What do you guys wear when cycling?
I understand cycling clothes include lycra but I'm sure not everyone wears cycling clothes when riding.
Regular clothes when commuting, loose-fit polyester jersey and cycling shorts when leisure riding

lycra bib, rip-stop baggies, literally any shirt, helmet, full-finger gloves, spd shoes, sun glasses, a backpack full of repair shit and granola, optional kneepads depending on which trails i'm riding.

lycra is comfortable
also anything you can also wear to ride pussy when finished = just fine
who am I kidding tho /n/ is 95% 140 lb manlets
Jersey has full front zip for cooling down on climbs and three huge pockets at the back for snacks. So why wouldn't you wear cycling clothes? They're literally designed for cycling. Normal fags often say "wow cyclists look fucking dumb I bet that doesn't make you go any faster" but it's not just about speed but functionality and comfort.

I've talked to several people who had no idea about the back pockets and just thought bike enthusiasts wore cycling jerseys because they wanted to look pro or something.
What are some alternatives to lycra?

spandex
Bib shorts and MTB style SPD shoes always.
On the road, a 3 pocket jersey crammed with gels and junk food. Tools are in a little bag under the seat.
On the trail, rip stop baggy shorts to keep from ripping my bibs in a crash, a loose jersey with no pockets and a pack full of tools and food.

I wear regular clothes. Not everyone has to be a branded lycra retard.

>MTB style SPD shoes
why do other shoes even exist
Cotton becomes really uncomfortable after a while, it absorbs sweat and rain and ends up feeling clammy. When you go quick the air whips the fabric around and that's also uncomfortable.
If I'm riding 5 miles or less I'd be in civvies, more and I'll definitely be in bike clothes.

People's perceptions are funny aren't they! Close fitting clothes vs baggy clothes the difference is huge! (relatively speaking.) Someone once told me "yeah but aerodynamics have no effect below 60mph" Everyone's an expert!

panties
Training:
1. Castelli aero bib (comfy)
2. race fit jersey (skeleton so nothing else fits me)
3. mesh base layer
4. Gloves unless I want to tan my hands
5. club socks or the gayest socks I can find
6. mid-range Specialized shoes (comfy)
Commute:
1. Moisture wicking t-shirt. Sometimes with mesh base layer.
2. Sometimes chamois underwear if it's really hot out or a long commute
3. Grey or black MTB shorts
4. Road shoes with walkable cleats because I don't give a fuck or shitty Adidas with clip on platforms (my training bike is my commuter for now)
5. The least gay socks I can find

Wool. But it's expensive and it has all the pros and cons of wool. Also 99% of bike jersies are poly not lycra.
>>970621
By lycra I'm mostly referring to shorts.
And would it be weird to wear a cycling Jersey and normal sport shorts?
>>970624
Yes, because shorts are more important than shirts. But vain people do it anyways because they're more averse to skin tight shorts with daiper pads and a tech-cloth shirt with a zipper and weird pockets.

Serious question what is the point of those mesh base layers?
>>970677
>cotton

/nigga you don't even ride
>>970689
The fact they provide no warmth or insulation? Base layers are worn not just for warmth but as a precaution for crashing. Having another layer of fabric helps reduce injury from sliding down the road. The fabric can slide over itself, stopping it from giving you a nasty friction burn.
