I don't know why that carpet is so famous, and quite frankly I think it's a little silly, but whatever.
I grabbed this picture while landing at HNL a few months ago. It's crazy how it went from raining on the tarmac, to bright and sunny and humid as fuck as soon as we got off the plane.

Do go, it really is an absolutely beautiful state. During my stay we went to Oahu and Maui, and both were really different and amazing in their own ways. If you want to drive around in the country and experience the amazing oceanside views, go to Maui and rent a car, or if you're looking for the big city with lots to do and the main beach, Oahu definitely, but you really can't go wrong with either. I 100% want to go back!

AFAIK the only big airlines ZQN takes are Air New Zealand, Qantas, Jetstar, and Virgin Australia. I never liked Air Canada until I flew first class.
It was the only first class experience I've had but it was pretty cool.
The Air Canada lounges have free food, free coffee, and most importantly, free booze.
When we were actually in flight I felt pretty cool. They had an open bar with decent selection, and checked in on me frequently.
It was made even better by the fact that I was flying home and several people I knew were on the flight in economy. For those few, brief hours I caught a glimpse of how rich people must feel about the peasantry.
