I hope everyone enjoyed the debate tonight. We're one step closer to creating some wonderful, environmentally friendly coral reefs.

The question is: once the cagers have been placed in the bottom of the sea, where they rightfully belong, what will become of the schrader valve? Will retrogrouch hipsters begin to collect them, much like with rim brakes and cloth bar tape?

Or will they be relegated to a curiosity, for museums only?
>>
Is this even a question? They will continue to be used in air-sprung suspension units.

There is literally nothing wrong with Schrader.

You mean for your manchild MTB toys?

How will you even get them to the ski jump without your cage?
>>

i've only ever used schrader

A state of the art cable car system funded by cager reparations to the cycling community.
>>
I personally think you're right, they'll go obsolete. Unfortunately, they're on my 1984 nighthawk. Right on the forks, they're air pressurized.
>>
I think they should still be produced because they are easier to work with while wearing thick gloves and/or with numb fingers, making them an excellent option during winter.
>tfw have to change a flat during winter when it's cold as fuck
>tfw fingers barely work

Presta is easier to let air out. Schrader doesn't look like a french dildo so... Schrader wins.
>>
>>888613
Fuck off, Niko.
>>
Schrader is fucking easy to use, just stick a pump on it or push an air chuck to it to get it filled. If you need to empty it fast you can use a tool to pull the core, just stick something in it to hold it open, or use your finger hold it open. What are the advantages of presta anyway?
>>
>>893426
It's longer so it pokes thru all rims, no matter how deep.
>>
>>893426
Presta valves are better for bikes because they're narrower, which means you don't have to drill as large a hole in a rim (stronger, allows for narrower rim profiles).
>>
>>893426
>Schrader is fucking easy to use
If you're having trouble with presta valves you must be literally retarded.
>If you need to empty it fast you can use a tool to pull the core
Of course, because reaching for a tool and disassembling the valve core is way fast.
>What are the advantages of presta anyway?
It's autistic-proof. Any autismo roaming the streets won't steal your presta-equipped bike because he won't be able to fill the tires.

>Doesn't require a valve cap
I would like to point out that schrader doesn't need a valve cap either.

I bike 200 miles a week and I have never used a valve cap. What's the fucking point.
>>
>>894110
There is a possibility for debris to cause the valve to depress and leak slightly. Presta's captive nut obviates this risk.

Did someone say easier to leat air?

(You should spit to the valve before pumping to prevent that, btw.)
>>
>>894149
If you aren't keeping track of your tire pressure regularly then you're an idiot anyway.

Air is gonna leak a little no matter what. If you only maybe sorta increase this risk, then it shouldn't change anything for the prepared.
>>
>>894157
>obsessively checking your pressure with a digital meter after every 100 miles
I realize you aren't prepared to hear this, but there is something wrong with you. You should be able to feel when the pressure has gotten lower, you then add more air and it's good to go.

The only time you should be obsessing over pressure is if you just switched to a new kind of tire and you can't correlate the feel of the ride to the desired amount of pressure
>>
>>894159
I literally never said anything like that.

I mean squeezing your tire every few rides or so just to see if it's time for a fill up.

There are people who don't do this. There are people who don't understand why they keep getting pinch flats. They'll fill a tube once and call that good enough forever.

Schrader. Don't mean to possibly anyone off, but its a fancy high pressure Schrader valve. Tires have nitrogen in them

TROLL THREAD???

If being serious then there are some really stupid people in the world.

-
Schrader is a shitload better because:

= you can replace the valve if it leaks
= fill the tube easily with slime by removing valve
= internal valve mech so it cannot snap off at all
universal fittment for cars so any service statiion can fill your tyres
= rims with larger hole can take either
= fancy and artistic valve caps if you want them
= not ghey

>>898173

Dunlop is cubic shitloads better because:

= you can replace the valve tube if it leaks
= dunlop valve can be removed without special tools
= no valve mech so nothing can snap off at all
= universal fiting that's compatible with all bicycle pumps whereas with schrader you always need to check
= small rim hole for slimmer rims
= valvecap sits very asthetically on top of the valve nut
= not ghey either

Because it's the most readily available gas on the planet.
>>
>>898192
In 78/21/1 mixture with O and Ar.
>>
>>898192
Nitrogen is used as an inert gas. For applications where this doesn't matter or is too expensive, one would use plain air, which is the actual most readily available gas on the planet.

aaand back to reality
Why dunlop is the shittest of shit, even shittier then schraeder

>Have to remove the the valve nut that holds the valve in place if you want to insert or remove it from the rim hole
>more sensetive to moisture and dirt,I often see valves that just are stuck and cant be pumped up even with our 10 bar compressor,a normal jolt with a HP pump sometimes works tho to free the ball
>Most of not all pressure gauges wont work with dunlop, the exceptions being schwalbe's valve (and you will still need a schwalbe aimax gauge)
>the rim hole is just big as with schrader;about 8,5 mm,only presta is thinner at 6,5mm
>Very ghey, they are literally used because "muh autism cannot handle change" for the dumb fuck NetherFucktards
>cheaper and older tubes have a shitty little rubber hose that acts as valve,it often leaks at that point and is considerably harder to pump up (more resistance)

Dunlop valves suck shit.
