I kinda wonder what exactly prevents terrorists from buying up a bunch of drones, arming them with explosives, maybe doing a bit of tinkering to allow for higher speed/altitude/rage at the expense of battery life and then sending them to some major even like a football match or a concert. Seems like a better plan than whatever the idiots in Paris did.

For a big event, like the Superbowl, a big drone-free perimeter several miles in radius gives security plenty of warning. And stadiums already have large-scale signal-jamming ready to go; if you can shut down cellphone bands during a bomb threat, you can shut down RC frequencies as well.
If that fails, you can bet that the snipers they keep on the roof during events like that have already started training to shoot those things out of the sky.

I've been expecting an attack like that for a while now. It only seems logical to happen, for precisely those reasons: remote location, camera/GPS-guided drone, few pounds of explosives, done.

Thankfully terrorists are, in general, a bunch of losers and fuckups, and have neither the technical aptitude nor the intellectual ability to plan such a thing. Grabbing a few AK's and going to town seems to work fine.

Why not buy a bigger drone you say? Why would Mohammad spend thousands of dollars to lift a little bit of explosives and maybe do some damage when he could buy a beater cube van and level a building with the same investment?

So you attack inside a stadium and kill maybe a handful with your drone, or you can use a car bomb on the people swarming to the stadium and kill dozens or hundreds. All drones offer is novelty, it does a worse job than literally any other alternative.

What about a single high value target? A nomination or innagural speech outdoors with an important head of state would seem really succeptable to a drone strike..
Police can use radio wave jammers tuned to either wide or narrow spectrums I guess. But what's stopping someone from just flying it wayyy high overhead and dropping a small explosive on the target?
