the current main station wasn't the mainstation until last year. It used to be the south station before the promotion.
Interestingly though, the west station which used to be the main hub, doesn't connect to the airport either unless you count the airport bus lines.

I guess the management of the airport didn't want to spend more money after the way too expensive refurbishing of the airport in the last years. Probably thought Wien-Mitte was good enough to get people where they want next in Vienna since on the subway lines there connects directly to the then-mainstation Westbahnhof.

I've been living in Prague for the past months.
Had bad expectations, but the public transport is amazing:

-Commuter train explansion. Now people that live more than 100km away can come to Kuala Lumpur daily (for work) just by using public transport. Hell I live like 50km away from my workplace and I hardly use my car to go to work anymore (the traffic jams are horrible, though I imagine it's not as horrible as in Jakarta/Manila)

-The frequency could be better. LRT is alright (about 2 minutes headway), but commuter train took forever to arrive. I'd rather have short train with short headway than long train with long headway)
-Some of the expansion should be done 10 years ago, but the leader that time thought it would be better to invest in expressways than in LRT/MRT line expansion. So now we're paying for it (too many cars on road and a generation of people who would rather drive even though they could go to the same place with public transport)
-Bus service is unreliable. The bus are new but the frequency is horrible. Hell, in some places, the bus service is non existent

When they started the whole public trasport project almost 20 years ago, they let private sector to do it. So what we have is a mess (lines are not integrated and the exchange distance is too far). When the companies folded (and the government is forced to take over), it's just too expensive to rectify the problem, so we have to make do with it and carry on
-Taxi service is shit. Most of them don't even use meter and would actually threathen the would be passengers. Now when we have alternative (uber,grabcar,etc), they started crying for "muh competition" and even blocked the road and do mob justice on uber drivers.
-Train is narrow gauge(1000mm), so the fastest a train could go is around 160km/h. Not fast enough for interurban travel

Cities will be modernized and extended around the centers that already exist, with tribute paid to the available space and terrain and the people that live there. One Politican from a district wants to expend the Subway towards the airport, but the highest member of the Bundesland doesn't want to share the costs to build that way.

Kyoto, Japan
Pros:
Everybody in the city cycles, including the 90 year old grannies.
The city is just the right size for cycling. 40 minutes max from one side of the city to the other. Also, the whole city is pretty flat.
The mountains around Kyoto are completely undeveloped by law and absolutely beautiful. Many roads in the mountains with few cars and nice gradients (pic related)
Hands down the best city in Japan in terms of quality of life. Much more interesting than Tokyo or Osaka. Much more greenery than either of those cities.
Has the 2nd most university students after Tokyo.
Cons:
Not as many shops and nightlife as bigger Japanese cities. But you're 30 min away from Osaka so I guess it's not a huge deal.

Not enough bike parking. As a consequence most people just park anywhere they can and tens of thousands of bikes get taken away to the pound every year. You have to pay a small fine and go get your bike back at some shitty place across the city.
If there is a cycling lane, cars will always be parked in it.
Not enough trains or streetcars in the city. But I guess it's a pro at the same time because it's the reason why so many people cycle.
Since the city doesn't have many train lines, there are buses everywhere. The buses are usually on time, but they are pretty slow overall and the last bus is usually around 10PM. Meaning that if you are out partying, you better take the taxi back or cycle.

They do have a couple now. The first ones were installed on the south exit (hachijo-guchi) of Kyoto station. And this year they just finished installing a couple of those underground cylinders in front of Kyoto city hall.
The problem with those is that they are mad expensive to build, and cost tens of thousands of dollars in maintenance fees every year on top of the milions in construction costs. Another big issues is that they can only be used with a monthly subscription. You can't use them if you go somewhere 3 or 4 times a month unless you are paying the monthly fee.
A good solution would perhaps be those larger above ground automated parking towers, since a big part of the costs is digging underground. They are in dire need of them in the city center and some stations with regular flat parking are completely full all the time.
