See a doctor, please.

That's the 2nd most awful color for bicycles OF ALL TIME. It would beat out fluoro/hunter orange for first place if it wasn't for the speckle paint job, which marks it as part of a (blessedly) short-lived fad where suggestible people where gulled into believing that "visibility" was synonymous with "makes me want to vomit."

Not really, just some old Bianchi frame with Italian BB threading, hence why it's been sitting there for quite a while. I have an almost complete Golden Arrow groupset so I guess I'll slap that on it and beat it around.

Just bought my first roadbike for $350. A 1993 Diamondback Prevail TG. Rides way better than a lot of the bikes I tried in comparable price ranges. And it's a steel frame, and 22 years old.

Only issue is, the saddle is fucking uncomfortable as fuck.

What the fuck is an internet bike?
>>
>>915036
A bike bought from someplace like Bike's Direct. Despite being made from the same components in the same factories with the same groupsets people like to shit on them because "LOL, you paid lesss for your biek than me."

>source: proud owner of several internet bikes.
>>
>>915039
>several
Shit. I was gonna buy a carbon. I bought a local fuji alloy for same price. Worried about carbon.
Inb4 carbon speech
>>
>>915004
How much is an assload?

Also. About the components. I've noticed they're all Ultegra. They don't put those on cheap bikes anymore, it looks like. Any reason for this?
>>
>>915048
They never put Ultegra on cheap bikes. Ultegra, basically by definition is high end.
>>
>>915039
Not the same components, and the frames are usually not great. Lots of cut corners. A BD Ultegra bike is usually not equivalent to a name brand Ultegra bike. It's still a good deal, but you shouldn't fool yourself thinking it's the same.
>>
>>915050
Keep telling yourself that. The Kinesis factory where my bikes were built is the same factory that builds brand frames such as Felt, Trek, Kona, etc...
>>
>>915048
You don't need to spend an "assload" what you do need to do is determine what kind of riding you do, then get fitted for a saddle or fit yourself to the best of your abilities. Determine the width of your sit bones and buy a saddle that is intended for the application of your riding and for the physiology of your bottom.

A good saddle will run you close to $100. A decent saddle about half that. Anything below that and you're venturing into dangerous territory. Especially if you're riding for long, extended periods of time.
>>
The winter machine is doing well :)

>>915050
This is exactly what I mean by getting shitted on for having an internet bike.

>>915051
>Keep telling yourself that. The Kinesis factory where my bikes were built is the same factory that builds brand frames such as Felt, Trek, Kona, etc...
First of all, that's not true. Trek's current subcontractor is Giant. Kinesis is just one of Kona's suppliers, they don't make every Kona frame. Second of all, every factory is more than capable of making several different qualities of bicycle frames. Just because Kinesis makes a super ultra hydroformed frame for someone doesn't mean their straight gauge econo-frame is the same quality. And that still doesn't account for for the fact that BD on average cuts more corners with component specs. You guys are like the idiots who think their aliexpress frames are 100% as good of the real thing, instead of just accepting that it might be a bit inferior, but you also saved a lot of money. Instead, you have to try to convince yourself, it is exactly as good in every way.

>>
>>915146
Thanks for the compliment, mate.

>>915126
That's one of the major points for me riding through the winter. It's like me bitch-slapping mother nature. While everyone else is bundled up in six parkas and complaining about their walk from the car to their house, I'm out putting in miles in it.

>>915146
I don't like to do training or anything in this weather, but getting to and from work, the store, coffee shops, whatever, makes me feel a little bit better than other people and especially the other cyclist in town who forgo a bicycle in favor of a car for this time of year.

>>915148
If your fingertips are numb after 15 minutes you need to get better gloves. I always layer mine up. I use a pair of under-armour second skin gloves as a base layer, then I throw a pair of really thick and insulated hunters gloves over top of those. My hands stay toasty for dayyyyys, son.

It's my feet that get it the worst. I've found that buying wool socks from the hunting section work the best. Actually, a lot of my cold weather gear is adopted from hunting gear because they're usually about mobility and warmth.

