Seems like it must've been designed for para-military action against pirates & smugglers.
Google says they are used for sealifts and mine deployment. The latter makes more sense - you're not going to make much of a beachhead with seven of the things in service worldwide, but the four that Greece have could probably create a convincing naval blockade with mines in a relatively short span.
