>Crippling social anxiety
Same and I'm insecure so I won't make friends with people that are not friendless like me.
>>
>>963678

I have friends that ride bikes, but they're all intimidated by the idea of riding a little more than 100 miles in a day for some reason. It's not like these people are out of shape either. 100 miles exactly is pretty much their cutoff for some reason none of them has been able to articulate :/
>>
>>963687
The single friend I have won't go over 30 miles. Personally, I find rides longer than 6 or 7 hours tend to bore very badly. I'm sure others are similar.

Hey LA dude, what are some good 100 mile rides in LA (road/touring)? I have to go back there twice a year to visit my in-laws so I'm buying a bike to leave at their house for rides

Their house is in huntington

I was thinking of taking the bike path up to pasadena, or going from huntington to Santa Monica
>>
>>963691

Whether or not a long ride is boring or not really depends on where you're riding I think. If you're out on some long ass flats, yeah that can be boring. In an urban area, or somewhere forested with some up and down is a different story IMHO.
>>
405, Oklahoma. Literally will ride with anyone. My on bike friend can't keep up. I like road, but I'm a fan of mountain. Contact me
>>
>>963769
If you want some really nice climbing, take the San Gabriel River Path up to 39. Make a right on East Fork Road, right on Glendora Mt. Road, then a right on Glendora Ridge Road all the way down back to civilization.
It's about 125 miles in total.
You could also stick around the Huntington Beach area, do Santiago Canyon to Live Oak Canyon. Looots of great infrastructure down in that area.
>>
>>963687
CA/OR area
super casual road

For me it's biking farther than I can reasonably get back (before dark), or else having to stay somewhere where my bike will likely get stolen.

I'm not in great shape so dunno how long 100 miles would take on the slopier roads around here, but I figure even if I had to walk part of it 50 miles wouldn't be hard in a day. Experienced bikers probably don't want to bike with people outside their level, so I imagine there's that too.
>>
>>963842

Thanks my friend
>>
>>963842
>Glendora Mt. Road, then a right on Glendora Ridge Road

Question my friend: could a 700c x 35 touring jawn handle these paths?
>>
>>963874
It's all paved. Just be careful for motorcyclists using it as a racetrack, very popular with everyone up there.
>>
>>963691
>>963805
I find road rides over 4ish hours start to just get boring. It can be hills or flats, doesnt matter. The only thing that doesnt make it boring is if you are exploring new territory and honestly thats getting to be a little tough to find for my rides.
>>
303/720/970 denver, soon to be foco hopefully.
just road bikes right now, also i'm old and cant break myself anymore.
minimal breaks and 17-18mph average for 50-70miles.. starts dropping pretty quickly after that but can do 100 with some proper planning.

This is why I don't understand roadies and club rides

Why on earth would I want to ruin the best part of cycling: long periods of time alone doing whatever I want

Not stopping when I want, going faster/slower than I want, having to worry about others... NO. Only person I dont mind doing that for is my old lady or my kids when they grow up

From huntington beach you can take PCH all the way down to san diego, then take the metrolink back up to irvine and bike back to huntington, slightly under 100 miles total.

Metrolink has dedicated bicycle cars with lock-friendly racks.

Road only, currently in Anaheim but soon to move to Irvine.

Often hit up SGRT and SART, ride down to San Diego for day trips, do an over-nighter to Santa Barbara three or four times a year, and one long tour(this year I did San Diego to Portland.)

I'm slow as fuck, and don't mind going even slower for new riders. I'm also pretty good at tracking down cheap bikes on craigslist if you need help finding something for road use.

Anyway, don't expect anyone from my area to spend their spare time shitposting here, pretty quiet area but I know there's a few cyclists at least, even saw a single group ride last year.
