>Japan’s prison system is being driven to budgetary crisis by demographics, a welfare shortfall and a new, pernicious breed of villain: the recidivist retiree. And the silver-haired crooks, say academics, are desperate to be behind bars.
>Crime figures show that about 35 per cent of shoplifting offences are committed by people over 60. Within that age bracket, 40 per cent of repeat offenders have committed the same crime more than six times.
>There is good reason, concludes a report, to suspect that the shoplifting crime wave in particular represents an attempt by those convicted to end up in prison — an institution that offers free food, accommodation and healthcare.

>The geriatric crime wave is accelerating, and analysts note that the Japanese prison system — newly expanded and at about 70 per cent occupancy — is being prepared for decades of increases. Between 1991 and 2013, the latest year for which the Ministry of Justice publishes figures, the number of elderly inmates in jail for repeating the same offence six times has climbed 460 per cent.

Is life that shitty in Japan?

>>34582
Phillipenes has it worse.

>>34582
What is do life?
>>
>>34515
i thought japanese people were incapable of crime due to superior genetics. And it's not like it's africa where they have to grow their own food
>>
>>34515
Just curious, if a super billionaire were to give money to a country, like japan for example, to help with their countries avoidance of accepting immigrants, would japan accept the money?
>>
>>34614
Are you asking, would the Japanese accept lots of immigrants if they were bought off?

Probably not.
>>
>>34614
Remember Fukushima, when Japan got buttfucked by earthquakes, tidal waves and a nuclear meltdown? They neither needed nor wanted the aid money that people were throwing at them. If they don't take money at a time when they could genuinely use it, they're not going to take it just because, much less if you want to help dictate policy.
>>
>>34515
>2016
>capitalism, free market and free enterprise has been proven to be THE way to run a country
>we still have socialist tier policies like "pension" "benefits" "welfare"

Give me 1 reason my taxed hard worked money going to the state to feed:
- old bipedals that outlived their usefulness
- those that can't feed themselves
- minorities

Why shouldn't my family be more entitled to that money compared to parasitical fucks that contribute with nothing?
>>
>>34681
You're an idiot because you don't know a single thing about Japan yet use your American values on them.

Even if you disregard that, your answer is still idiotic because you don't believe the crimes in the OP should be stopped with a welfare solution
>>
>>34681
Cuz laissez-faire worked so well before right?
>>
>>34699
>Implying we have anything close to lassez-faire capitalism
>>
>>34681
There are so many things stupid with you that I can't even be bothered pointing them out.

Go back to /pol/ to wank over your capitalism threads.

If it weren't for socialist methodology, you wouldn't have even been born. (that is, if we eliminate the ripple effects that would prevent your birth anyway)
Fact is, a level of government that is autonomous has improved worldwide safety and cooperation.

_A_ level of socialism is good.
Pure capitalism is bad. It is rife with abuse. (see the whole of America)
The free market was never a good thing. Money before lives is the biggest cancer of the world.
All it has led to is cheap, shitty unhealthy food, cheap-shit unsafe hardware and even software now. (stupid IoT shit in everything now)

Americas healthcare system, for one, is one of the worst in the modern world, and most expensive on top!
Meanwhile all the socialist healthcare systems are the best ones, and cheapest ones overall per person.
B-B-BUT MUH HARD-EARNED MONIES.
Go live innawoods, you fuck.
I wish we never stopped using Aussie as a prison island so we could cart worthless non-contributors to society off to their instead.
>>
>implying market based societies are socialists...
>>
>>34582
Living in Japan is pretty shitty compared to places like America. Don't let those weeaboos fool you.
>>
>>34715
This.
I mean, fuck, America blows 10 kinds of ass to live in.

But in Japan, it is SO MUCH WORSE for a similar level of job there than America.
Not to mention it is traditionalist as high fuck with the older types. Luckily younger ones have been throwing away those awful traditions in larger numbers.
Maybe Japans population might actually increase this generation.

The only major advantage is supply of good food, and not shitty cheapo food from Americanized food companies that make food out of toxic shit and things our body can't digest or deal with properly.
This is what happens when the food regulator gets paid BY these companies. Free market yay!

They have a proper understanding of nutrition and not one paid off by companies.
Grain and veg heavy with some protein here and there, then little fruit. (literally no more than 2 a day, even none being preferred)
The whole "fruit is great for you" is the biggest lie that still exists today.
The benefits of them do not outweigh the useful nutrients in them.
As it stands, vitamins and minerals REFINED from fruit sources are better for you than the actual fruit itself.
The sugar and acids in most fruits are horrible for you.
The whole Juicing meme of the past couple decades has only made things worse with people drinking pure fruit juice with sugar higher than that in most soda drinks!
And they wonder how they got the diabeetus.

