How reliable is a jeep? In the long run. Ive always wanted one and the four doors price recently went down here but where im from there isnt a dealer so if it breaks and i need a repair id have to pay for a mechanics flight here, him to do his job and his stay in a hotel. I know theyll eventually invest in my area but that might take a few years. So how reliable are they?
Jeeps are junk unless you have the money to keep them very well maintained.
Basically it goes for anything with Chrysler products
>>15058356
Worked on them for just under a year and found that jeeps are pretty unreliable but the wranglers were alright
>>15058356
JKs literally have a minivan motor. Also anything except for the wrangler and grand cherokee is absolute shit. Get a TJ.
>college student
>sister totaled my '07 Mazda 3 back in January
>looking for a daily driver that's still fun to drive
>parents offering to get me a new car but want to spend under $7k
So I found pic related on craigslist: an '05 Subaru Legacy GT which is a 270HP turbo, 140k miles on it, cheap af to insure but fun to drive, automatic transmission (wish it was a manual), and AWD. Only $4000.
How's 140k miles for this...

That aside, does it have a 2.5l?
>>15058209
Depends who was driving it. Any maintanance records? Its a great car but if some dude bro owns it and its obvious its been launched every corner stay far away. But if it looks very good like it doesnt even have 149k miles go for it

Hello /o/. /g/ here and I'm starting to consider building a toy. My dad is a big mechanic himself with a car that has a lot of work done to it.
That said I'm trying to branch into it myself. I'm not completely retarded with cars of course. Pick up quite a bit from watching him. Thinking of getting pic related. I can get my hands on a Crown Vic off of police auction or even just a used car dealership for rather cheap. $4k or so. Is crown vic a car that has decent motor swaps available? Or even just the ability to add on to the existing v8? Like I said this...

>Is crown vic a car that has decent motor swaps available? Or even just the ability to add on to the existing v8?
It's basically the entire drivetrain from a 1996-2004 Ford Mustang GT, so yes. There is a LOT you can do with them.
Try to get a 2003+ car for the updated front suspension.
Just remember. The Crown Vic, due to its weight, and engine platform, is never going to be fast unless you chuck a few thousand dollars at the engine.

>toy
>Crown Vic

I figured total I'd be throwing $10k at the car as a toy. Including the $4k-$5k for the car itself. Is the motor normally aspirated? Turbos available?
I ask because my dad's car has a lot of work done to it. Twin turbos stuffed in a Chevy Monza. Putting close to 550hp at the crank with only 5lbs of boost and pump gas.
I'm a complete beginner really with cars so like where would I start? Just buy the car, beat the piss out of it until something breaks and learn how to fix it? Take it all...

Is anyone familiar with the process of importing a car that is on the list of vehicles eligible for import through an RI from the NHTSA? All the info for importing a car I can find is about companies offering cars complying with the 25-year rule. Nothing about non-compliant cars being made compliant for import.
pic related, I'm considering importing an FD
As a followup I'm mostly interested in what the cost is going to be like. I don't know what the cost of something like an RX-7 is like in Japan. I've been lead to believe cars like that have a lower value in Japan than they do in the US, but if importation fees and modification costs are going to be more than buying domestic than obviously it's not worth it.

You're that same faggot and I'm still not going to help you because you like the veilside body kit
you aren't a suitable owner for an FD

Is Acura a good luxury brand?
Arguably the worst given it's basically rebadged Hondas (not in the sense that Lexus is a rebadged Toyota, I mean nothing is changed)

If you were to get a new job that is double the distance of current, would you still be happy with your MPG? Let's say pay is better, but not significant.
Cause I'm in a situation where I might go from a 15-20 minute commute to an hour - hour and a half commute and my shit gets 15 MPG.
>50 mile commute
My shit gets about 24 at 55mph with no wind.
And like 9-10 against wind at 80
>>15057732
<10min commute in the morning, and 15min max in the afternoon if I-95 is backed up and I hit all the red lights taking side roads home.
It is definitely a big factor in me not switching to a slightly better job. Making $100 more a week isn't worth sitting in traffic for 2hrs a day.
I'm willing to put up with a lot of shit at my job if it means I only drive 10-15 minutes to get there/home. Longer commutes (I've done them) make me an angry asshole.
