica or a Hyunda Elantra
Thunderbird senpai
So I'm really starting to get into cars, and I finally have my own house and enough money to play around with a project car.
Question is, what would be the best car for tuning? I want a car that I can buy for ~20K and tune it so that it can compete with 100K cars
>>14167573
>and I finally have my own house
not saying I'm jelly but jelly.
>>14167573
>so that it can compete with 100K cars
compete in what?
appearance?
performance?
>>14167581
>two unique posters
Fuck off OP, this samefaggotry is beyond shameless
Janitor is a fucking kike and didn't get the god damned joke.
French cars are literally the best because they did no wrong in WWII.
It's just another excuse to buy a real car that supports liberty and freedom.
Unlike the nazi collaborating other car companies that put the world on the brink of destruction.
>>14167284
I'd love to own a French 911
>>14167289
Honestly does anyone do a happy rally car better than Peugot?
Remember, if it's not French. It's not worth talking about.
>>14167298
They made the happiest world record holder.
>putting premium fuel in a non premium car
>>14167231
I just filled up with regular on my JDM high comp motor for the first time today. U lyk dat OP?
>>14167231
i use the highest octane available
but then again my motors internals are FILTHY
As someone who has taken "Organic Chemistry for Automotive Engineers" I can tell you all the MOST important thing about choosing octane:
â–² The best octane to use is the lowest octane which never knocks. â–²
Higher octane is harder to combust, therefore by using a higher octane than necessary, you are actually losing a small amount of power and a few dollars [or other currency] each fill-up.
Which one, /o/?

Motor trend- they have good YouTube shows like hot rod garage and roadkill.
Motor Trend has a good YT channel. Don't read their mags though.
Anyone else feel guilty for not buying cars that originate from the country you live in? Or is it just all propaganda?
Eg. Be American and not buying Ford, GM, Tesla or Dodge(Maybe American)?
If I buy a GM, I'm probably getting a car built in Mexico. If I buy Honda, I'm probably getting a car built in Canada. So by buying Japanese, I'm supporting the local economy.
Not that I care about that shit, I'll probably get an import next.
>>14166806
Nope. I buy stuff (cars, etc.) based on the quality and value of the product, not the country of origin, brand, etc.
>>14166824
This
If people started buying cars for reasons like these (some do, but thank fuck they are a minority) that would give less incentive to innovate and compete with your competitors. Sure, you'll have some competition between the brands in your nation if your nation is large enough to support several manufacturers, but you run the risk of creating an opportunity fo the individual brands to take a segment each. An example would be Tesla doing all electric vehicles, Ford doing all the pickups, Chevrolet...

I know its FWD and heavy and blah blah blah

How does this car stack against the 6th gen Civic, KLDE V6 Mazda 323, AE92, 1993 Prelude Si, etc.
>>14166642
