So whats the difference between this and a $3.25 oil filter?
Do these manufacturers just slap "performance" in front of their product to charge 500% more?
>>15084168
Yes
>>15084168
Pretty much, best for the money will be wix or Purolator filters.
Napa gold filters are just repacked wix filters
>>15084168
>>15084195
No. You fucking idiot.
Open up an FRAM filter and you will literally see cardboard in it.
Mobil 1, K&N, Purolator and probably WIX use better quality filter material media and also have drain-back/bypass valves to help aid against dry starts.
I run mobil myself. I think supposedly purolator is the best though.
Hello, /o/, I just started driving manual the other day, and I've pretty much got enough of a grasp on it to get around, but I had some questions. When shifting, it sometimes feels like there's a block when I want to shift into a gear. In addition, sometimes when I shift, it seems to hesitate before grabbing, which I assume is the synchros. Also, last night, first started making a grinding noise when I granny shifted into it going around a corner. The car is still under warranty, so should I take it into a dealer? Or am I just bad at it still?

You don't just jam it into gear. Synchromesh is not for fast shifting.
You gently knock it into gear, and get used to the car until you can match the rpm, gear, and road speed reasonably well.
protip: shift at higher RPMs. worse on gas, easier to shift smoothly.
>>15084189
I don't necessarily feel like I'm slamming it, it's usually pretty leisurely, but it just feels like if I don't put pressure on it, it won't shift. Also, pardon my lack of knowledge in the exact mechanics, but if the clutch is disengaged, isnt the motor disconnected from the transmission entirely? How do higher rpms help shift smoothly?
>>15084263
replace shift cables?
drain/refill tranny?
maybe tranny user actually borked?
What does /o/ think of swapping in a motor from glorious Nippon into a msucle car?

Doing it right the first time is usually cheaper in the long run so they have a point.
Question is, why do you want coilovers?
>>15084066
>why do you want coilovers?
Stance nation™
>>15084039
But seriously some struts and springs will work very well and not fall apart like most coil overs.
>>15084039
they say it because you'd be better off getting oe shocks and springs at that price.
stop being bitter you have to settle for cheap shit and people online won't tell you it's not shit
What is /o/'s opinion on the 97' Jeep Cherokee? Would it be a good SHTF vehicle?
I'm planning on buying a used one and revamping it into a happening car. Including paint, engine, interior and tires.
>>15083390
yeah, that inline 6 is a solid engine
>>15083390
Forgot to mention I'll be adding a solid bumper and solar panes on the top.
What does /o/ think of this car? Seems like you can find them used with decent miles between $20-25k. Are they known to be unreliable, or is it just expensive parts?
Worth having with no place to garage it? (thieves, weather...)
>>15083326
It's basically a BRZ if it wasn't shit.
>>15083326
Porsche parts and expensive labor. Just keep money for unexpected repairs, they're fairly reliable as far as I know. Can't get much better for your money in my opinion. Security is fine, nothing will happen unless you live in the ghetto.
OP here. One thing I've noticed when shopping around is it's unusually difficult to find:
>A.
1-owner only
>B.
Accident free
I even expanded my search radius to 500 miles, and still, the majority have been in accidents. Ridiculous...
Hey guys, I was hoping someone here would be able to identify what type of car this is? Much appreciated!
im picking up a camry or corolla vibe
>>15083315
2000-2002 Saturn SL
You can tell its those years by the angled front side marked as opposed to rectangular that is found on earlier years.
>>15083343
Don't listen to the troll, it's an early 90's Corolla
Oh shit br/o/s, It's happening. Car and Driver just confirmed a new Ford Ranger in the USA for 2019.
Thoughts? I don't really care. It'll be too big like all the new "midsized" trucks.
If they made it the exact same as last gen with better engines and an aluminum frame I'd sign the check with my diamond hard dick.
Fuck the world, I have no faith in humanity.
>>15083286
This, small, light, and Manuel. I'd take it without the last one (c'mon, Ferd doesn't even sell manual trucks anymore), but I bet if it was actually small, it wouldn't cut into F-150 sales.
>>15083301
Well, rangers are already pretty Manuel centric m8
guys, I applied for a job at a car garage/retail shop which is a chain. But it seems like a good place to start and would be a lot of fun.
I applied to a parts delivery position and a general service technician position.
If I applied friday, when would be a good time to call and ask about the status of my application?
Just stop by and ask about the job.
>>15083076
Today brudda
You fucked up, I always call maybe an hour after I drop off an application and then maybe every hour after that.
It shows pluck, something millennials like you know nothing about.
How much extra is an aftermarket sunroof worth to you on a second hand vehicle, assuming the car was never offered with a factory sunroof?
>>15083023
Leak/10
>>15083023
-$2000. What kind of dumbass wants a sunroof so bad they pay someone to cut a hole in the roof? Chances of it being fucked up are super high.
My car has a sunroof.
I thought it was the coolest thing ever, but I started using it and began to get sun burns during the summers.
It's a cool novelty that is not worth the money.
Are Jeeps trash? For some reason I have a feeling that they are but I have no idea why, people must have said it before. I'm thinking of buying a 1998 cherokee, what do you guys think? Planning on driving through the outback.
Honestly do it, I have had mine for 3 years now and I love it. Decent gas mileage, awesome torque ( as long as it's the 4.0 ) and unstoppable. I thrash mine on a weekly basis. Things to look out for are pretty simple/ easy fixes. My friends and I have all had to replace fuel pumps and I had to replace my clutch a few weeks ago. They also have a huge aftermarket community and parts are pretty easy to find
> are Jeeps trash?
If you're using it for its intended purpose, no. Otherwise, yes.
>>15082818
My 2 Cherokees have served me well
My 96 Cherokee got to 212k miles before getting rear ended and totaled
What car is this?
That's definitely an odd shifter as it's on the dash and not the floor
european utility van, but I don't know which one. Some older, not a new one
>>15082736
are you joking, mate?
>>15082714
Looks like a Ducato or something to me.
I wanna play too, what car is pic related?
Opinions on the Mk2 Focus RS?
Kinda rare cars, but i know someone who might be selling his.
Too much power for FWD, heavy lump of an engine for extra understeer, sounds amazing, looks kinda cool.

Hello /o/, since I know that the newer Mercedes models suffer from planned obsolescence and are full of electronics which are difficult to fix, I'd like to know when all of that started?
Which are the last Mercedes cars with minimal electronics that are easy to fix?
I'm basically searching for the same sweet spot that are the e36s and e34s for BMW.
No Mercedes Anons here?
/o/ is a slow board and it's early in the morning. Believe it or not but people who actually own cars and could help you with your questions go to work
So just give it a while