>"we need to pay people so they don't go around killing and stealing ,thats why we have welfare !"
No,sorry,my taxes need to go to the police that outright stomp criminal shits, not BRIBING NEETs,old farts and criminal minorities.

>Pure capitalism is bad. It is rife with abuse.
Corporatocracy=!Capitalism
Creeping fascism=!Capitalism
>If it weren't for socialist methodology, you wouldn't have even been born.
I think 2 people fucking made me ,son.
>The free market was never a good thing.
You can't compete in it?You need the state to sustain your ineptitude?
>Money before lives is the biggest cancer of the world.
If money is cancer, then let me keep my money for myself and my family,ok Mr.Bernie Sanders?
>cheap, shitty unhealthy food, cheap-shit unsafe hardware and even software now
Stop buying it and demanding it,demand and pay for quality. It would be easier with less taxes, right?

>Americas healthcare system, for one, is one of the worst in the modern world, and most expensive on top!
Best quality in the world, over 80% of modern day healthcare has to say "Thank you" to americans for inventing almost every new technique, drug, surgery, biomedical software, tech etc
American healthcare is expensive because of other reasons.
>the socialist healthcare systems are the best ones, and cheapest ones overall per person
I've lived&worked in Brazil,Colombia,Mexico,Philipines,Spain,Chile,South Africa,Italy and Poland, you're sheltered and wrong, please go to any coutries with socialist healthcare.
There are only cities with good "socialist"(and private) healthcare, but no countries as good as the US,even if its expensive.

>we could cart worthless non-contributors to society off to their instead.
So you agreed with me all along?Heh,when are you leaving the NEET lifestyle?
>>
>>34730
lol, the delusion is strong.

There is no worth in even trying to argue with it.

The fact you think American healthcare is even remotely good is hilarious.
Even if every America were multi-millionaires, you'd still all be dying of trivial shit.
>>
>>34730
>American health care

I can afford private healthcare and see no reason to be forced to pay for public healthcare since I will never use it.

If YOU want public healthcare, contribute with your own money.

I should only pay for myself and family,I don't ask other people to pay for me.
>>
>tfw the liberal doesn't even try to form an argument
>>
>>34765
And some people can't that's the problem. As for public? I'd be happy as hell to pay that tax over getting bankrupt because insurance is being a dick and won't pay for treatment.
>>
>>34614
A billion dollars is nothing to a developed country.
Japan's budget in 2014:
>1,512 billion Revenues
>1,840 billion Expenditures

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_government_budgets_by_country
>>
>>34783
>And some people can't that's the problem
Their problem,not mine.
My problems are mine,not theirs.

Again, being forced to pay for other people's expenses is pure theft and imoral.
My kids deserve that money more than some non-contributing old fuck or dumb minority shit or the next transgender that wants free surgeries and treatment.

We live in a society of individuals m8.
>>
>>34792
The funny thing with your type is that you never object to your tax money going to corporate subsidies or to tanks that the military doesn't want or need.
It's always the impoverished people receiving help with their suffering that receives your ire.
It's extremely petty and says a lot about you.
>>
>>34792
And if that person who can't afford insurance is a close friend or family member? You might be fucked too when some nasty freak accident happens. Something like getting crippled in a car crash? I do agree with you though on the trannies. Life threatening stuff first priority with cosmetic bs like sex reassignment surgery being excluded from coverage.
>>
>>34792
Have you ever been in an hospital for ~6 months, like for a coma or some heavy shit ? I've not, but I'm gladly paying a fraction of the cost "just in case" than being kicked out on the street with open, infected foot-long and foot-deep wounds.

Way over 50% of USA residents can't pay for an accident, medical or material and have to rely on parents, loans, etc., basically society. In modern healthcare systems, "borrowing" that money is made automatically.
I prefer seeing my country handle all the money that I need to cover my medical expenses, despite all the >government thing. We live in a society where a government actually handling shit is automagically bad, wtf ?

tl;dr >>34783
I prefer paying thousands over the course of a few years than having to pay dozens of thousands when shit hits the fan.
>>
>>34795
>YOU MEANIE,THINK OF THE POOR PEOPLE
Using the suffering of other people to justify forced theft of my fruits of labor.Disgusting.
Why should other people's problems concern me?I have enough of my own.
My money needs to go my family and kids, not to strangers I don't know or care.

>your type
Do you live in a world of stereotypes?Really?

>your tax money going to corporate subsidies
I do object,everyone does,lol.
But you should keep buying corporate crap too ,then complain about them online while ignoring local business.

>military
>your country should not be safe and prepared
Unless you live in Uganda or Mongolia, having a well funded military is a must in the 21st century, son.

