Sup /o/, I'm new here so I don't know if what I'm saying is massively retarded or not cuz I don't know anything about cars but I was wondering; What is your opinion on the Toyota FJ cruiser 2014 model? Is it a good car? Is it trash? I'm looking for something that will do well in the snow (I moved to Denver recently) and I'm looking at either this, a 2015 Jeep Patriot, or a 2014 Jeep Wrangler, which of those is the better car and why?

I *can* be patient and save up till I can have like a 2000 dollar budget or some shit, but I'm an impatient sunovabitch. Any car you buy for $500 will need thousands of dollars in work in its immediate lifetime. There is no fucking double about that. 2k-3k is the prime spot to be able to find a well maintained, non POS car, that you don't need to put so much money into.
Really, buy a $500 car and put in 2k-5k in repairs.
Save up for 2000. 530 dollars gets you the most piece of shit there is on craigslist, or something that does run which will cost money to get it running. With 2000 you can atleast get a car that runs.

Anyone here actually look at spending a few thousand on bottom end parts? Think in cam timing? Port and Polish their own cars? Have enough power to worry if the power will bust through their piston walls? Power adders are things to be stacked, not debated about which one is best?

Yes, but quite slowly and you shouldn't use it as a method to charge a battery low on power as it can be harmful and might reduce the lifetime of the battery

When an engine idles the alternator turns backwards draining the battery faster than just using it with the car off.
If you're sitting anywhere for a while using the stereo make sure to turn the car off.

How bad of an idea is it to buy an rx8? I have never owned a Dorito motor before but I am positive I can handle apex seals and other big jobs. They are pretty cheap around here.

So I seafoamed my car and the can said to go out and drive aggressively after you're done. After about 10 minutes of aggressive driving I noticed my breaking performance deteriorating. After another 5 minutes my brake pedal was mushy like I was stepping in pudding and my breaking distance was far longer than normal. I don't normally drive my car aggressively but every once in a while I like to push my car around the mountain passes and side streets.
