>Volkswagen to buy back 428,000 diesel cars from owners
>This is projected to cost $10 billion in addition to fines and lawsuits
http://blog.caranddriver.com/vw-agrees-to-buy-back-482000-diesel-cars-other-details-still-hazy/
Seems a bit unfair given that in the new real world test not only did no car pass (dotted black line) the VAG cars are well below the average emmisions (red line).
>>14900939
I bet VW financed those purchases anyway
>>14900939
This, the entire car industry is lying about the emissions, its more like VW is getting punished this hard because they got caught.
Hey /o/ I am in need of a new car, and i could use some guidance. I need a car under $5k preferably sportyish. I am not exactly car smart, but my top pick right now is a chevy cobalt (pic). Here is one that i am interested in advice wanted. http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=29401&endYear=2017&modelCode1=COBALT&showcaseOwnerId=616337&makeCode1=CHEV&startYear=1981&firstRecord=0&searchRadius=50&showcaseListingId=423356672&mmt=%5BCHEV%5BCOBALT%5B%5D%5D%5B%5D%5D&listingId=426943504&Log=0

Ok guys, I'm in the market for a vehicle that can handle rough roads. Not looking for an all terrain vehicle. It needs to be a daily drive so it also needs to be good on gas. Any ideas? I'm open to suggestions.

So I put "water wetter"(with Deionized water, I think it was like fill it will distilled water then add water wetter to it, done" in my mustang about 7 years ago on the advice of a ford tech, mustang specialty (i doubt that's a formal title, he drove terminator and was the "mustang guy")
Two years ago I was somewhere where the temperatures were getting to freezing over night so I added some coolent to my coolent(water wetter + Deionized).
I'm not wondering about how quickly the coolent will go bad. I'm reading people want you to...

It wouldn't hurt to flush it honestly.
There is a drain under the radiator. Draining just the radiator and filling it will be good enough.

With what?
>>14898502
With what?
Do I do the water wetter thing again, do they even sell that anymore?
Is every fucking 80s turbo car a basket case when it comes to buying from non-first owner. Or is that fact that its early turbo?
>>14898402
Turbos have been mass produced in cars since the 60s.
>>14898402
A lot of it has to do with people not knowing how to maintain the things. They figure "oh, well I can just beat on it and use whatever I want on it! Turbo? What the fuck's that? That just means it's fast, right? Guess that means I can drive it like crazy wherever!"

not affordable.
Should I let my project go
My truck has been giving me a hell of a time. It's a 1984 d150. My grandfather gave it to me. Learned most of what I know working on it. Finally got takes on it in December of 2015 and I've put about 12 Kmi on it since. Everything was going fairly good until February since then muffler blew up, radiator broke, u-joint blew on highway, tailgate broke, rear break adjustor borke and scored the drum, front caliper locked up the list goes on...I'm in school so I don't have a lot of time to work on it. So should I stop driving...

More info
318 727 2 barrel
Not much rust
Clunking noise when going in reverse
Needs valve stem seals
Bed is caved in on passenger side beyond repair
Probably needs drivers door
If I didn't have the emotional attachment to it it would probably be gone already
Also the risk of getting a lemon if I replaced it....I generally think I know what to look for but there is still that chance
Don't sell it. Put it under a tarp or something until you get back on your feet, I sold my power wagon for the same reasons now I would kill a man to have it back
Only problem with that is as I'm going to school I still live with my parents and even though we live in the sticks my dad has the idea that we have to keep insurance on everything.....dont know why. But to keep it around it has to stay tagged and insured...I don't want to get rid of it but at the same time it's not going to be fun paying insurance for 2 years on something I might not be able to drive or see as I plan to transfer to VT in 2 semesters

Maybe one day mine will look like that
2004 350Z w/ 70k for $11,000?
...or 2005 Mustang GT with 120k for $9000?
Also, what are the main downsides of the 350Z besides lol winter, lol break wear?
P.S. for all /o/'s yelling about muh V8, I expected more than 300 horses on the 5th gen GT
>>14897828
brake*
Wow, no one is yelling memes about can't turn regarding the mustang, etc?
Am I to assume both are reasonable choices?
>>14897828
Get whichever makes you most happy to drive. The price on the GT sounds a bit high to me though, if you are searching for a Mustang in the 10k range you could get yourself a 4v car instead of the 3v and have a better engine.
Took my Honda over to a dealership the other day to get serviced. They told me one of the motor mounts is collapsing and needs to be replaced soon. Everything on the car seems fine.
Are they just bullshitting me?
>>14897714
Check for yourself and see, maybe?
Open the hood and have a friend start the car. Does the engine wobble a lot?
>>14897714
>Honda mechanic here
We don't bullshit when we recommend stuff retard.
It was recommended because the mechanic put your shitty auto Honda into D and when he accelerated he either felt a loud thump or shudder.
After that he performed a motor mount check with another technician
(I do this daily) and they both confirmed it.
Does anyone have a MTOD account? Is it worth it? Does anyone have an account they would like to share with us m/o/torheads?
I have one, I find it worth it. A lot of content for the price. Especially if you like watching racing, it is fantastic for it's variety of series. Rally, touring car, formula, vintage, it has everything. The early access is nice but not the best thing about it.
you know what you can do ?
Buy a month and find out, eat some ramen for a while if your budget is too tight.

If you're a high octane gearhead with oil for blood, it's worth it for sure! Motor Trend OnDemand is designed to fill the appetite of auto enthusiasts left underserved due to the exit of a major automotive cable network from the market. Much of their programming will be familiar to hard-core fans and supporters of the original Speedvision, as well as fans of the popular Motor Trend Channel on YouTube, with more than 3 million subscribers and 800 million video views to date.
11/10 would recommend
