Tomorrow I am buying an 1987 mercedes 560 SEL one owner with about 180k km, clean beige leather interior.
it's problems are a valve that causes a failure to start every month or so (rarely)
driver side window doesn't roll down
paint is faded but easily repaintable
just got serviced of over 600$ + brand new exhaust front to back 800$
I am buying it for 900$
Did I do good /o/? do you think this car will last me a good while?
pic related but from google
It may be a reliable runner but don't fucking dare to think that you won't have to spend money on fixing shit in the near time.
It's a 30 year old German land barge that has barely acceptable performance, congrats you should have bought an LS400

>Did I do good /o/?
Post an actual pic.
I just got a new (to me) car and it's great but it has shitty wheels with plastic hub caps. I want to buy new wheels but the budget is tight and I just found out that aftermarket wheels need a TPMS sensor installed for an extra $250. Is there any way I can circumvent this charge or just skip the sensors altogether?
>>15235150
>being this much of a poorfag
Do it right or not at all.
In your shitty old wheels, are the TPMS stems rubber or aluminum shit ones? If they have rubber stems all you have to do is buy the stems and have them attach the sensor to those stems.
This is, of course, assuming that you aren't going to reuse the old steel wheels.

Aluminum shit
Hi /o/
I had some weird electrical issue in my car (now fixed) but as I was digging around to locate the issue I found something peculiar. I'm hoping /o/ can help.
My 12 volt socket works fine, but strangely enough, when the ignition is off I can get current to flow between the positive and negative cables (see pic). There is no current "input" from the battery, just my Ohm-meter saying that there is no resistance whatsoever. Wtf kind of circuit is that?
Is it the Ignition Solenoid doing that ? is it normal ?
Thanks for the help.
bumpity bump
Halp. Google let me down.
>>15235144
Can't see what the red lead is touching. Can't see what the meter is set to.
Any Mercedesfag on /o/ ?
I always liked german car brands but never bothered Mercedes because of auto trans almost exlusively.
Now that I am getting older looking for a powerfull comfy smooth cruiser.
What do you guys think about the E55 AMG ?
Am I asking for trouble maintenance wise ? I know it's an older AMG... How heavy does those feel ?
Here is the add of the one I am looking at atm.

