Anyone ever done it? What is it like? Any suggestions on how to get there if you can't afford to buy a car that can do it?
>>15395610
Not personally done but the cheapest way would be by motorcycle.
>>15395610
I've done 190 on a Yamaha R1 and just cracked 200 in a twin turbo Cobra with a Viper trans. I wasn't driving the Cobra though. at that point you're going so fast you don't even hear engine noise, just the wind.
>>15395615
What motorcycle does 200? What sane person would do 200 in a bike?
Why are 5th gen Mustangs so cheap now? You can a running one for less than $4000
>>15395571
All Mustangs depreciate like a sack of bricks. The last gens are already under 10k.
>>15395571
>v6
V6 Mustangs from forever-09 are dogshit mate. The newer ones are barely passable.
>>15395571
Because V6 versions made 210 horsepower with 4 liters of displacement.

Can we just take a moment and marvel at how perfect these cars are? Pretty much every year since its inception...even today...just solid awesomeness. Every time I go to the car show, after seeing what ever new fancy soon-to-be-broken gadgets they have over at Infiniti or BMW, I always take a minute to find the good ol LS400/460, sit inside, close the doors and feel the fucking build quality. Even when the Lexus booth hides it in the back so they can try and sell cars to people under 60, for me its a highlight of the show because every year the LS is perfect.
Just wanted...

I want one
but its styled so much like a camry
I'm just not sure I could rock it
>>15395590
Looks more like an old Avalon than Camry
>>15395639
The Avalon came after the Lexus to give a sort-of-almost-Lexus segment to Toyota.
>generally people driving japanese cars suck at it
Seriously tho, apart from oblivious Peugeot drivers, people driving Mazdas, Hondas and Toyotas are a fucking danger to the public.
Although that may be related to the fact they're usually seniors.
people driving nissans alright tho cause thats japans best brand
>>15395484
Totally forgot, Nissans too, especially since Qashqais and Jukes are usually driven by women.
>>15395494
Micras are the worst. Driven by middle-aged women and foreign old people.
Hey br/o/'s.
I have a 2012 Golf TDI manual. We got it in 2014 and it was 22k CDN from the dealer. With the emissions scandal it looks like I might get close to full money back, so I'm looking for a new car ballpark 20k.
I preferably want a manual and diesel but it seems they are few and far between. I was looking at a used BMW 328d but it looks like they don't come in automatic.
Suggestions would be great.
**Typo I meant BMW 328d only come in automatic**

Well, your options are:
....
Nothing.
Literally. Nothing in the American or Canadian market meets your needs that isn't wearing a VW badge.
Move to gasoline. You have no choice.
>>15395216
True, that's what I was afraid of.
Hello everyone,
I am a 24 year old southern california resident who just got their drivers permit. I am excited to learn to drive, but I don't know where to begin.
I need to find someone with a license to teach me, or I can just learn myself.
Are there any tips you can share for a new driver?
I am planning on heading out late tonight when the roads are less congested.
also this is muh car, will I finally get a gf with this?
Driving during the day and avoiding rush hour/lunch hour would probably be better than driving at night in the dark.

>Are there any tips you can share for a new driver?
Drive safe, drive a Twingo.
which state has the best looking license plate?
which state has the worst?
why are front plate laws so shit?
high tier: california, new york, colorado, delaware
shit tier: everything else
i'd rather have a front plate than an empty space where a front plate was meant to be
Virginia Snek plate and Texas
New Jersey Worst

I need a motor whisperer. Second time I had to rebuild this motor in three months. Had a main bearing failure. Anybody familiar with these?
you're doing something wrong.
are you getting it tanked to clear out all the oil passages? are you checking the oil pump clearances? crank thrust in spec?
even el cheapo enginetech rebuild kits will last 50k+
either it's starved for oil or something is out of spec.
>>15394285
Why the hell are you rebuilding it? Just get a reman.
>>15394285
>get a reman.
junkyard $400
Hey /o/ convince me not to buy a brand new STI.
I'm pretty interested in them, most likely going to trade in my current vehicle (once it's paid off in a year) to get one.
Buy an older Impreza and put in the same power in a 1000 pound lighter vehicle for half the cost.
>>15394245
Brand new STI's aren't worth it just get the WRX
If you want an STI get one of the jap classics, a blob or a hawkeye
NASOC/Scoobynet/Whatever local owners clubs you have will have any info you need on common issues
TL/DR Suspension damage, rust, Rust, RUST, crash damage, driven like an idiot, not maintained are the obvious ones.
Check for rod knock, coolant, oil, what oil was used, wheel bearing play, DODGY TRANNYS, dodgy gears, smoke.
its a little underpowered for it's weight and the fact that it's awd in my opinion. I mean you could buy a new brz and an off the shelf crawford turbo kit plus a set of nice tires and come in with more power and less money.
but other than that it's fine.
So due to where I work, I get a discount on new GM vehicles. Includes Chevy, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac.
What's the best vehicle I could get from them for under 30k? I believe the discount is around 5-6k off + no interest financing.

GM doesn't make any gud kars under 30 grand
6 cyl kamaro
>>15393932
GM doesn't make any good cars.
what cars are good to get laid in? most modern cars have fuckhuge center consoles. frustrating.
Trucks usually have a lot of room in the back seat. Or you can go with a single row with a bench seat.

Sup /o/ I just got my first car, a Saab 9-3, any advice on installing a sound system? Budget $500-$800
What are some quality brands?
What are some cost effective ones?
Do I really need an amplifier?
Will subs weigh down my car too much?
Is it worth buying rear speakers, or just upgrading my door speaking instead?
My console just has a stock head unit, which isn't rectangular at all, leaving alot of empty room around the new head unit. Where can I get a new plastic head unit from for the console?
Should I try to install it...

Upgrading your factory subs should be enough for what you're looking for. A giant box is both heavy and takes up a lot of cargo space.
>Is it worth buying rear speakers, or just upgrading my door speaking instead?
Just buy an entire kit that replaces all your oem stuff. Don't mix and match oem with aftermarket, it sounds weird

I'd recommend having a reputable shop install it. But know/have what you want before you go there, otherwise, you might leave with something you don't want/need.

Go to walmart, buy a few CD-R's, and rip some songs, or just get an fm transmitter.

Bigger, heavier, and more expensive than a Mustang or Camaro, but with far more usable back seats.
In terms of strict performance it's inferior to a Mustang or Camaro, but it's supposedly comfier. More of a sport touring barge.
Of course, there's the whole FCA thing, which is... regrettable to say the least.
>>15392920
the rear looks like a bland piece of shit, its not even a nice booty either
