It's a bike chair holder, but they're normally not sold as individual parts. You will probably need to but a new bike chair stick.

Does anyone ride with a camera recording their ride?

Why?

No.
Because that would produce 2h of footage a day I'd never look at. It would be like recording my office job.
In 25 years of riding bicycles in traffic, I've never been in a situation where I thought "damn, I wish I had that on video as evidence".
Besides, it wouldn't be admissible in court where I live.
Besides, I don't wear a helmet I could mount it on.

I can see if they are racing or taking a wild MTB ride, but just normally have a camera going all the time? It's usually somebody like pic related
>>
>>906536
If cameras came down to be the size of a small taillight and cost the same, I'd ride with them because why not. I'm always in heavy traffic and you never know what some idiot cager will try.

Since they're still large and clunky and front/rear cameras would cost at least half a grand, I'll do without

You're a fucking idiot for accepting $100 to "forget" it.

I bought this. It's a bicycle from the 90's. The original finish is ruined, the hub bearings are shot. There's this black crust everywhere that I may be able to remove with paint thinner and a brass brush.

I think I'll change the wheels, probably the hubs too if the cups are too damaged.

I'm going to strip all the paint and refinish it.

What color should I spray paint this bicycle?

Hi-viz yellow
>>
>>908372

I thought about a quirky color like that, but that would be too much of an eye sore, so instead I'll refinish it in a faux-retro style, kinda like this.

I bought paint stripping gel. I should have researched the subject a lot more before starting this, because you can't use nitrile gloves. The paint stripper will melt them and it burns like liquid hell if even a tiny droplet stouches your skin. I managed to strip the paint off the fork completely and coat it with primer, but I'll wait until...

youre best bet is to take it to a radiator shop and have them dunk it in the tank, it'll strip all the paint off.

Should I buy a shim or a used carbon seatpost. Shim plus a 27.2mm seatpost should be slightly lighter, but not by much. I expect any comfort added by the carbon will be countered by the larger diameter. My plans for getting a used Thompson ended when the guy decided there weren't enough bids and pulled the auction.

The problem I see with the shim is that apparently water can do down the crack because there is no seal.
>>
>>898153
You'll be fine either way - seatposts contribute almost nothing to bike comfort unless you get a suspension seatpost, and the tiny gap created by a shim is nothing to worry about unless you're storing your bike outside and exposed to the weather.
>>
>>898153
woudln't this be /bqg/?
also I don't see what the hangup is people have about thompson seatposts.

Washing hubs is a pain in the ass. Evermore so if it's some boutique brand so I have to scour the net to find its bearings and proprietary tools. Just get some shimano and it's done.
>>
>>907320
they look like something that belongs on a crappy lowrider bike
>>
>>907320
>Why aren't these more popular
Because they're over-engineered for bicycle use, in practical terms they give very small benefit for an extreme increase in cost.

Put up anti-cage barriers in strategic locations such as freeway onramps, and paint a lot of bike lanes.

It is to my understanding that one of the major issues is that the RTA is somehow powerful enough to kek the CTA, Metra and Pace out of getting anything accomplished on their own, but not powerful enough to force them to do anything.
>>
>>904047
25 million dollars probably won't even buy you a full El train set anymore.
That being said the RTA and other associated agencies could be reformed to be more autonomous so projects wouldn't constantly get staled by political NIMBYism.

I got overly excited when my High Rollers and Minions came in post today, originally was meant to put the HR on the back and the Minion up front. Impatience got the better of me and I accidentally put the HR on the front/Minion on the back. Everyone else seems to have it what I wanted to do the first time. Mainly going to do XC and light jumps downhill. Am I going to notice a difference big enough for me to change it over? Huge pain in the ass the first time, hated it. Or will I be fine?

Depends on how good of a rider you are and the size of the tires. If one of them is wider, it needs to be up front. Otherwise, they're both downhill tires, you'll be fine.
>>
>>905760
they're both 2.3s on a 27.5. I'd say I'm a novice rider. I won't be getting too sideways because I still have my 3x9 setup and I want to get some middle clearance and change it to a 1x9.
>>
>>905764

Don't stress it. If it feels weird or you want to switch it up, go ahead, but neither is made to be a 'front' or 'rear' tire specifically. Shouldn't be an issue.

Yo /n/.

I got my first bike since I was a kid yesterday. It's nothing fancy, since I'm only planning to use it for commute.

The catch is, I'm unfit. Not to the point of pic related, but still, not great. A couple of days ago, when I first got it, I rode it from my usual bus stop to my house and it cut down my commute time like mad. From a 20 minute walk to a mere 5 minutes.

When I got home, I have no stamina, and my thighs felt like shit, which I expected, muscle pains, but the thing I didn't expect was my calves having no strength which...

I'm like that in the pic.

It's taken me a few weeks for my legs to not give out on me as soon as I get off the bike and I'm a sweaty, miserable mess five weeks into it every time I get off the bike but I'm down 12 lbs and I'm finding I'm less groggy and can stand for a lot longer without my feet and ankles starting to kill me.
>>
>>904457
two weeks or so. consider using an easier gear and stretching out your calves before riding. you can't just go from an unstretched resting state to mashing hard on your pedals.
>>
Make sure your cadence is up nice and high. Like 80-100 rpm.

Why are cyclists such fucking scumbags?

They love ringing their bell on the sidewalk, while passively aggressively saying “excuse me!”, as if they have the right of way there too.

They'll sometimes do this while going full speed on the sidewalk.

It's even worse when it's a narrow sidewalk where I literally have to step into the grass to get out of the way. They'll also sometimes do this while riding down a steep sidewalk as if I'm supposed to know which way I'm supposed to move when they're behind me. Yeah, ringing...

Prepare your anus to sit in what seems like an endless traffic jam for 4 hrs to travel 6km. Also, some hijab girl will start talking loud on her phone or eating fucking durian. No thanks, bro. I'd rather walk in the 98% humidity and smell the piss and feces boiling in the gutters than ride an Indonesian public bus.
