Ok niggers, I just started riding my vitnage ultegra/shimano600 road bike.

what can I say Im in love, however the 40cm (deepdrop/traditional curve or whatever its called - its the standard on old steel race bikes) drop bar is very uncomfrtable on the hoods.

its not the reach, but the bend - even when Im on the drops I feel like my fingers are crushing each other and the hoods seem too low, what can you recommend it to have a better feel on both hoood and drops?

pic rel is the position I want to be closer to, however I have DT shifters and not STI
>>
Are you using those pointy break hoods? Those are quite uncomfortable, moreso with traditional bend drops. Consider getting something like the Tektro TRP RLL

>Are you using those pointy break hoods?

those are the ones, the position is as pic rel, its not the ergonomics of the hood that bother me its primarily how your hands get squished within the bends of the bar.

can I manipulete the position by rotating the bar and hoods or is a new bar needed?

You could rotate the bars down so you can put the hoods farther up and thus avoid the bend, but the drops position will look retarded. That's just the way classic bend bars work, you kind of grab them with the thumb and have your hand at the sides of them. You don't put your palms on top of them. If you're not comfortable with that position, get modern drops.
>>
>>967092
>You could rotate the bars down so you can put the hoods farther up

can I do the othervwise - roataing bars up and droping the hood slightly down (so that the lever is still vertical) ?
>>
>>967085
I like how tektro's luxury rebrand (trp) competes with those shitty origin 8 drilled levers those faggots on bikesforums use for 10-speed to too poor to buy a bianchi posts conversions
>>
>>967095
Yes but it'll look silly and you'll lose the drop position

Quill stem 1" to 1 1/18" adapter, threadless style stem, compact ergo drops

Easton is the most popular
>>
>>967091
> its not the ergonomics of the hood
Yes it is, you're just too stupid to realize it. The ergonomics of the hood dictate that they will never be able to be put in the same position as a integrated shifter.

that is what I was thinking but I have a traditional curved bar, most bars that do the former are comacts and ergonomic will it work ?>>967095

why hasnt that CX guy dropped the hoods slightly down?

OP - other posters are correct about rotating bars upward so that the ramps are horizontal. I wound up scoring an old Sakae randonneur bar (millions of old Schwinn 10-speeds shipped with them BITD) and set it up like this and it's COMFY

1-2 years ago I posted a few of my vintage bikes and all 3 /n/ posters raped me on the notion that I would adjust the angle of my drop bars/hoods for comfort over aesthetics

I figure those vegans probably died due to lack of B12 which is why the opinion on this matter has changed

Ignore any B12 lacking retards that suggest IT MUST BE X POSITION OR YOU ARE FRED

If it is an older bike with older hoods, place it for comfort to your liking for longer rides; or replace the hoods with more comfy

I have adjusted to please the cunts that stated I need to vote for Hillary and adjust my bar/hood position to be like SI brochure and it is beyond uncomfortable

I purchased Tektro brake levers to replace one of my older brake hoods, feels as nice as newer shift/brake hoods

Equally I have also adjusted other bikes that I do not want to replace the hoods on and it is much more comfortable than

Nitto Noodles. The no1 handlebar, praise to glorious nippon.

can you help me figure the exact type of BLB escobar bars? (yes i am the fixie fag anon with the wrong way bars, fuck off) Is there a specific specification or just oldschool drop bars?

It's a pretty custom design, something of a mix between pursuit drops, major taylors and mustache bars. Perfect for a unique snowflake such as yourself.

The ramps leading to the hoods are reasonably flat, which makes the hoods very comfortable. Also the bend at the top is very sharp which gives another good position, and makes the tops wider, also the tops curve towards you slightly which is very nice. The bend in the drops is very gradual, because it has a subtle sharp bend from the flat ramps, much like modern compact bars. Compared to several models of classic cinelli, sr and 3ttt, they are leagues superior. Also they are very light and strong (stood up to crashes). Would recommend for an old road bike.

>>972939
They are incredibly uncomfortable meme bars, where the only good positions are the most aggressive ones in the drops and right by the stem, while standard drop bars have 4+ positions.

I like Nitto's new garbon bars tho, because they didn't get retarded with the shape and have a very moderate drop and reach. Would be tempted to run them naked.

Do any more /n/igs have Nitto Noodle reviews? Got some currently in the post for my vintage racing/rando/whatever just riding bike project.

>>967649
I can also vouch for this being the case last year. I posted my bike in a PYBT with the slightly angled drop bars that are being recommended in this thread and was basically told to an hero for not respecting the classic orientation.

Likely followed by being asked if you have read the SI brochure and checked your units