>>34797
>And if that person who can't afford insurance is a close friend or family member?
Exactly, not having to pay for strangers would help me pay for me family and friends instead.
>You might be fucked too when some nasty freak accident happens
And only myself and family will pay and mourn for me,not the strangers my taxes go to as public healthcare does not cover everything.
>>

You're post implied resenting any sort of social/collective services.

Your loss. Have fun going bankrupt from medical bills when the taxes could have cost much less in the long run. You and you and your family can't pay for EVERYTHING out of pocket if something goes wrong.
>>
>>34814
I forgot something

>Will not cover everything

Government can have a huge pool for that if they can get their priorities straight and not waste half the budget on war.
>>

the key to this story

Sucks to be old
>>
>>34765
We do that, you choose, the private way (The corps literally gamble with your money but you choose how much(sometimes they win big tho)) or the public way where you get angry at taxes but your 50000 heart pills are supplied to you "free".

>>34792
>We live in a society of individuals m8.
That's... oxymoronic.
I get you, I don't agree, but the chance to choose should be there.

>A honest question, how are ambulances handled in the US of A?

Interesting article on the subject

http://articles.latimes.com/2013/aug/23/business/la-fi-healthcare-watch-20130825

TL;DR - Your insurance pays for it. If they don't, you do.

I don't think this is for everything or every place tho.
>>
>>34720
>The whole "fruit is great for you" is the biggest lie that still exists today. The benefits of them do not outweigh the useful nutrients in them.
>The sugar and acids in most fruits are horrible for you.

Oh fuckin hell

Could you imagine some pillock like this reading a history textbook?

"Nah that's not possible mate, the Romans would have all had diabetes. They'd've been wiped out by the third year, eatin all the fruit they did. An apple a day puts you right in the grave, mate."

Fuck me.
>>
>>34804
The best is people who take advantage of the services while whining and give some excuse like, " it was there so I took it," because they're weak willed cucks who can't stand by their principles.
>>
>>34800
It's too late too pretend you have any concern for your taxes going anywhere else- it's clear that this is about spite towards individuals and not something about policy. It's not "fair" they they should get treatment without earning it.
You should know that I mentioned tanks for a specific reason- security contracts have repeatedly purchased more and more of them despite the military itself saying it has no use for them. It's an example of contracts and money being thrown around due to corruption, much like corporate welfare.

>>34801

Welfare is a bribe to keep the poor from becoming foot soldiers for organised crime. If you want to look at the alternative look at nations without a welfare system and the instability there. Just because stability, law enforcement and social cohesion are externalities for you(and most businesses) does not mean they don't exist.

What do you mean "Remember" Fukushima?

Do people not realize that Fukushima is ongoing? The meltdown? It's been belching out epic levels of radiation into the Pacific for the last 5+ years.

California just shut down commercial crab fishing because of radiation levels. Hasn't anybody noticed the price of seafood plummeting?

Have people not been keeping up with the hundreds of mass animal die-offs that have been occurring all along the Pacific coast? Every species of marine life, massive die-offs. Commercial fishing fleets literally collapsed.

People don't seem to be aware of this, like cognitive dissonance. They can't grasp that the Pacific ocean is dying.

It'snot contained to the Pacific ocean either, all the oceans are connected and the precipitation covers the land too. And it's just belching more radiation out every day. They don't even know HOW to contain it, let alone being anywhere near beginning construction on any kind of sarcophagus.

And remember, this meltdown is many, many times worse than Chernobyl. People need to look outside the mainstream media to find out about this stuff.
>>
>>35402
Did anybody ever notice that 70% of all nuclear reactors are situated on fault lines?

People always act like this is some fluke.

Meanwhile, all the world leaders are meeting in secret in Bohemian Grove and putting robes on and chanting prayers to "Molech, Molech" all night and staging a cremation of "Care," and representing that by burning a baby in effigy.

And nobody thinks all this shit is connected?
>>

What a fucking joke. Even the bloody Australian health care is better than the American health care in every way.
>>
>>35402
I live in japan and I'm pretty sure your media is just blowing it out of proportion.

I eat seafood every day. If it is that bad all of japan is fucked.

Long story short though, there's always a lot of people against nuclear power and for the environment working to overstate facts and make things sound worse than they are in the U.S.

They're almost always wrong too.

I get what you're saying anon but with the fucking herbivore men amounting to nearly 1/3 of the male population above 30 ON TOP of Japan's recent anti-immigration policies targeting international marriages. I seriously doubt that Japan is anywhere near population growth numbers.

>Corporatocracy=!Capitalism

Tell me how a free market doesn't inevitably end in a corporatocracy?

You let free, non-restricted entities build up large amounts of money and power, and don't expect them to use that money and power to influence policy to further benefit themselves?

Just go regurgitate redpills elsewhere faggot.
