Strava is the cancer that is killing cycling. Even with the changes they've made it still encourages the worst behavior out of people, and no matter what they do it allows people to believe they're 'racing' while they're actually doing nothing of the sort. Plus, you can easily cheat at Strava in so many different ways. If you want to race, then go sign up for a real road race, otherwise stop pretending. It's almost as bad as that silly 'virtual racing' crap where you're on a trainer in your house 'racing' against people and on 'group rides'. What a joke. Go out and do it for real.
Oh and by the way Strava isn't 'Transportation' in any way shape or form, so it doesn't belong here. >>>/asp/

I'm sorry you're so narrow sighted. I'll continue using Strava to track my rides how I please.

I'm with this guy. Fuck strava. You want to race, join a race. Most of the bad press cycling has gotten in my (otherwise pro-bike) area is directly related to someone crashing trying to get a KOM. Strava is why I have to defend cycling when I should not have to.
ITT: Kids with no friends whine about how Strava is for people pretending to race. We get it, guys. You see people in full Lycra flying past you on your MTB and get mad.
>>939009
>>939017
You can either race or use Strava, certainly not both. These two are the same kind of posters that pop up in bike threads and say YOU DON'T NEED A LIGHTER BIKE JUST GET FASTER! We get it, you are a Cat 5 with an aluminum bike and have to justify your bleak existence through posts like this. People use Strava because it's fun, if it's not fun don't use it. Those who can do do, those who can't whine about what other people do - Sheldon
What the fuck? you autists actually take KOMs and shit seriously? and you hate Strava because KOMs and segments exist? that makes no sense..
I use strava to track my rides and progress and compare the data to myself and my friends, and nothing else. I looked at the KOMs on one of my rides a few years ago and all the leaders had impossible times of 400 km/h or more so I never looked at them again, who the fuck cares about some fake online leaderboard bullshit?
>>939017
>Most of the bad press cycling has gotten in my area is directly related to someone crashing trying to get a KOM. Strava is why [..]
Strava is not at fault. Strava is a website, not a human being. The fault lies entirely on the spastic who was riding dangerously and caused an accident.
GIRL? please accept my follow request thanx

Strava and it's ilk help confirm if you're doing what you say you're doing. The social aspect is enticing - getting feedback from friends about your rides. If you like data analysis you can compare your performance on different bikes (or different diets) over the same route.
Using Strava goes wrong when you ignore or annoy people in the here and now in the hopes of collecting a more perfect upload. E.g. you blow by your friends in the parking lot because you have to ride another thirty seconds to finish a strava segment. Or worse, you're climbing a trail and think you might be setting a new personal record - you ignore a rider needing mechanical help - because Strava.

I can't choose where I live. I'd do a lot better in races if it was hilly, I'm only like 133lbs soaking wet. I'd like to point out that my last century had 3k feet of climbing, doot doot. Let me come sleep on your couch and we can shred hills all weekend brah.

damn
at least I have to ride with a heavy ass rucksack.
>>939409
>mfw I have no face and I created that about 2 years ago
Holy hell time flies.
I rode my first ride today after 4 months. The last time I put any serious volume in was on October 2014.
I got rear ended by a cager on a stoplight (while on a motorbike) about 2 months ago and I'll be done with rehabilitation this Friday.
I don't think I'll be posting any TT efforts or rides with 2500m of elevation but I am definitely back for good.
It'll be a looooong road getting back to shape. I'm happy to have started.
>tfw you manually stop it for some dumb reason and then forget to turn it back on for 3 more miles
Yeah I know I'm slow as fuck, I'm just starting out and this was my longest ride yet.
>>943611
You deserve getting hit for owning a rose bike.
>>943672
all that matters is if you are having fun anon.
also mine