Go test drive it and find out how you feel about it! I've driven quite a few AMG vehicles and they're pretty damn comfy and powerful. Never owned one or spent an extended period of time with it but if you're at a point in your life where it feels like a good vehicle I don't see a problem with it! I've heard people complain about maintenance so make sure you do your research
>>15235266
thx for the reply, nice to see /o/ isnt full of shitposters
Currently driving a MX5/Miata NA and now saving money for another car. I'm thinking about a Mazda RX7 FD, Nissan Skyline R32 or Silvia S15. So far I have no idea which one of these three would be the best decision. I do not care about the power but I want a car which I don't have to work on a lot or pay tons of money to maintain it. Do you have any advices? I'm in Germany btw.
>>15235076
>I want a car which I don't have to work on a lot or pay tons of money to maintain it
In order:
>S15
>R32
>FD
>>15235076
>What would be the best decision
Depends, GT-R R32 all day
Otherwise the Silvia
>>15235076
S15 followed by R32 for easiest to daily. FD for best looks, but also thirstiest and highest maintenance.
If you just care for looks, looks into the MX-6.
>>This is a very clean rust free example with a completely rebuilt Pettit street port with less than 15,000 miles. (165k chassis)The rebuild included new rotors and housings. I'm selling because I have too many cars and not enough room. Besides the A/C blowing warm the photos and fresh engine tell the story. Please only serious inquiries! I will ignore CL nuts and low ballers.
Crazy to want this as a first car? Is 3500
>>15234953
>new rotors and housings
Would have cost him $3500
12A parts are NOT cheap and VERY hard to come by.
Ill be hes lying or by "new" he means "good used parts"
>>15234996
What do I do anon
>>15235020
Check it out in person and see if hes lying
The fuck are you fags putting curtains on your 20 year old Lexus.
Why are spending hundreds of dollars this "m-m-mod" and what is the overall appeal of turning an old luxury car into a frame banging piece of shit wth maad cambersss.
>>15234841
>stancefags
>sense
Whatever floats their boat, I guess.
>>15234841
why do you care what people do with their property and their money if they clearly enjoy it?
it doesn't affect you in any way
>>15234841
What are the standard "VIP" mods do people tend to do anyway?
Is it just rims, a tint, and a sound system?
>browing the Smart Fortwo website
>see this
Why shouldnt i buy one?
I can pay it off in under a year and it would be fun to own a tiny as fuck car compared to my truck
>>15234836
>Why shouldnt i buy one?
You like staying alive
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKSPxQjPOm0
>>15234836
Because there are bigger cars that get the same mpg.
>>15234836
Because RWD and turbo are not what make fun cars
Look at the chassis , the ratios.
You'd have more fun in a third generation Prelude
I'm thinking about buying one to make a temporary home/mobile workstation. I move around frequently to job sites, so I want something I can live in for about a year.
I'm already used to living in a van, which is what I did during high school. Now that I actually have money to make a proper luxury studio/home I would be able to enjoy my time living in a van.
The van would be $38k, but it would pay for itself in a matter of months.
>>15234835
well if it makes sense financially do it.
just park near gyms
>>15234860
I would park near gyms, and see if there are any campgrounds/truck stops to go to as well.
I don't want to sign a lease for a small apartment that I'm going to be paying $2k a month for. I'd rather be able to move around than be stuck in San Francisco as well.
>>15234876
Here's a very basic outline of the sort of thing I'm looking at.
Are the new Golf's good cars? Not the GTI, just the base model for reliable fuel efficient transportation
ANYONE??? WHAT THE FUCK
>>15235330
Tdi is the only one worth it.
>>15234769
I really love that shade of blue. Reminds me of my first car.
So someone abandoned a vehicle at a buddies work, and I'm about to go take it.
They pulled the plates and everything.
How potentially fucked am I and how can I find the owner or get it registered?
>>15234762
Check your local laws about abandoned vehicles.
>>15234762
OP, what state?
>>15234762
Just take the parts you want and leave the shell for maximum safety.
what is the most cheapo insurance out there?
>>15234555
Wasted trips. Do some fucking research, get some quotes and stop being a Jew.
Nice booty tho family
>>15234555
For 200 dollars I know a guy who will live in your car and if you ever crash it, he will say he stole your car and crashed it while you run off and report your car stolen
>>15235716
>For 200 dollars I know a guy who will live in your car
b-by guy do you mean kawaii 2d girl? if so does she look like the beautiful woman in your gif?
can anyone explain why VAG insists on these disgusting dress covers
>>15234467
Normies like engine covers, that way they don't have to feel intimidated by a complicated looking machine when they look at it.
My question is why do people that know nothing about cars look in the first place, what is it they expect to see
because they make it more aesthetically appealing for normies
atleast vag and audi pieces pop off easily.
lexus is even worse
>>15234484
Oh god wtf man.
Hi Guys,
I am 24 and have a 1.25L ford fiesta zetec climate.
I am thinking of upgrading to a Volkswagen Scirocco 2.0 TDI GT.
What do you guys think?
good
Buy the shitrocket.
Obligatory.

So I bought a truck for my first vehicle for $500
its in bad shape but no structural rust, just needs paint and a few dings out of it as well as a new fuel system ( has 2 tanks that are fine) and I would like to re do the electrical work completely as well as replace all the rotted plastic (it sat in a field for 6 years)
I have been looking and I cant find a user manual anywhere online (free pdf) or any paper copies except "Ford F-150 Haynes Repair Manual" those guides more or less shotgun information about a bunch of different makes and models. Dose anyone...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>15234397
Shot in the dark but maybe call a dealership or something and ask. If nothing else they might be able to point you in the right direction?
>>15234409
Called Ford and Mercury United States
(18003923673) they do not have the manual, was transferred to another sector, ended in dial tone :/
ok... so the desk number the guy gave me (18005443312) rings for ~18 minutes then ends in dial tone... darn :/
So no manual from fords side... any other ideas? I am willing to play for an actual ford manual but not one of the "general overview of 50 trucks" manuals
