So, skying father wants a car
Eldest son has finally fucked off on a bike, i can now go back to 5 seaters.
So i'd like a reasonably sporty car, 4x4 is a must, would appreciate a diesel engine.
>any reason why i shouldn't get a Subaru?
Hows reliability?
Sorry for ignorance, i've ben out of the game for a while, but now that i'm ditching the SUV i have no escuses
I assume you got the wrx fever
I bought a subaru in October. I like it
You could look at other rally type cars
Mini, Audi, eco, etc etc
Not sure about the diesel. That's entirely out of the realm of sporty 4x4
>>14782677
>wants a sporty car
>wants a diesel
>Sorry for ignorance
yeah, you better be fucking sorry.
>>14782787
I know, but it's be really nice
Or i could do the sensibile adulti and get a diesel sedan...?
I REALLY need A/4wd
I know you guys must probably get questions like this very often, sorry for being a newfag but I'd rather be dumb for 2 minutes than for the rest of my life.
So, what car should I get if my criteria, in descending order, are:
1-Reliabilty/"Just werks"/Requires the least maintenance and repair
2-Repairs, if needed, are cheap
3-Fuel efficient
I literally don't care about anything else, I just need a reliable, economical car to go from point A to B.
I lurked around and saw that Civics and Corollas are the most common options,...

>is there something better than that?
No not really
>which is better
Both about the same
shut up and buy a Civic
Do you fart in your car?
>>14779454
Never. I'm a girl. Girls don't fart.
>>14779496
tell that to my grandma
No, I pull over, get out, and fart into the wind.
Dumb frogposter.
other than the original mini, what are some lightweight chassis being sold in the U.S. that can be a viable option and relatively easy to buy?
>ib4 burgerland has no light weight cars

Next gen cars will have cycle tier engines. Perhaps not, but a MR2 has one already.
>>14778824
geo metro?

honda beat.
daihatsu copen.
suzuki cappuccino.

Would I be fucking up if I moved on this? I'm thinking the high miles shouldn't be too concerning since it's essentially a fancy Toyota?

link doesnt work for me, but I do own a 2006 is250. the 350 is a good car but almost 14k is a lot of money

Give me a basic overview of diesel engines.
What are they good at and bad at
Can regular mechanics work on them or is it a specialty thing
>>14775183
My knowledge
>takes different fuel
>lots of low end torque, power comes at the very very high end of the rev range
>they're more fuel efficient of course
>use different compression ratios to achieve all that
End
>>14775199
I heard they last longer?
They don't have spark plugs
They crank harder but less often
If you rig the right kind of fuel feeding array you can run them on literally fucking cooking oil, vodka or animal tallow (if you don't mind ololol-tier smoke coming out of your exhaust)
If you get a twostroke diesel of any kind it will not only outlive you but also all of your children

Does car stereo with Bluetooth HURT quality compared to aux? I want to buy a new stereo but not if its gonna be a waste of money
Also do they improve sound quality or only work with what you have speaker wise? The one I want has subwoofer such the bass is really weak with what I have now. If not, any recommendations for speakers? I'm looking for a rich, balanced sound
>>14772531
>Does car stereo with Bluetooth HURT quality compared to aux?
Yes. Bluetooth is Lossy, however you probably wouldn't notice the quality difference.
>>14772545
Then how do I achieve the highest sound quality possible
I know the obvious answer is speakers but what else is there to do?
>>14772545
>Bluetooth is Lossy
Wonder what it does to the audio in particular.
>>14772555
You obviously need USB-in, OR there are head units that take SD cards. Just as far as your input question goes.
Ever since dating me she has became really interested in cars.
She goes to car shows with me and is always asking questions like "Hey what kinda car is that"
She also now says she wants a mx5 or Integra to as a project car to learn to work on...
She watches initial D now aswell...
How do I convice her that cars are only a guy thing because this is really embarrising.
I can only give an accurate response with pics
>>14779259
im 100% jealous op, good shit
What are you fucking gay?
What does /o/ think about the Dodge Charger?
>>14772170
increased theft risk
It's pigfat but once the Chevy SS is gone it will probably be the last Big RWD American V8 sedan that isn't a Luxo-barge. Also no manual option
>>14772187
When I say Luxo-barge I mean not a Cadillac or Chrysler
http://www.autoevolution.com/news/new-mazda-rotary-engine-presented-in-patent-application-106139.html#
What do you rotards think about this patent Mazda submitted into the US patent office? Mazda completely flipped the engine 180 degrees.
Apparently this allows for longer intake runners to be positioned under the engine which can draw better air flow for a "dynamic forced-induction effect". The exhaust port passages will be shortened and improve flow capacity.
The patent also states that the re-design will increase available space within the engine...

>Guys
>We can't make the rotary now because people don't buy it and it doesn't meet emissions
>What do we do?
>LET'S TURN THE BITCH UPSIDE DOWN
>what will that d
>FLIP THE BITCH
When did /o/ get a job at Mazda?
>>14776046
It's a pretty decent idea funny enough. Increases the rotaries volumetric efficiency, which is one of the issues they struggle with.
>>14776035
>Mpg still worse than a v8 with half the power.
If I wanted a '''fun'' motor I would just a electric car or something.
What went right?
>>14773492
Ever played video games? There's a term dubbed "pre-order hype" where everyone who can convince themselves they're not about to get fucked take the risk so others don't have to.
>Relatively affordable electric car that actually looks good rather than looking like it was drawn by an 8-year-old with down syndrome and has enough range to actually drive across town and back without recharging
Gee I wonder

Marketing, only reason to buy something before it is out
Redpill me on the F80 M3, /o/.

you'll be looking for a while then....

difference between m3 and m4!?
Heavy, slower than a type r civic, the engines and turbos have reliability issues. Otherwise fast fun car if not a little toned down from older generations
>276,000 preorders
How in the blue hell is Tesla going to do this in time?
>>14774972
They won't.
People will wait and grow more eager.
Trendies love being outside the velvet rope.
Only on /o/ would 276,000 guaranteed sales cause a company to fail
I was one of the first who preordered I see no problem there m8 first comes first servers :P ;)

it was the kiss of death
a poisonous gift
Good news. Luxubarges depreciate faster than Trudeaubucks, so second hand even poorfags can afford them.