>>939229
It has recently been brought to my attention that my weekly distance much like yours is simply junk miles.
>>943611
Fuck that feel of getting back on the bike. I started riding again after several months of not riding as well because spring break.
And I did it on a shitty city bike as well, do I get a candy?
>>943672
Hey fellow 850fag, come ride on st. marks. Its a nice trail.
>>939047
kek
>>939223
just followed ya.
>>940558
not bad anon. That gradient is about the same as my local little mountain I like to climb
>>943958
Follow me so we can stalk each other on strava
>>943958
Also have a picture of the mountain
>>943927
My friend and I are actually planning on riding the St Marks trail for the first time on Saturday, I'm looking forward to it.
I'm gonna buy a shitty mtb so I can ride the trails at Tom Brown and Forest Meadows, I used to ride them all the time when I had one.
I rode the first Segment of the St Marks trail from Lake Bradford Rd by Doak to Gaile Ave and the trail splits there where you head down to the coast next to Woodville Hwy, or continue straight on Gaile Ave which is what I did. The trail takes you to Jack McLean park.
>>943681
>please point on the doll where the direct-sales business model touched you
>>943774
I KNOW BRUH. It was pure happiness and zen for those short 20 minutes. I'll do about 2 more rides at 20 minutes and then I'll bump it to 25 minutes, 30 if I'm feeling courageous. Keep on it anon.
Iron bike
Cheap as fuck
i did another 90+ ride .. omg... this is 2014 all over again love u guys.

Not bad. Don't think I'm gonna make mine, somehow though. Discipline and motivation be fleeting things.
>planned to get on fs leader board this week
>fall ill
>mental illness starts flaring up coz I can't ride
>think about how much life sucks, how fucked my life is, how shit I am in every way and how no one likes me
I need to keep improving my PRs and explore new places. It makes me feel great and sleep perfectly.
guys this guy drove a car through my strava segments and didn't even beat one of them.. itold him his car was "fukin slow" and he followed me and then unfollowed me instantly. He lives 1 mile away from me guys im scared as fuck atm
>>944417
ahahah
be brave seth
I don't race Koms on strava. I race myself from 3 weeks ago.
>>944436
I wish there was a real-time ghost racing feature
>>944439
There basically is if you have a garmin that does live-tracking.
You can time against your personal best, the KOM, the best time of people your follow, or a set goal.
>>944417
Lul, he has a 448km ride at 72km/h average speed. Max of 151km/h!
What the actual fuck. Are people really so retarded that they think they'll get away with this?
Also, do you just not rest? Your training log is insane, 28 rides in 4 weeks. Only 3 true rest days.
>>944548
Well I got a few rides that are like 1 hour long at 80 watts which I feel is good recovery. This is my big week I think, probably going to do a bit less next week
In other news I managed to call a late 40s guy "son" and a "gargantuan pussy" in the same conversation
https://www.strava.com/athletes/12375798
Just a fattie trying to be a bit less fat.
>>939223
FLA FIXED FRIEND!
>>943927
Did it yesterday, it was my longest ride ever by far.
It's amazing how far you can go when the terrain is perfectly flat.
>>945218
>20m elevation
I literally climb more leaving my street
>>945222
Yeah it's crazy flat South of town. To the North, East, and West of the city there are rolling hills, riding around town for 10 miles I'll have a about a 425 ft elevation change.
God fucking damn it
>>945232
where the fuk u live bro?fuking north pole?
>>945249
I love in Colorado, this is how it looks without snow.
>>945260
>>945262
its a colorado party in here, I could ride in what we got here but I'm sick too and sick+snow= me not getting better.
>>945266
The night after I put slicks on my cross bike too
>>945266
dont you watch the weather? they were saying if all conditions were perfect that we were going to get 3 ft... right now though its more like 6 inches and its not really sticking to the roads.
I think I overdid it. Help me /n/. Have you "overtrained"?
>>947536
Well done anon, i'd sport that kit
>>947536
This is nice, how about the front. It's been over a year since the Nomads Jersey . time for a new one.
>>944439
If you have a Garmin you can use this:
http://gniza.org/segments/#/
It's exactly as much fun as you imagine.
>>948372
No. No one can ever make up their minds collectively on what they want and no one wants to put in any effort.

If not, then pretty weird how there's another Abbie Archer in Edinburgh...
413 km behind the pace for the annual distance goal I set. Should be able to catch up by next weekend.
>>950077
