Why do we like cars so much, /o/?
Ever since I was a small boy I've been fascinated with them but I just can't figure out why. I remember having a doco when I was basically a toddler called 'Too Fast to Race' all about the Group B cars and I think that was what sparked my passion.
How about you?
I was molested for the first time inside of my uncles 84 ford thunderbird and i'very never come to terms with my sexuality because of it also I'm obsessed with 80s American cars because of it

I bought a used car and its tires have some small curb damage from parking like pic related but a little less aggressive.
Are these still safe to use?
>>14767159
Look at the tread. Those tires are dry rotted as shit, replace them asap. Any curb damage is the least of your worries.
>>14767175
The tread is still good, 5mm and 3 years old.
>>14767176
>>14767175
Oh pic in OP isn't mine, it's just an example of the curb damage, I was too lazy to take a photo of mine.
Doesn't anybody feel kind of bad for Honda Civics because of what the ricers have done to them? They were never meant to be some 16 year old's tokyo drift racer wannabe's ride. They are reliable as fuck econo cars for the average working American. Not some frigging lawnmower on steroids sounding, ricer shitbox abomination. Has anyone tried buying a used Honda civic off Craigslist? fart cans, body kits, and cheap rice accessories galore. The horror. Half of them have salvage titles because the ricer punks couldn't drive for shit..poor civics...
Not really, they are cheap, mass produced vehicles not some rare thing being molested like RWB 911s or Stance Works e30 M3s.
>>14766890
this
they were almost designed to be trashed

Also for Datsuns 510s and '32 Fords.
Hey fellas.
I recently became the 2nd owner of a car that I really like, with only 55000Kms on the clock and which runs like new.
Problem is the last owner abused the exterior. The door handle recesses are deeply scratched from dangling keys or fingernails, there are some deep scratches into the colour coat up the sides, and the paint is swirled to shit. Plus there are a few stone chips down to the metal on the hood which have me genuinely worried about rust ingress.
I want to keep this car for a really long time. Should I have it resprayed?
>>14766549
By the description it seems like mayhap a reconditioner could fix that for you. But if you've got no problems affording a respray then why not.
>>14766549
Professional detail, you can get away with touch up paint on the chips.
>>14766590
How much is a respray usually
I never thought I would say this... but the new Prius actually looks good when compared to the Tesla 3
For being such an innovative company, Tesla is scared of taking these kind of styling risks.
I cant decide if i like it or not
That looks fucking awful.

One Invidia Q300 later, and the flange came completely off the exhaust piping. After investigation it turns out there were only three bb sized spot welds holding it together. I didn't know that sleeping on the job is allowed at Invidia.
Post stories and cringy exhaust pics

How do we stop tesla?
And not just tesla, but new car manufacturers?
An anon posted something the other day that made me worried (pic related)
I don't know much about cars, and I just got into working on my own and it's starting to make me worry for our future that almost every new vehicle is computer controlled, or just now starting to dabble with autopilot.
You already are starting to become unable to work on newer model cars, and being removed almost entirely from driving them.
It's not fully here yet but we're advancing in that day faster...

Stop being autistic

How is that being autistic? Literally everything I just listed will be standard in 25 years.
You aren't going to be able to work on your own car, and shortly after that, you won't even be able to drive it.
Z32 owners, riddle me fucking this
Transmission in my brother's 1990 300zx was replaced 100 miles ago, no problems since then. Yesterday the power steering and A/C compressor were replaced also.
After these were done, this morning I went to drive it for a bit, and it was fine for awhile. I went to take off from a stop and as soon as I accelerated slightly, it completely shut off without warning. No CEL, no battery light, nothing. So on the side of the road, I started it right back up. Then about a mile down the road, it stalled again. This time I noticed the...

>>14765345
As far as this issue goes, this car doesn't have a fucking soul.
Revenge for Hiroshima.
This is a better one
seen this pic for years.
Im not sure op, but id think the car would spuder a little before cutting off if fuel delivery issue. I suspect wiring problem. Make sure the ecu plug in in tight, and all the wiring harness isnt shorting out somehow.
does not sound like fuel pump to me
Why do people say the RX8 is bad?
is it cause it has a rotary engine or because of reliability or something?
>>14765069
rotary engine and bad reliability go hand in hand.
>>14765069
Because the reliability is shit.
Owning an RX8 as my first vehicle has ruined me for shitboxes, as I can't bring myself to look for things with more than 100k miles, because at 100k miles the rx8 magically decides to break
>>14765069
They were fun and pretty good in corners. They are were a pain in the ass though and didn't last long.
Are CENTRIC rotors any good /o/ ? I don't expect any $40 rotor to be amazing, but will they at least last a year or two? I don't have a whole lot of money to spend, but I also don't want to to buy complete junk.
I just got my order of these in today - they better be okay.
Centric is perfectly fine. Decently high quality blanks. Same company as Stoptech.

I had one. Previous owner modded it. Was pushing high 300 whp. Was beaten into oblivion, had a number of problems wrong with it including coolant leak, exhaust leak, valve misfire, front bumper falling off a few other illegal things but it was an amazing car. One of the best I've ever driven.
Reliability is good. Has lots of potential. Really great technology at the time.
It's up there with the Supras and Skylines. If you can pick up one, def go for it and try to restore it. Go with the TT manual obviously.
>>14764586
>interference engine
So like most vehicles. Why the fuck would you ever list this.
Anyone know anything about codes p0400 & p0442? I'm getting the 400 code fixed tomorrow and depending how the dignoistic goes, itll cost between 140 to 440 does that sound fair? Also how much would a p0442 usually cost?
