Calling all motorcycle enthusiasts, I need your opinion. I'm currently the proud owner of a 2001 Suzuki SV650s. Although the bike is great through the canyons here in SoCal I've noticed that on the highways I'm struggling. Now that I have about a years worth of street riding ( + a lifetime of dirt riding) I've decided to get a 1000cc. I want to find a bike that has a mixture of both a good bike for the canyons on weekends and a good highway commuter. So far I'm considering the following bikes.
04/05 Kawasaki ninja zx-10r
05 K5 GSXR 1000
These are the only two bikes that I have found that give the most preformance for a small price. If you know of any others similar please tell me.
Bonus: if you personally know how comfortable either of these bikes or any other bikes are for long distances. ( I'm 6 feet tall )
BONUS 2x: trips names my SV

Hi /o/
I dont know much about cars, but I would like to get some advice.
I want to get a Jeep wrangler and get it customized (I am interested in prepping and survival and want to make it great for off road) BUT it will also be my primary car and will be used 90% of the time for driving in the city and meeting with clients.
Is it worth buying a new Jeep if I plan on putting money into it getting it customized? Or should I buy an older one for 1/4 of the price and then put money into it?
As I am interested in prepping I want to make it even more rugged...

>I apologize for my ignorance
This I'm afraid
What you are after is the must impractical thing for the city. A modded, lifted rock crawling jeep is one of the worst things in the city. You are way too high, suspension makes it shit, mpg is in single digits, your $500 each off road tires dont last 10k and it isn't at all comfortable.
If you want to rock crawl. Have a city car, get an old pre modded tj or cj heartbreak/divorce special from craigslist or jeep forums once the seller has finally accepted reality and decided to sell below cost.
If you really want a city jeep get a stock Rubicon, keep it stock. It's already pretty fucking rugged, with lockers and electronic sway disconnect. Get a set of city tires and swap em out when you go off for the weekend. You might just get 15mpg.
Prepping wise: if you get the rock crawler keep full bugout kit in it, with enough gas to get you where you need x2
If you get the city jeep get a tire carrier with room for 2 jerry cans or external gas tank, fill them up with premium and rotate every couple of months. Keep a get home bag inside at all times. Install a ham radio and participate in ARES.
Once you have it you will mod it as needed, it won't look dated, it will look like a fucking jeep as long as you get on trails and know your Shit.

Source - I drive this
Also if you just want it just for the looks - don't bother. Shitty cost cutting lifts, tires etc will cost you way more in repairs then brotrucks

Has anyone driven a Challenger? I've been looking at the big three cruiser cars right now (Challenger, Mustang, Camaro) and really like the body style best on Challenger, but I've heard the handling isn't great and the visibility is poor -- rumor, though. Anyone have any experience they'd like to share?
>>14647172
I've only driving the V6, but I didn't find visibility to be a problem, and as to handling it is very responsive for such a large car.
>>14647172
Driven the new R/T for a couple days.
Thing is a boat. Huge & Heavy
But really depends what you're looking for, it's comfy and fast.
Just don't expect to be throwing it around corners or something.
I'm a tall guy, visibility for me was fine.

Drive a new v6 with the 8 speed
Great highway car, shitty in the curves
V6 had a surprising amount of get up and go despite the weight
Okay guys, thought id make something interesting and check out your opinions.

And now i write this, having escaped the hellhole and broken free of the propaganda i once believed.
In victoria, you can rape and murder a baby and will be as hated as if you did a skid, due to the propaganda they push on the media.
I made this thread to highlight how they lie and fudge statistics and to also offer my condolences to those of you still not on your full license there, or even those still in victoria.
It's heaven here in USA, where there are actually tracks and those of us...

Im at my wits end, I bought my moms automatic 1995 e34 bmw 525i off of her because she needed money for her business she started like 10 years ago,
anyway long story short, I have had to replace the injector on cyl #5, (misfire) and totally replace all the seals and o rings in the transmission.
Transmission is put back in, shifts fine, stuff is ok on that end. But Now its dying at stopsigns / redlights and also if I get it good and hot it will start dying when i change from Park to Reverse or Drive.

Have you run a compression and leak down test?
> Nice and hot
First thought it bad head. But I'm also groggy from meds. Any CEL?
sounds like the kind of problems an O2 sensor or crankshaft position sensor would cause.
>>14645361
when it stalls it "chokes out" the rpms drop and it loses energy and chokes. It's not like the all of the sudden 'jerk" you get from letting out the clutch improperly on a 5 spd. Makes me think it has something to do with air fuel mixture ratio, MAF, O2 sensor, or something?
>>14645377
I ran compression test but it was while it was cold. The compression across all cyl turned out nominal. But then again I have not tested it while hot,...

What automotive books do y'all like to read/look at?
>pic related
always a good reference
The Carroll Smith series is THE set of books all automotive enthusiasts should read.
A Twist of the Wrist by Keith Code, and the sequels are an excellent place to learn how to improve your own driving. Yeah they feature motorcycles but the principles of self observation and correction are solid and transfer.
Come on, there is an actual factual thread on /o/ and it gets one reply? Is this real life?

Sounds like real life to me.
How important is it to follow the service intervals on changing spark plugs? My manual says every 3 years or 40,000 miles, whichever comes first. My car is going to turn 6 years old in October, so I was curious if I should bother.
what the fuck car has a 40k spark plug interval?
>>14645149
not until one fails

You should replace them twice to make up for the time you didn't replace them when you were recommended to.
