Hate to admit it but, yeah, cyclists are partially at fault. As a 3+ year cyclist/commuter I can confidentially say that you can avoid most, if not all .complications if you keep best practices in mind (i.e. situational awareness, stopping at intersections, looking both ways, yielding when necessary, not insisting on the right of way, bike maintenance, visibility, safety equipment, know what roads to take, when to ride particular roads, knowing when to take the full lane etc.)
