>"My favorite thing to do is ride a bicycle. I ride road bikes. And for me, it's mobile meditation." Robin Williams.

I can't find anything that heals me like riding my bike. I can go outside with friends, reading books, watch tv...but nothing of that makes me genuinely happy, so happy when I can't ride I get sad.

“When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark, when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle and go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the ride you are taking.”

Recreation. Commute. Exercise.

I can't see well enough to drive but I can see well enough to cycle if I plan my route right and don't pull stupid shit in traffic (to the inevitable "ur a retarded fagit wait til you die," I've calculated and accepted my risk).

Didn't know /n/ was this poor

Neckbeards that use it because they can't afford cars tells me a lot
>>
I just like bikes, and bicycle touring. It's fast/slow enough that I see a lot and notice more details than on a motorcycle or in a car, and unlike the motor vehicles it feels more like I've actually accomplished something.
>>
Biking literally appeals to me no matter what mood I'm in. Like, right now I'm depressed because my girlfriend moved across the country last week and I know that we're through. But, hopping in the saddle this evening took all my sad and negative thoughts away and instead filled me with joy. Sure, she'll be fucking some guy soon enough but I'll most likely be fucking some other girl soon enough. If I'm single for a while it just means that I can ride more and jerk it once in a while.

>>963273
Also, this.

I'm not sure bit it looks a bit like a hill that someone (Chris Akrigg I think) goes down doing a wheelie backwards on a roadbike in Roadbike party 2.
At 3:45.

I don't think it's actually the same hill though.

I grew up in Manhattan and came to believe that cycling was a very fast and convenient way to get to school and work.

I tried competitive cycling a few times and found that recreational riding, either alone or in groups, was more satisfying.

After I moved to California suburbia I enjoyed cycling even more because I could escape being a prisoner of the car that I already spent too much time commuting to work.

I enjoy working on my bikes. I've owned many kinds and my ranking of bikes by fun-per-dollar-spent might surprise some people as some of my inexpensive bikes have provided the most fun over the years. One of my first good bikes was just re-born as my Eroica bike.

Basically this, I rode a shit ton post breakup with my gf. I don't even know why, but it was kinda like you need to actually focus on so many factors and you can forget about everything else.

Also we both tried to get fitter whilst we were dating and now whenever I see her, I can see that she is stagnating in her old ways and that I am still marching towards my goal of skinny arms and phat legs.

Basically helps me feels better about myself by knowing other people aren't as fit as me

This.
Riding is the last thing that keeps me alive, even if I spend most of the time commuting silly distances and not being fast. Off-season months I spend in buses and without sunlight is the time I am actually considering ending this nightmare, but the moment I start riding again all my worries go away and I'm cool (even if my life doesn't change a tiniest fucking tit bit shit).

Does it really work? I mean, a cool beer after a ride is fucking great (but I usually don't think about getting one earlier and can't be bothered thinking about getting one when I'd need it most).
Cheers.

Yesterday i saw a pooinloo in a car2go, these shitty rentacars in seattle

He was honking over a guy following the laws in front of him

So i mounted up, chased him down, beat him in speed on a downhill, and merged in front of him with another biker before i slowed down.

The honking was fucking glorious. I havent had that much fun since i had to fuck with cabs back in chicago.

You can have so much more fun biking when you dont have a branding on you. I need to start shouting "postmates life" when i cycledick people.

But anyway, i bike because its a fucking paycheck. And its a full time job for me

commuted on shitty townbikes all my life but thats only <10 minute rides.

road cycling in spare time whenever I can because its just such a peaceful thing to do. I also like to watch birds and whatever is happening around me while riding. Nothing beats going on a huge ride on a drizzly sunday evening with absolutely nobody else on the road with the smell of wet grass and the sounds of birds.

I like to ride my bike because I'm a worthless pathetic autistic friendless permavirgin shut-in loser. While I don't really go to any trails or anything like that and just kind of do city riding, at least it keeps me from being any more shut-in. It is sad to be out there alone all the time passing people in their friend groups or with a gf/bf, knowing im just doing this so im literally not locked in my room, but oh well

even worse because im in the bay area which has beautiful bike stuff everywhere yet i do none of it anyway

I feel you bud. But social interaction is like every other skill, the more you do it, the easier it comes to you. I know its hard, but just fucking get out there and do shit that requires group interaction (take bicycle maintenance classes, for example, or any night class for something that interests you). Strike up some small talk when your at the store, or every/any chance you get. Go volunteer, which is perfect opportunity to have a positive impact on others and for yourself, or anything that requires you to be interacting with people. Who cares if you think you sounded stupid or "autistic" during some minor social interaction the first 50 times? Your the only one replaying it constantly in your head. Also, your on the right track cycling, but work out more, eat right, and get enough sleep. It makes a world of difference.

Just keep at it bud.

And remember....

YOU'RE MY BOY, BLUE!
