What does /o/ think of the 1989-1991 Honda Civic?
>>13868396
rare as fuck and thrashed by teenagers
EK civic hatch or bust
best Civic
I recently purchased one with a blown motor for $1k. It has a B18A1 currently, but was thinking of swapping in a B20B from glorious nippon (they sell them for only $350, and I already have everything i need for the swap)
What does /o/ recommend I do for a blown head gasket on a car?
Skim the head and replace the head gasket, basically
>>13868277
Have it replaced by someone with a brain.
Get the head off, use some finer wet-sand paper and clean the surface before putting on a new gasket and reassembling it

Anyone on /o/ who owns one? How is it like? Is the moneypit rep fair?
For any knowledgable enough to answer, why would I choose this car over a MR2 or RX-7?
>>13867995
>over a MR2
Better looks, better performance, better everything.
>or RX-7
For no particular reason, really.
>>13868020
> better performance
only if you get a turbo model though
Assuming both cars are brand new:
>2015 base trim Honda Civic SI sedan manual
>$31,844
vs
>2015 base trim Volkswagen Golf GTI coupe manual
>$32,884
I'm looking for a "hot hatch" type commuter car.
Two doors is annoying as fuck, but the GTI is "fancier" than the Si. I like Honda though and it will probably be a lot easier to maintain. The Si is also made in Canada so I'd get some patriotic...

Both are really good cars. I had trouble choosing between them too. Although i wouldn't really consider the Si a "hot hatch".
I ended up buying a 2012 Si coupe and i absolutely love it. They make great commuter cars since most the power is at the top end. Just driving around on the highways i usually make 30mpg.

you don't want to. In daily driving its annoying. Anyone who says otherwise should stick their track day bro decal up their ass and go cum on their miata.

Takes an hour tops if you have a shitty clutch, less if it's a good clutch.
I'm buying a 2006 Mini Cooper S, what is /o/'s opinion on these cars/ Mini Coopers in general? Pic related.
>2006 Gen1
>Posts a gen3
OP I had an '06 non-S for five years, it was great.
Gaskets and hoses will leak. 06 is the best year to get. Go lurk at NorthAmericanMotoring, it's by far the biggest and best mini site, really helpful. I just sold mine for a BMW but I'd own another in a minute if I could keep two cars.
Pic related, my former ride.
Unreliable as fuck
Doesn't do anything particularly better than other cars around that price
Looks retarded
By the way did I mention unreliable?
>>13867589
the '06 S has literally the least amount of problems. None of the turbo issues of the 07+, none of the trans issues of the CVT in the non-S Gen1 cars. Other than motor mounts and leaky thermostat housings and oil pan gasket it's a pretty safe bet.
Okay, /o/, please give me your absolute favorite driving music, all genres welcome.

What does /o/ think about black-box insurance schemes and telematics in general?
>>13867127
It's annoying and I'm personally against it, but I thought they can only raise your insurance cost by like a certain percentage no matter how aggressive you drive.
>>13867127
As long as the driver has the choice, I don't care.
>>13867135
Well, most cars nowadaysdays have telematics recorders as part of their ICE systems.
Soon every car will have them and there's nothing you can do about it if you want a new car, save from ripping out the ICE equipment.
