From steering to braking, computers are increasingly taking over the car as the years go by. There was even a recent controversy when American cars with OnStar can now be turned on and off with an smartphone app.
Should we worry about it or nah? Are computers improving the car, or are we fixing a problem that doesn't exist by replacing all parts with computer/electric controls? Both?
(Note: let's leave the discussion of self-driving cars for another time because that's a whole different issue)

Op would you go in a space craft without computers?
Probably not.
So why go in a car without computers?
>>15361344
I mean, trashing a computer with viruses is one thing, but if something happens to a car while I'm driving, the least that will happen is thousands of dollar in damages.
How do I learn to drive manual. I have no need to I just want to
>>15360874
1. ask someone who does know to help you learn
2. buy a shitty car you don't car about abusing to learn
3. look for a class
>>15360879
None of these are options

When is /o/ going to acknowledge diesel is the superior engine for DD?
>more torks
>available at lower end
>easier to merge
>easier to overtake
>more efficient
>cheaper at fuel pump

I'm 19, I make minimum wage in CA (~$17k), and live with my parents. Convince me not to lease a 370z or pic related to make my life more exciting than it really is.
>>15355131
if you're actually interested in making your life more exciting, here's a short guide:
1. move out of your parents' house
2. start a non-minimum wage career path - go to community college, trade school, apprenticeship, etc
3. instead of leasing a car like a dumbass, buy an old, simple, reliable car and learn how to work on it. drive it for a while and learn what you like and dislike about it, so that one day when you are in a better financial position you can upgrade.
>>15355131
You won't be able to afford the insurance on either of those.

get a yugo and start robbing banks for excitement
otherwise, just get a used civic or corolla
Trauma surgeon from an Eastern European country here.
Ask me anything on the injuries/mechanisms or whatever else could be related to car/bike crashes and you might want to know.
Have you ever thought that Darwin was right and to hell with it all?

Mostly with bikers, but I uphold the Hippocratic oath.
Besides there chances are bad anyway.
Older cars/cars with less safeties than modern cars.
For the risk, is the potential injuries worth it?
Fiat 500; how fucked is some girl going to be if she gets a collision with this blob of a car.
Should I get the glass in my car replaced with some form of shatter resistant plastic or does it not make much difference in a crash?
You may only post in this thread if you have a car that redlines at 8000 rpm or higher.

I was going to buy a Tesla model S, but then I started thinking about how electric cars are not green at all and in fact very polluting.
This image sums it up pretty well. Electric cars are just as polluting if not more polluting then regular cars.
Get a diesel S class, probably one of the greenest cars made
>>15353114
if you choose a car based on its "greeness" you should get a bike instead.
>>15353114
They also shout "I'm a rich faggot who wants people to think I care about the environement" to everybody.
DESU I want to do a model S BBC swap just to piss Teslafags off.
Anyone else is happy the BBC got rid of those boring Top Gear presenters for season 23?
the only real problem was Clarkson (lets face it, hes a racist humorless twat)
if only the other 2 werent sucking his dick we could have a good Top Gear still

SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE
>>15351411
My first thought towards the car is that it's a cool car.
My second thought immediately goes to retarded 16 year old Hondatards who think a D16 makes 150 HP N/A bone stock because it can rev to 7k, and that VTEC is a gift from god.
TL;DR: Cool car, shit fanbase.