>>
>>915357
Probably a good starter fat bike... depending on your body size, I believe shorter stems handle better for any descending or technical riding. Also make sure you have enough seat post inserted in the frame still to prevent breaking your seat tube.... looks like it's really far out.

Save up for a pair of Surly Nate 120tpi tires (worth it over the low tpi for suppleness which provides much more grip especially at low temps), you'll easily get 5x more traction and control over the Missions which are arguably one of the worst fat bike tires out there for control, especially in snow. I'm sure they roll fast though.

My half-fatty. mid-fat (2.8) rear.

This thing absolutely rips in the snow... able to track stand on steep snowy slopes and ride things never before possible in the winter. Rear-fat only really helps for climbing, so I don't crave it as I like the standard Q-factor and supreme snow control I have already, nice getting low low over the rear on steeps, which would be quite higher with to a full fat rear. Kinda miss the lowness of my 24" rear I used on my BFe before, but much longer tire contact patch with larger diameter wheel, which helps greatly

The roll-over capability on my Vee 5.05" is insane... over 31" diameter.

Longer stem would fix your issue. If you look at flat bar road bikes, I bet you'll notice the top tube is a couple cm longer. When you put risers on a road geo meant for drop bars and hoods, you have to compensate for it with a longer stem.

>Steering too slow

Thats not a mountain bike.

>>
>>916253
Not him, but those are frame rub protectors, not seals. Your shifter cable in the front is stupid long, but you could put it on so there's a bumper between the cable and the fork, although normally it protects head tube paint. If you didn't zip the back cable, you could have also put one there so it doesn't rub off chainstay paint.
>>
>>916254
Ok cool.
I didn't want to cut the cable down in case I go back to drop bars.
>>
>>916258
You can get silver braided housing for $12 off aliexpress, but the brake cables are downgraded, and not compressionless.

Michelin Dynamic Classics, and thanks! The Michelin's are a great value ($30 CAD for the set on chain reaction) but after 3000km i'm flatting like a mad cunt. Wanna do some touring so I'm gonna splurge on some Panaracer Pasela PT's soon.

Love your Soma, those hammered fenders would look great on my Cannondale.
>>
>>916381
personally I like the ones you have. your frame and trim is so low key, I like the matching fenders. I like chrome fenders as a classic look on some bikes, but I've always thought the hammered ones look god-awful. guess I'm weird, but I never understood the appeal of such a busy pattern.
>>
>>916423
>>916381
Other anon beat me to it - your Cannondale looks good with those fenders. You could use silver plastic fenders if you wanted something flashier (would match the 'dale decal and your matte grey parts), but polished alu fenders, which are distinctively old-fashioned, would look out of place on a bike with oversized tubing.
>>
>>916423
It hides dents and scratches
>>
>>916423
>>916428
yeah I suppose. I was stoked when I got the ones I have on, but plastic gets beaten up and ends up looking like shit
they have silver trim that's made of foil and it's starting to flake off and shit. Idk, I kinda really like the rando look those hammered fenders have, but at the same time it's a lil retrogrouchy and yeah it might clash with the bike a bit. Shame cause I'd love to have a frame pump as well, for practical purposes more than anything, but they only really work when the top tube is the same diameter

I hope my bike doesn't die
>>
>>916381
You can probably get away with rotating that lock so that it points backwards, and then you'll have room for a 2nd bottle cage. There's a sweet spot where you can get the lock so that it doesn't hit your leg while pedaling. I'd post a pic, but the bike I have setup this way isn't here right now.

I realized that would have been impossible 5% of the way through. Luckly i had a design that was kinda like Camo, so i could layer and patch it on. In hindsight, I would have sprung for UV resistant vinyl at an extra cost. I like how it looks all warn over time, and adds protection to salt corrosion .I had to take the whole thing apart- but it's been on there for 4 years now. The lines of red and black i did with electric tape to add a color scheme
