http://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/Basic-Goods-Suspiciously-Begin-to-Appear-in-Venezuela-Stores--20151214-0018.html

basic products have begun to appear on the shelves of stores in Venezuela.

Through social media, people in Venezuela have begun to denounce the suspicious reappearance of some staple goods in some markets following the Dec. 6 elections.

The social media users have indicated that the sudden reappearance of these goods and the fact that they have expired dates on them expose that there have been no issues with production, but rather with distribution, which many right-wing business people control.

They also said the reappearance of certain products is evidence of the economic war the U.S. and the political opposition in Venezuela launched to destabilize the country and which was denounced on many occasions by the socialist government of President Nicolas Maduro.

The reactions on social media have included photos of the reappearance of previously “missing” products and demands to the government asking them to take the necessary legal measures against those responsible for hoarding and the economic war.

In some tweets, social media users note the link between food company Heinz and the economic war, as the U.S. food processing firm announced it would begin production again after months of inactivity.

Recently, Maduro ordered an investigation into Heinz after workers at the company's plant in the central state of Carabobo reported that although the food processor was fully operational, the owners were refusing to produce certain goods.

On Saturday, the leader of the Heinz workers' union, Hernan Garcia, said that after various months of failed attempts to sign a collective contract with the company on Dec. 9 they finally achieved their objectives and that they would begin working again.

This fact has been considered by many Venezuelans as evidence that Heinz participated in the economic war.

Adriana Marcely Pedroso, spokesperson for Heinz in Latin America, said the company would not comment on the matter, saying, “Heinz will not take a position about this subject.”

Street vendor Rene Holanda commented on teleSUR that the opposition has always resorted to “punishing the stomach of the people to blame the government for shortages. But also the gringos (U.S. government) have blocked the commercialization of raw materials and products.”

Most comments regarding the reappearance of basic foods blame the United States for interfering in Venezuela and depriving the people of basic foods in order to push forward its political agenda, which is likely linked to the country's resources, such as oil.

“I don't believe the industrialists conspired alone against the Venezuelan people ... that help was more than likely from the United States,” said Silbano Pita.

You know, this doesn't seem all that surprising although does show a new angle of "attack" by the same old vanguard whose interests are on the line. At least it's better than U.S trained death squads firing against unionist and so on, as its "capitalistic miracle" neighbor Colombia.

and yet, if you seize the means of production history will remember you as a criminal

>government fixes prices
>companies expected to sell shit at a loss
>seeing a conspiracy when a bunch of companies decide to not sell
the choices were increased prices or no product, it's not surprising they start selling again now that there is a new government with the implication that the rules will be changing.

Imagine being in a country so shit that being able to buy milk is cause for concern
>>
Are you telling me people with real power are using their power to boost their interests?

What world are we living in??
>>
I don't think anybody ever said they weren't selling food because it wasn't possible to produce food. It was pretty obvious the food shortage was because the producers couldn't run a sustainable business selling it in Venezuela.

>Posting telesur propaganda
>Anything seriously using the term "economic war"
Also I haven't seen that "mysterious repack" of shelves where I live.
And take this garbage to /pol/, there are no news to discuss here.

lol its Chile all over again

This is fucking disgusting.

The rich holding back basic goods from the people because they weren't making enough money for themselves. Its a fucking disgrace that people think they can live their lives like that while others struggle daily to make ends meet.

They are just lucky there wasn't a full scale revolution that cleansed Venezuela of the scum and allowed the rich to still hold control of most of the industry.

Also, now people will finally see the problem with Venezuela is not with the Socialist government it had, but with the country and the people.

(Also i guess it shows that the Socialist government weren't fixing elections and that's just what the people wanted, but that doesn't make sense right because who would want a socialist government?)

The middle and upper classes in Venezuela are a bunch of snakes.
>>
I don't understand why President Nicolas Maduro and other socialist leaders in South America is so naive. They need to do their revolution and get rid of rich business men and organisations that goes US and Corporate US errands.

this is the thing that always leads to the failure of socialist movements that try to win through a slow policy of change rather than revolution. of course capitalists are going to withhold goods when there are price controls. it doesnt benefit them. to be able to actually make things flow, you need to CONTROL the means of production. they should have been expropriated, and they werent, and all this stuff happened, and so obviously the voters - who value food and survival above ideology, which is of course logical - turned to vote for the party that could bring the goods back

I just can't belive The amount of bullshit i just read.

The lack of products in our country is due to The weak economic system here, The massive corporations as Polar are willing to leave The country due to an unsustainable economic plan where it cost them more to produce the food than selling it, here 1kg of milk ready for selling is worth 100bs.f but you can easily sell it in The streets at x10 times The price imposed by The goverment and this happen to all basic food, of course you can find it at 100bs.f but you would have to do a 5 hours or longer line wich will cost you one day of work, The lack of food is due to The bad administration of The goverment and it's bounds with private corporations, 1 year ago The goverment was assaulting PRIVATE farms and keeping them for they own bussines letting a lot of families without job, this is when The milk started to run out, now The goverment say it's a fucking economic war a you fucking fags can not see it is what our goverment is selling to you, The minimun wage here is so fucking low that a lot of people quit their job to work as bachqueros (people who works reselling products and transporting them to colombia) because they could win up to 7 times what they would win with a common job, it's goverment fault and it started when The goverment started to keep private bussines for them, also, a lot of those farms now are known because they are unproductive under The goverments hands get your shit straight.
My english could not be The best but i got to show my point. For The nazis shit living in this community

>Company won't make money from producing goods
>Doesn't produce goods
What a bunch of rich dirtbags
>>
>>10197
Get out of here Maduro, you're projecting your perverse, inflated sense of entitlement and exceedingly poor grasp of basic economics.

First off, it is not economic warfare when a supplier withholds their goods. It is their fucking property, and why the fuck wouldn't they keep it?

Considering, Second, it was your government's policy to maintain price controls, outright steal shit off the shelves, and to facilitate looting sprees, often at gunpoint.

Third, your government's weakness and illegitimacy is only your fault. After a lifestyle disease took your more capable predecessor all you did was fall on your face.

Just go pull a Allende already. Your legacy costs are damaging enough already.

It's called economic warfare. Instead of negotiating for a fair price with the government, they just withdraw their products. Or have their products sold to resellers to mark it with a high price, while the producer gets most of the money. Or worse, ship their products into Columbia where they can sell their products to people who actually make less.

Look into banana republics. Not the store, but how the term was coined.

This. Too bad so many Venezuelans and others aren't smart enough to see the scapegoating and blame sloughing for what it is, and that so many more are essentially trapped in it.
