I dd a '95 Mx5/Miata, and I want to test drive a new model. Can I just organize a test booking and thrash their test vehicle with no commitment to buy?
No. Most dealerships will require some kind of down payment up front in case you fuck up.
You wanna do some bullshit like that, see if you can find a car rental place that has one for rent, get full insurance, THEN go fuck it up.
>>15017672
But I'm poor :(
They don't just let nobodies drive their new Miatas?
>>15017704
Unfortunately not bud...
I remember once when I was younger I went to a dealership and let them hold onto a Rolex while I test drove a few cars, but I didn't trash em. Pushed em, sure, but no screaming skids out of a parking lot.
what car is pic related?
FAMAS with a V12
Lamborghini Countach
De Tomaso Pantera with a body kit
What's /o/'s opinion on this?

A safe, reliable, fuel efficient, slightly fun(with that manual), reasonably spacious car.

The front of the volvo looks like a BMW.
What does it mean when you have no compression in 2/4 cylinders?
Blown head gasket. Most likely the section between the cylinders but check your oil for coolant.

what is the most reliable luxury brand?
I've heard this varies depending on where you're from, with some people insisting you should only buy a bmw if you live in yurrp due to the parts being expensive to ship to the US, while some recommend buying caddies/lincolns in the US only for the same reason.
I've got an older lincoln, while my friends all drive acuras/bmws from similar vintages, and I was wondering what /o/'s take is.
pic related, it's a car I could never buy due to the cost of parts/shipping

Admit it y/o/u were a ricer at one time what color was your underglow
>>15016621
Never had neons irl
>>15016621
I was never a ricer. I hated them before I even bought my first car. By the time I did, though, the FATF franchise craze was subsiding and few people were still doing the underglow thing. I rarely see any ricer cars around anymore that fit that 2000s-era underground ricer subculture stereotype.
I was never that kind of ricer.
I fell pretty hard for the JDM/drift meme and had an S14 with a huge GT wing on it, fake Option2 stickers, and stuff, but never underglow or graphics or anything.
You are relocating to grorious nippon, what car do you get?
an imported american car that I can turn into a low rider

Hey /o/,
Looking at buying a 1992-1993 RX7. One is a RHD at 130,000KM~, other is 113,000 LHD. Both around $11,000CDN
My main concerns are insurance (im 19, currently under my dads policy for my '11 Jetta) and the heat/wear issues the motor has.
I have no tickets and dont drive like a jackass. Both cars are completely unmolested. Looks like they were imported
big quick car like that, if you want speed and low insurance youre best off with a sleeper like picrelated.jpeg
>>15016459
I'm a mechanical engineer, and you basically have to be to own an FD.
Good luck, my 19 year old Canadian friend.
>>15016459
The car has higher maintenance costs than you can afford, and immediately you have to overhaul the cooling system if they previous owner hasn't otherwise you'll fall into a world of shit with a broken 13b. RHD will make your insurance skyrocket, expect anywhere from 300-700 a month.
It's not a car for you right now man

i installed this in my 01 saturn and get a whining noise through the speakers that increases with engine rpm. it's installed correctly in regards to the wiring harness all being correctly connected using insulated wire crimps and from what i've read i may need to use a different switched/constant +12 from say maybe the cig lighter to get rid of this but couldn't i just add a resistor to it instead? any br/o know what's going on here? thanks in advance
You have a ground loop
Alternator Whine. Bad ground or poor isolation between the power cables and RCA cables.
As others have said you have a bad ground. If you are grounding it through the wiring harness get rid of that ground and ground it to the chassis.
How much do you think a featureless car would cost?
Imagine a car with no AC, no interior electronics (radio, speaker, fancy dash), no interior at all besides seats and heating insulation, "ECU" is just a tiny IC that basicallt just controls the fuel injectors, engine is small, frame is small, etc etc etc.
Perfection is when there is nothing left to take away.
Ýou'd end up with a soviet era Russian car.
>>15016176
You don't need heating insulation.
If it's not RWD it sucks asshole anuses
I'm paying 650 for one

Any boat owners on /o/?
I live in an apartment complex where I can dock a boat for a little bit more a month but I never gave it any thought until I went out on at today.
M mechanically inclined but how different are boats from cars? Price? What is the Honda Civic or Miata or boats? I don't even know what I'm looking for - I'm completely new to this.
Salt water or fresh water? Salt water is a lot of work, have to pull it out of the water periodically, fresh water isn't as bad. Really depends on what kind of boat you want, an aluminum boat with an outboard being kept in fresh water is not too much maintenance, a larger fiberglass boat being kept in salt water is more maintenance than almost any car. For salt water a Civic would be a smaller Boston Whaler, for fresh water a smaller aluminum boat. What boat is most common/easy to service depends a lot on where you are.
I worked on sail boats and sold products for boats.
Fucking money pits. Constantly rotting in the sun and salt.
I'd have one if I was rich enough to leave it in the marina and have someone keep it maintained. They are fucking eyesores when parked in a driveway or side yard.
Kind of a gimmick buy that I think a lot of people regret, unless you're a hardcore every weekend type boater or fisherman.

Both brother
I'd like to her out at sea if possible. My marina is on a river that empties out into the ocean in about 1 mile
