Ok, so I have a 93 f250 with the 300 inline 6. I swapped out the cab for a new one a few weeks ago. Found out alternator took a shit. Replaces alternator. Battery dead, will start on jump but won't stay running. Im thinking when I replaced the cab, I think i forgot a ground wire somewhere. Is there anything else it could be? It runs just fine when the jumpers are still connected but has about a 30 second life span after they're disconnected. Also, the cab is from a manual, my truck is an automatic, but I dont think it really matters. What other fuck ups could it be?
>>14705939
is the chassis ground cable from the battery tight? make sure all the grounds are tight and the metal to them is clean, as well as that there is no corrosion on the battery terminals or the wiring going to the alternator
what does the battery charge at idle with a voltmeter? could have gotten a bad reman alternator
>>14705939
Gonna ask a stupid question but, did you hook the new alternator up?
>>14705954
Where is the chassis ground located? Im no mechanic. I mean I understand most things but I dont know where a lot of things are. >>14705956
Yes, its hooked up.
i had a 97 corolla and one of the problems i had with it was the cramped interior space. im 6'5 and i was climbing in and out of that seat lol so would a 8th gen (2002) corolla be alot better for me, or am i better off going for a camry
Better off with any full sized sedan. You're taller than average, so anything compact is just a bad idea.
>>14705971
hm so another words camry? even though im tall, im not one for big cars
>Be looking at "I replaced the cab on my pickup" thread
>Thinking about exactly how much work would be involved to replace the cab on my pickup

>It looks like someone left just a pickup cab on the street
Should I do it /o/?

Make a sofa out of it.
>>14705465
Or put a grill under the hatchback.
>>14705465
Holy shit, why did I never think of it? I could be sitting in an Opel Ascona sofa right now.
Has anyone on /o/ ever used Yahoo Auctions Japan?
I'm looking for some help with reliable proxies, seeming only Japanese currency is allowed.
>No international shipping
>Proxy fees
>Recommended Proxies
Anyone one willing to impart some advice?
ask /fa/
they use proxies for yahoo japan all the time
or just go to superfuture and ask there
I've used buyee.jp for some stuff. The biggest problem with them, though, is sometimes they won't let you buy a car part because they either think it's dangerous/hazardous or the seller's asking for a vin confirmation and they don't seem to want to pass that on.
>>14705086
How Yahoo Auctions Japan works
>have to have Japanese bank account
>if you want to buy an item, you will have to communicate directly with the seller so they can confirm that you do in fact want the item (protip 9/10 they don't speak English at all)
>pay for item
>they ship it to your Japanese address
Is there a certain mileage point at which you should definitely walk away?
I've been on the fence about a 1988 Corolla:
>315k miles (!!)
>two owners
>second owner put 12k miles on it since buying it from first
>first owner took care of it well and has most of the service records
>no accidents, exterior has no dents or dings, interior in great condition too
>AC doesn't work,...

Should be fine. Just not for $1000.
>>14704287
Unfortunately he's firm at $1000, which he came down from 1200. I don't understand why cars are so damn expensive in California. This, for example, is going for $1100.

Buy it faggot. Be pre-weeb.
so my gf wants to race me on the track this year, but she only has a stock manuél vw golf.
how bad of an idea is it to rent a 944 turbo for an hour to let her to beat the shit out of it?
>not 350 for a 2 hour session
dat money to drive an old shitbox top kek
Seeing how you drive I have doubts she'd need the 944 to wipe the floor with you.
besides craigslist, what are some good sites for used cars by private sellers?

Rare picture thread.
Post a pic of a car with serious historical importance you've literally never seen out of that one time you saved it.
Lurking op
Sounds interesting but I don't have anything to contribute.

Tunafags who terrorize normal people on the street don't like being photographed. Pathetic fucks, the lot of them.
Any idea how I can get this tubeless tire back on track? Went flat on me last night. I hate this piece of shit but all I can afford currently.
spray some ether/starting fluid/propane inside while the tire is off car. ignite. bead may seat. watch YouTube videos on how.
>>14703150
thats dangerous and used as a last resort. if you have a proper compressor just remove the valve core and hit it with some air, you may have to put some windex on the bead if it wont go over the lip, dont be afraid to wrestle it. pull the air chuck out as soon as it seats and screw the core in, set to max rated pressure for a while
>>14703117
Remove tire,
Ratchet strap around tire,
Spay down with soap and water around the seal,
Fill with air while releasing strap tension.
Works every time on lawn mower tires
Why are expensive cars allowed to be so much less reliable than cheaper cars? This ferrari is the more reliable of the lot, and it still has massive reliability issues that would call for other cars heads to be cut off, but apparently it's the best car of its time.
it's not that they're allowed to, it's that the higher performance comes from making an engine with tighter tolerances etc which means smaller imbalances or flaws can create bigger problems. As tech improves, we will be able to get more performance without the big reliability hit, but as it has been, it is almost impossible for the two to co-exist just from a mechanics standpoint
>>14702677
>meanwhile my 480hp big block chevelle hasn't caused me a single issue
Enjoy those mechanic bills new car cucks.
>>14702646
Most of them are driven less then 200 miles a year, so the problems never get noticed.
