Its in Canada, pennies were phased out so all purchases round to the nearest nickel.

Well that must drive CPA's cray cray bananas

cpas are already cray cray

All fast food jobs will be automated by 2020. Retail will follow shortly.

YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST FOLKS!
>>
>>38197
All the parts of retail have already been automated, just not implemented. You're behind the times bud.

Automatic warehousing, automatic stocking, automatic floor bots, automatic Cashiers. Food service will take a while because food is not uniform.

you guys seriously think that this change will come in as little as 4 years? yeah right companies will fire something like 3 300 000 workers only in the us (maybe more) in just 4 years? It's an economic murder-suicide even if they did it in 20 years it would still be the case.

Those type of declaration are just there to click bait those who think they are too bright to fall for clickbaits (aka those who think they know shit in tech, aka you)
>>
>>38206
ho, and i was only talking about food service in fast food, not even including all the other workers in the fields >>38202 mentioned.

Literally what telegram had for ages
>>
>>38212
Yeah but Facebook Messenger has something like 25x the userbase of Telegram. Peoples' grandmothers use it.
>>
>>38206
If it can save them shitloads of money, they'll do it. The only question is if the technology will be good enough to replace someone. More and more it's looking like it. We're on the precipice of an exciting - and possibly scary, maybe even dangerous - era.
>>
>>38215
you are ignoring the fact that fireing masses of people shuts down the economy, therefore fucks big companies in the ass with broken glass.

you didn't get my point dude, economic murder-suicide.

Companies would kill the economy by fireing people like that, then company would be killed by a dead economy.
>>
>>38206
No, 4 years is too short a time span to see widespread change. Maybe a couple brave souls would do it in the next decade or so but it might be decades before it's the norm.
>>
This is what killed ICQ in the early 00s. Everybody used that in the 90s and then the adbots took over and everyone fled for Microshit's and AOL's messenger. I think these facebook ones are going to be more like Tay than those early script based things, which is scary for old fukrs like me.
>>
>>38215
We've been living in a dangerous time since the year 2001. Where the fuck have you been? That's been all of the corruption and fuckery was planted in the world's society.
>>
>>38224
That's nothing compared to what's to come.

Corporations want to replace as many fast food, retail, and truck driving jobs as possible. That's tens of millions of jobs lost at a time when population is constantly rising along with the threat of immigration.

And who eats the most fast food? The same low income workers that will be out of work. It will start a chain reaction.
>>
I give it 24 hours before /pol/ has it saying it wants to gas kikes.

>live in a shithole where this isn't common practice
I feel sorry for you

Also this just feels desperate. No real innovation, nothing exciting. Plus a company that's barely ten years old making plans for the next ten years. It feels like they're stopping themselves from being flexible.
>>
>>38368
I think all the plans might be just to drive up the stock price.
>>
>>38224
would you say it's been a dangerous time far longer than 15 years? like infinitely longer lol.
