It's a warm summer afternoon.
You are going to bike into town to chase girls and drink beer.
What bike will you ride and what will you wear?

Bike fashion thread.
>>
I understand most people on /n/ now are hipster faggots from /fa/ but holy shit fuck off
>>

its winter in the first world
>>

I only have one bike. Pic related with mudguards and bar ends (and new tyres because the ones that came with it were unbelievably shit).
>>
full tricky rick and a awol !

/fa/ /n/ cross poster !
>>
>>928828

I live within walking distance to the bars I usually go to. For locations further away I use public transport.

It is a stupid idea to go drinking and then ride your bike when you're drunk so I don't do that.
>>
>>928835
Drunk riding is how I got into biking in the first place.
Do you even pub ride?
>>
>>928833
All Pinnacles come with shit tyres.

Source: I work in an Evans Cycles
>>
>>928835
You don't have to use your own bike. When I'm done with driving I just check the closest bike secured with a cable lock and use a small cutting tool I keep in my bag to steal it and ride back home.

So much this. Taxi is for shucks.

It's going to be my dedicated bar-bike, the one with duomatic at back. Normal clothes, maybe a real shirt instead of a tee if I'm feeling fancy.
>>
>>928835
What this guy said.

Most cycling fatalities in my city are during drunk hours. Riding drunk isn't even fun, and my neighborhood bar has great drinks and good people. It's 2 blocks from my apartment.

DH bike and full face helmet, impress the chicks by dropping stairs and pulling mad stoppies.

I jumped down a flight of stairs in Whistler Village, some (very drunk) chick comes up saying how cool that was. Started asking me to take her back to my room, all that.

Probably an early 90's road bike in good condition with downtube shifters. "Fashionable," practical, comfortable.

I remember I woke up a girl's bed, went outside to the sign I locked it too and found the rear tire had a puncture flat

He made sure I got there before going flat. Truly a great friend

>>
>>929372
is that an adventure bike?
>>
>>929375
ya, all those gravel trails and fire roads in Philly.

but he'll tell you it's an adventure bike rather than cop to how retarded that ring is for the city.

>philly shreds
out of touch old guy here, what does that mean? I see people using the word "shred" in the context of cycling and I don't get it. all I can think of is how whenever I'm in philly I see a lot of people who are legally adults, riding their bikes on the sidewalk. I really dislike the cycling culture in that city.
>>
>>929114
>>929138

faggots.

nobody cracked the trip. he typed it into the subject field by accident one day. hilarity ensued.

>I see people using the word "shred"

In this context I think it's similar to shralping
>>
>>929435

PhillyShreds was a website that listed punk/hardcore/metal shows in Philly. Guitar shredding

In my prime it was around 2008-2012 biking in Philly was dangerous. No bike lanes, hateful cars. It was great though. The only people who rode knew what they were doing

Now there is an acceptance of bike culture and a huge flood of shitty cyclists everywhere

Tons of mexican illegals, old asian people, and poor black guys are now riding their huffy MTB down the sidewalks. It's infuriating. On the road, I'm stuck behind hipster women on uprights all the time.

>>929375

It's just a road bike but I have a 32c front / 28c rear

>>929415

It's a 38t and I spin. City riding is all start and stop. Faster than what is on there is not needed for city commuting, at least with how I pedal
>>
>>929803
yeah I hate bicycle infrastructure and like being racist too
>>
>>928828
The American flag, the one thing a cager will hesitate to run over.
>>
>>929846
A local sports team jersey might be a good defence too. Just gotta be careful not to venture to enemy territory.
>>
>>929131
Just wait until you get your front tire stuck in a tram rail and you smash your teeth in the pavement.
>>
>>929895
no one is talking about riding in a blackout drunk anon, just a healthy deep buzz

Alcoholism: the mindset

1 in 5 cycling fatalities involved the cyclist drinking in the hours before death

You're certainly not going to suggest that 1 in 5 bicycle trips is preceded by alcohol abuse, are you?
>>
>>929924
bicycle fatalities are rare anon.
why worry about them?
I would have thought most were alcohol related.
the world is too safe as it is.
literally everyone survives.
evolution is dead for us.
>>
>>929131
Fun as hell. I remember one cold night I slipped on black ice (on a bike path) and for some reason it was the funniest thing ever and I laughed my ass off there for a good while.

That said, the town has excellent bike paths so I only need to pay extra good attention on road crossings.

Another time I woke up from a dream. It was a bad, reapeating drunken dream of me dragging my bike in a field, a forest and in some sort of industrial area. Everything felt normal. "What a bad dream." Then I saw my muddy shoes on the floor...
>>
>>929924
what a faggot
>>
I usually ride for about 1 - 2 km and then take off my jumper because I've warmed up.
>>
>>
>>929939
A statistically significant number of cyclist deaths can be attributed to error on the riders part

>blowing a stop sign or red light and getting creamed by cross traffic
>riding without lights at night and getting hit
>suffering a major head injury that would have been lessened with a helmet
>riding impaired and committing one of the above

There are others that can't be avoided if you are on 2 wheels

>inattentive/drunk drivers
>road rage: cager vs bike
>fatal heart defect pronounced after crushing an epic climb

As for style

>vintage or modern production steel frame with modern wheels and drivetrain
>"vintage" accessories like brooks saddle, saddle bag, ect
>clean jersey and practical shoes with cycling shorts under your choice of shorts

You might not be the fastest person on the road, but you won't be compared to the 1 nut wonder.
>>
>>932524
>fatal heart defect pronounced after crushing an epic climb
>not preventable
>>
>>932526
I always hear of 1-2 highschool football players in my area dropping dead during summer training camp. Coroner comes back with congenital heart defect every time when one of these 14-16 year olds drops on the field. Doctors don't screen for it unless their is a history in the family.

DESU it is not a bad way to go. Sudden and painless. One minute you feel like a champ for riding up that hill. The next you are cycling Valhalla with Sheldon Brown.

When I got really smashed as an early teen I would ride with my hands wide out like those scenes where lovers run across a field. That shit was lit. Drunk confidence is a killer.
>>
>>929846
>>929847
I'm a cager in a big Italian city and when I see cyclists wearing flashy "race-like" clothing I get this sudden urge to run them over... like, I hate them more even if they're doing nothing wrong. So I just turn 9001x times more cautious because I expect them to do stupid race shit on the road.

So yes I think it'd work as a way to not get run over if that applies worldwide.
>>
>>935895
Lol, I'd never ride a bicycle in an Italian city - you guys are complete fucking cockheads on the road.
