In the case of highly conservative people, they view this as leading to dissolution of the family unit--their justification for removing it, being religious.
In the case of sex-negative leftists, they view it as objectification (read: competition and the collectively insecure)--devaluation of women in general is their justification for removing it, as they've abandoned any traditional religious justification.

This is already the case in several states. There is a huge wave of "pro-child protection" across states because of Pennsylvania's Sandusky/Paterno child fuck ring. Some states can even make someone working with children a "mandatory reporter" where if they fail to report child abuse of any sort they can be charged with the perpetrator. The laws haven't been tested yet so know knows what that means; maybe you can be charged for not picking up on something small, maybe you have to really fuck up for the DA to even implicate you. Who knows.
