am i expected to sit on it naked?

If I were female I would probably buy that.

Why do they make the saddles real hard only to add a bunch of padding to the shorts?

This. I would also like to know.

They aren't that hard, your doughy arse is delicate. I use a fizik kurve snake. Looks hard but it's the most comfortable thing I've ever sat on.
>>

>>961303
>>961309
I think it's something to do with the padding conforming to your body rather than rubbing against it.
>>
>>961303
>>961309
No matter how much padding you put on a saddle it will still be uncomfortable as you rub your thighs against it. shorts stick with you and mean you always have the padding without friction.
>>
>>961303
how else do you shred weight?

>>
>>961303
Padding on your ass stays on position. Padding on the saddle gets squished between your sit bones and is the main source of discomfort for any ride lasting longer than 30km.
>>
>>961303
The padding isn't there to soften the ride. Its main function is to pull sweat away from your skin so you don't get ass chafing or tinea.

Had it, it's shit. Spec Alias is infinitely better.
And Brooks B17 is infinitely best. I might try a different model in the future but I'm not venturing outside of leather ever again.

Want to get a brooks but they're too popular. Suggestions?

skin stretches as starts to hurt after a whike when its plunged into a foamy soft depression.

'Hard' seats with a thin foam cover (10mm maximum depression) are most comfortable.

Giant TranceX1 from 2009 has an excellent seat. I've used that seat for over 50,000 km. Being ~40km per weekday.

Anyone here use a Charge Spoon? I pulled the trigger since its only 25 buckaroos. Is it any good or did I just flush money down the toilet?

I hear some people around here praise the crap out of it, and others mercilessly mock it.

As usual, it probably depends on your butt. Not that it's much to lose,
>>
Anyone have experience with ISM saddles? My road bike is otherwise pretty much perfect but the stock bontrager saddle has a disagreement with my dick and balls.
>>
>>962138
I got one for free in like new condition and am trying it out now. I'm still struggling with the aesthetics of it, but this is merely a superficial issue. The seat position of where you actually sit is a bit more forward on the saddle and they suggest you all kinds of things on their website to make sure your sitting correctly.

Right now I'm in the ass/ass muscles/taint/cock-n-balls readjustment/getting-used-to-it stage, so my mind isn't really made up. Though, I do suffer from numb cock and balls after long rides and I'm pretty tired of it. Some dudes that I ride with have these saddles and swear up and down to never return to a regular saddle, with their numbness subsiding in only a few months of use.

So I guess here's to raging boners and obliterating my girlfriends sperm depository in a few months.
>>
>>962138
Hate it. I think it works with a vary specific seating position with a very specific sitbone width. If you sit on the wide part, the wide nose digs into your thighs. If you sit on the nose, like you're supposed to, it only supports you if your sitbones sit on the twin noses.

I can't believe I fell for the Brooks meme once.

There is a cable boss for internal routing unused and the shifters clearly don't have cables in the bosses

guys i need your help, im literally butthurt now. ive been ignoring the pain, but it seems im on the way to acquiring two new assholes. i absolutely need a new saddle, so:

1) what's the whole padding/ no padding thing? - i get that too much will stretch my skin and too little will localize the pressure to my hindsides' detriment. but how much should I look for? I ride with no padding in my pants

2) do gel/neoprene covers help?

3) is suspension worth it? elastomers?

4) are there models with noodly rails for dat flex?

5) how is pic related?

Ive been riding selleroyal respiro for the last 6 months and while is has always been hard, it only came to real discomfort after I started taking 50km rides almost daily

budget: 50 eurobucks

I have that saddle in tan leather (not suede). It's okay, I have it on a beater. It feels better than Brooks but nowhere near my Fizik saddles.

That said, the saddle that is right for me, may not be right for you. For me, it's fine on a commuter/bar bike and shorter rides. For you, you may love it or you may hate it.

Can you try riding it first? Also if you like a particular saddle, you might be able to find it on eBay for cheap if you can find it as a new take off or a saddle that someone picked up, tried, and didn't like.
>>
>>966328
1. No padding is too harsh on your sitbones, too much padding will cause chafing, what you want is a stiff saddle but with a very thin layer of foam.
2. They help for about 15 minutes until your sitbones sink into them and start chafing like fuck
3. No
4. No
5. It's alright but generally for narrow sitbones.

Seriously just measure your sitbones and get a saddle with the proper width, then fiddle around with the position. Also test ride as many as you can.
>>
>>966331
>>966339

Thanks guys!
i measured the sitbones and they are 100-105mm apart(centres of pressure areas on flat surface). as I pedal they do not move around. Is that considered wide? because I will most likely get a wtb rocket in wide

I have one of the old titanico models from 2010

heavy buy it feels like a comfy hammock compared to a brooks

Here's my favorite roadie saddle. It's old and not made anymore but you can get a used one on ebay for $40 if you're interested.

firm, carbon body, Titanium rails.. just enough padding where you sit bones land. I've been in it for 10 hours at a time with minimal suffering
