Hey /o/. Found an old guy with a 2005 Outback 2.5 parked in his driveway. Turns out it needs a new rear hatch, and he says it runs fine but needs something related to the timing belt that costs $2000 to fix. I'm assuming cylinder head gaskets being a Subaru.
So I could get this thing for $500. Worth it? I'd probably flip it after I fixed it, but I suppose I could drive the thing if I was willing to lower myself to lesbian flannel life.

$500 is definetly worth it. Whats its condition otherwise? Is it an XT like in that picture (turbo)? Timing belts are shitty to change on subaru boxer engines despite what faggots on /o/ claim to say. Since they're going balls deep into changing it, theyre gonna change the water pump and seals so thats the running cost to do it.
Head gaskets arent issue on that generation so its only maintenance hes probably talking about if it still runs.
Sourcing the hatch will be hard since those generation...

It's a naturally aspirated. About 100K on the clock. Car looks really nice although the passenger seat was eaten by a dog.
>Head gaskets arent issue on that generation
I would disagree with you there. Not quite the same issue as 2000-ish models but The Internet says it's still a huge problem, worse in certain ways.

Subaru Outback is chain driven
Why are these fuckers (4Runner) so expensive?
A 2010 with 100k miles on it will go for 20k.
Toyotas hold their value so well, yet a car like the Xterra which is comparable has a dirt shit resell rate
>>15379407
Because they're good off-roaders stock and they have a ton of aftermarket. And you're right, an Xterra or Frontier ProX4 will destroy a 4Runner off-road
Toyota reliability meme
>>15379407
Because that car will easily (with basic care) last another 150k
>safe reliable family car that isn't a minivan or crossover
>one of the most capable off roaring cars on the market
>Toyota reliability
Any opinions on buying an sc400?
>>15379392
In my opinion, I don't have the money for such a bourgeois purchase.
>lower middle class income.
>>15379392
Don't become SC400Guy and you'll be golden.
>>15379392
1UZ engine is gud, A340 auto transmission is meh, the 400 didn't have a manual option. Swap in a W58 and call it a day
Should I put this on my FWD car for performance?
>>15379317
The oil cooler or the fender flares?
>>15379326
is it an oil cooler or an intercooler
>>15379317
Just make sure it doesn't connect to anything for extra street cred
Can anyone tell me what the fuck this thing on my exhaust is? I can't find anything about it online
4 door 99 ek civic lx
Lol good job shingo
Its accordion like and can flex and move a lot
It's a flex pipe
Just realized we haven't had an RWB welds thread in weeks. RWB welds general
No RWB hardware general
>>15379143
or maybe exhaust?
>>15379143
Nice. Let me just grab my tools so I can start the install
So why don't American truckers ever drive something like pic related? Why always a 50ft semi-trailer?
You could have a 50 feet trailer + like 30+ft in the truck and retain the same maneuverability.
Americans are stupid
>>15379075
Probably has to do with the distances the trucks here travel and how those loads would affect efficiency.

Like clockwork
Hey guy what do you think of the 2006 Mustang?
I'm thinking of getting one for 6k. It sounds like a too good to be true deal but I've got to check it out.
Any specific issues you know or I should be aware of?
Best questions to ask the dealership? Any noob advice?
Be prepared for the time of your life. There is no better car to build memories with. When you're older and you tell people you had a mustang, they will listen to you.
slow douchey pos
might as well get a cvpi

I don't feel like typing this out for the 500th time, but just trust me on that being a horrible idea. Get an SN95 GT or look at other cars.
14K for a 30 year old salvaged, stripped, Corolla. When will they learn /o/.

Some idiot will buy it and that's what they're waiting for
god this shit is so ridiculous
i fucking hate car culture
i think i'd rather take an anti enthusiast car and make it a track toy then actually buy a car and risk the chance of being confused with these fucks
i hope they all fucking get fucekd by stephen merchant
supply and demand, someone will buy this crap. I would definitely pay 14k for an AE86 in excellent condition, modified with very high quality parts, and tuned by a skilled professional. But this is just sub par quality across the board.
Dodge Dart general?
What's the /o/tistic verdict on the dart? Thinking of buying one
>cheap as dirt
>manual
>good mpg
>sporty (kinda)
Is dodge shitty enough that I should look elsewhere?
>>15378584
>Is dodge shitty enough that I should look elsewhere?
Yes
I always see them get stuck in the snow and their shitty little FWD can't do anything about it. So if you live somewhere where Winters are heavy definitely look elsewhere. If not then do what you want.
it's going to depreciate like a rock and has horrible reliability
at least that 1.4l turbo is pretty reliable and easy to get power out of with a tune....?
Which time period had the most ugly, unreliable cars and why is it the late 90s-early 2000s?
>>15378560
maybe for amerifats. japanese machines in the 90s were invincible
>>15378565
late 90s you dipshit
>>15378569
I believe the late 90s are included in the 90s you dumbfuck

GM. A. SHIT.
And it fucking looks like every modern car that comes out.
What the fucking hell.
Why would you design cars that looks like it's literally full of shit?
What is wrong with people that they move to a house right next to a racetrack and then expect them to keep quiet? These posts are on people's front lawns all around Lime Rock.
They probably have a mental illness
It's funny, people move in to a race track and then throw a hissy fit about the noise. It's not like there are millions of other places to choose from
Reminds me of people in Bongistan who would get an apartment on top of a night club or venue and then file noise complaints until it gets shut down. It became such an issue that London lost most of it's historic and iconic concert halls and clubs before lawmakers said "wait a minute".
Because the houses there are cheap. They are cheap because of the noise.
The people who buy these houses know this, and still buy the houses expecting they can leave with the noise. They found out they can't, and now want to contain it somehow.
Does a car with a CAI, 2.5in headers/cat back and under drive pulley kit need a tune? Also general tune knowledge thread.
