I figured I'd start an F-body thread. I know some of us have them.
Talk F-body's here!

Now for why I started this thread.
I was on Heidts website tonight and noticed they have a bolt on IRS available for turd gens. Last time I saw their site, they only had an IRS for first gens and early second gens.
What say /o/ on this new addition to the turd gen aftermarket?
>31 spline 9" chunk capable of supporting up to 800 HP

no.
so i just got promoted to full time at my job right as my car died. once receiving the promotion i gained access to the corporate "perks" program which offers discounts and some deals on things. since ive been looking for new cars i noticed that there is an auto buying program through this "truecar" system. the cars i was looking at are the chevy cruze and chevy sonic which the website claims that they can get the car for me for >1000 less than the average purchase price on the car. does anyone have familiarity with this site? it seems like it is too good...

My co-worker owns a Cruze and hates it. Wishes someone would crash into him so he can be rid of it. He loves driving though and his other car is a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 so that's probably why he hates it.
I hear the Sonic is decent. Summon Stolen Recaros, he knows GM cars.

>Summon Stolen Recaros, he knows GM cars.
I have arrived?
anyways. Truecar is fantastic, so long as you don't try to negotiate the price any lower than what they give you. True car keeps track of what people pay for cars on the final price and sticking to the truecar price with no haggling makes the process much more streamlined. Truecar gives you the lowest price someone actually paid for the car. it is not a negotiating point to drive the price down further.

The Sonic is a great fun to drive little bastard. The instrument cluster (pictured) can take some getting used to. I adore it, but I can see how some people wouldn't like it. There are sport motorcycle inspired touches all over the car like the exposed lens headlamps. The 1.8L of most Sonic's is a decent Opel engine but it's not the best engine. Optional on the LT model and standard on LTZ and RS models, is a 1.4L Turbo that makes the same horsepower as the 1.8L, but makes more torque...

Hey /o/
Looking for a new stereo deck for my 99 Malibu LS. It's my first car and I've never bought a stereo before so I don't know what I'm doing. I'm looking for something <$90.
I found this for $90 and it comes with all the harnesses and everything I need to install for free. Also can anyone let me know what I need for install other than the harness for my car? It already has an aftermarket stereo in it, for what it's worth.

Also, pic related is everything the $90 deck comes with. Also free shipping.
>>13854176
Go with the JVC unit. It's a well-known quality brand. Don't forget that you need a stereo installation kit to mount it and awiring harness adaptor to wire it in without butchering the factory harness.

You don't seem too inclined about car audio, but that's okay.
Car Audio rules:
1. You get what you pay for
2. BOSS a shit
3. Pyle a shit
4. Low price Pioneer a shit
5. Single din radios with LCD screens a shit
Now then, if you order from crutchfield, you're golden. They provide good service and will guide you if shit gets fucky.
At your price range, everything is going to be gaudy ricebox shit, so don't worry. That JVC looks pretty decent for what it is, free remote and microphone are a plus too. Go for it man, good choice...

Does anyone here who lives in the 904 Jax area drive a 944 Porsche? I think I may have just spotted one of you faggots.
No one here can afford a Porsche.

How do you shift a tractor pic is relevant I don't rememberer if you come to a complete stop then clutch and shift or what
>>13853844
you shift like a normal faggot
/thread
Depends on the gearbox
A lot of the modern ones are CVT, but most of the tractors you see around are normal transmissions with a clutch, and a low-range gearbox
Not familiar with how the one in the M135 works, but it appears to be a normal automatic with three ranges
How do you Evo plebs feel knowing the final edition Evo still doesn't have as much horsepower as the STi? Lmao dumb ass idiots, keked by mitsushitty once again.
450 horsepower my ass.
>>13853789
Isn't the EJ25 STILL making 305HP and still being a piece of shit? I'll take the Evo, thanks.
England had 400, 500 and 600HP Evos available from the dealer. The US got shafted on the special editions.
The Subaru engine hasn't changed just as long as the Mitsubishi.
>>13853796
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Enjoy you heavier car with a 5 gear trans gay boy.
What is this big silver thing?
I want my corvette to sound like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KABVK5FfxY
180* headers 8-1 would be ideal but there's no way that would fit
this ferarri has four 2-1's with each cylinder banks eventually into 1 but what is the huge silver thing? are they just stacked mufflers or is it all merged?
should I do like this or just have 2 4-2-1's, or 4-2-1s into 1
or 2 4-2-1's with an x pipe
But that sounds like shit op

you can buy used as long as it is all in fine condition. I got all my gear for about $200 total.
OK so most people would agree that rallying is easier with FWD/ AWD. FWD teaches the basic techniques such as Left foot breaking, preventing under steer with the handbrake, ETC.
I want to slowly build a car for rallying but begin rallycross to master the basics. I have narrowed several base cars down. A subaru Impreza GC8 chassis not the 2.5l, it had FWD and AWD but FWD imprezas are hard to find around me. The next on the list is a VW golf which is popular in the rally scene specifically the MK 1 - 3. The next one is a nissan sentra SE-R or the SPEC V with a Large aftermarket...

just find a cheap stratos on craigslist and go from there. they can be had for 3-4k.
RWD is the only way to go, OP.
FWD and AWD are for pussies
>>13854185
>>13853648
wtf y'all. this is like telling someone who wants to learn how to ride a motorcycle "yeah nah yer a pussy for wanting to start on a 250, gotta go with at LEAST a 600, preferably a literbike". everyone has to start somewhere.
OP, I like your Sentra idea. even if you can't get an SE-R, it's a decent chassis.
how come no one ever talks about this car?
>rwd
>maual transmission option
>awd option
>300 hp
>jap reliability
its literally faster than the g35 coupe/350z and weighs about the same plus you get all the advantages of a 4-door car.
so fagg/o/ts why dont you own one?
>>13853363
I've seen the G35 and G37 sedan reccomended a lot here. Really thinking of getting one myself, they're fucking everywhere in NY. The only thing is that they're pretty much all Automatics here. And the manuals don't come in AWD which is kind of a pain to daily in the winter.
>>13853415
If you're going for the G35/37, then the second gen IS350 is also a good option.
The G35 sedan is definitely a better car than the coupe, but it's kind of ugly and the interior's not that great.
The truly superior option is a 2006-10 M45 (dat VK45). If you want a land yacht get a Q45. The only downsides to these are auto-only.

Sup /o/, captai/n/ here
What does /o/ think of the 2016 Mercedes SLK-350?
My neighbor bought one, and I like the look of it. I don't know much about cars, rather boats, so I figured I'd come here. My neighbor says he likes it, but he's an old fart and likes just about anything.
>>13853227
Some anon here has an older slk amg, but I'll tell you right now you probably wont get any good replies. Almost no one here can afford one, or even has driven one.
should have bought a miata and a turbokit and other boyracer parts with the rest of the money

Why Renault can make sporty shitboxes and Nissan can't?
Look at this little son of a bitch. A Fucking Sandero is more interesting than the Nissan line up.
You kinda described it already
One of the companies in the alliance makes the sporty cars - no real reason for them to try to sell sporty small cars under both brands, especially when it will most likely have the same technology and close performance
>nissan doesnt make hot hatches
stop being stupid OP
>>13853046
Because Renault has a past of sporty hatches, while Nissan has a past of weebmobiles.
