wow, seriously? Is there no train lover in here? Is there no one who admires Japanese train transportation system? Japan has the most advanced train system in the world. Any train otakus here?

Not a train otaku, but I do like my trains. I like them so much I get paid to ride them. :D

Don't worry OP, I'm sure "how to train for a race" threads are much more related to transportation.
>>
>>884303
Of course there weren't trains on the front page. They belong on /o/.

2chan has a trains board, it doesn't have a cycling board.

Also there are way more anime and popular culture media depicting trains than bicycles. "Japanese bike culture" is something you made up to feel better about yourself and your shitty hobby.

Anyway, I saw a CSX coal train passing a grade crossing today. Sounded beautiful.

We need to give the fucking gay bicyclists their own forum. I like bikes, but not enough to talk about them on the internet. I want to talk about trains.

How do bicycles come under transport anyway? Transport is buses, rail and aviation. Not bicycles or cars.

Every day the front page is filled with gay bike threads which I don't give a single fuck about. Plus the actual cyclists here are all retarded and admire shit 1990s mountain bikes, gie people terrible advice and are stupid enough to frequently crash into car doors.

I am a cyclist, and I don't have a car. Cyclists, please fuck off and leave /n/, this is a transport board.

That is the JNR 583 Series EMU, which was built in the late 60s/early 70s as a dual-purpose train for both long distance overnight and daytime limited express services using convertible seats (so sleeper during the night and box seats during the day). It saw service from the Tohoku corridor (Tokyo to Aomori) and the Kansai~Kyushu areas. However, they eventually become redundant as the completion of the Sanyo Shinkansen and the Tohoku Shinkansen reduced the needs of many of those daytime services.

As JNR's financial problems became much worse in the early 1980s and they began to shift from locomotive hauled carriages to D/EMUs, in 1983 JNR began to convert 153 out of the 434 cars into 419/715 Series EMU for regular suburban train services in various areas (they didn't build too many new EMUs so they converted surplus EMUs for local services, this is just one example). [lolnospoiler] While they did their job, but the original interior and exterior design made it a rather shitty commuter train and JR Kyushu / JR East / JR West eventually began to scrap them starting at the end of the 1990s as the condition of those cars began to get worse from wear and tear[/lolnospoiler]

Pic related as this is the only active set (6 cars) left, operated by JR East in its original JNR livery. The one in the OP pic is in the West JR livery and one cab car will be preserved in the soon to be opened Kyoto Railway Museum (The rest of them were scrapped some time early this decade)

Is this the same emu that was doing the hayabusa blue train service?
>>

Hey OP, this thread has been fucking terrible to read. All, literally every single one, of the responses have been cancer.

Why did you post this? Did you think it would generate good responses? What was your intention?

Every thread on the board is like this, just full of stupid people posting dumb things. The only irony utilised is the most basic which even sub-average intellects could engage in.

I'd like a thorough explanation please.
>>
>>891590
This is a Japanese culture board for Americans, Europeans and Australians aren't allowed here. So "utilise" your mouse and close your browser.

Nah, Hayabusa (and basically all Blue Trains) are locomotive hauled carriages.
