This is the Zaftig, a replacement fork/rack. The stock $200 Zaftig can be had for threaded or threadless headsets, and is designed for a 20-inch (BMX) wheel.

I don't get why you'd need/want that much travel on a cargo bike. Also the rack should be on the suspended part of the fork so your cargo doesn't get shaken when you go over a bump.

Hmm. I see you have some wisdom.

I have a back seatpost rack (alum, really not that good). i don't super NEED a rack so far, but they want me to have one

I want a front rack, but i love drops and aeroness. what should i look for? i allready know i need to abandon my super tight quick release fixie nonsense because the QR's will get bent

I think it's rigid, it's just made to look like a DH fork

How do you guys keep your bikes clean in shit weather? I'm in the middle of rebuilding & cleaning mine for the second time this winter and I'm fuckin sick of it. Ideas? I'm adding a front mud flap, but my calipers still seem to get all grimey and gum up. They're pretty old though.

Depends, when the weather is going to be consistently cold and wet I don't worry about anything except wiping buildup off moving parts. When the weather's nice, I'll give a bike a basic cleaning every 2-3 rides, and I always plan to do a complete overhaul once the threat of winter snows is over for the year.

I put a lot of km's on the bike and I'm just concerned about the longevity of wear parts & components. I think I've already completely fried cassette & chain at this point, under 1000k on both.

How often do you replace your chain & cassette in winter generally?
>>
Fuck that. It's supposed to be dirty and grimy. I've come to accept the fact that cassette and chain will need to be replaced when spring comes around every year.

What city still has a high amount of fixed gear/tarck bike hipsters? Im just curious.

Does it matter?

Not SF, most of the hipsters here have gone to adventure bikes, and Portland looked to be going that way last time I was there. Your best bet would probably be a 3rd rate hipster city like Ft Collins CO, SLC, or Columbus OH
>>
>>922132
your pic is definitely related. Outside of schuykill banks (freds) there are probably 75% single/fixed gears on the streets.

Should I buy the Nashbar CR5 Carbon Ultegra for $1,404 (22% off $1800) or a CAAD10 Aluminum 105 for $1,549?

http://www.rei.com/product/892491/cannondale-caad10-105-5-womens-bike-2016

All the experienced cyclists said real cyclists ride aluminum and you're a stupid fred if you ride carbon.

Is it worth the extra $150, and the downgrade to 105 to upgrade from the carbon frame to the aluminum one? Or should I save $150 to put towards an upgrade wheelset and have the nicer Ultegra parts...

Nashbar sells cheap crap as a business model. Likely the wheels on that bike are shit. Seatpost, stem, wheels would need an upgrade to be a serious bike. But that price for Ultegra is something. Notice the brakes are FSA. They cut every corner to make that, then slapped Ultegra on it. It's cool, but keep all of that in mind.

Cannondale isn't the special company they once were, so don't get too excited about them. Their pre-outsourcing frames are amazing though

I like carbon but I don't...

Shitty transit planning thread

Today opens a new subway extension in Barcelona, although it's not really an extension because the line it's part of hast it's central part still incomplete and with no work being done on it (because spaniards are retarded at planning infrastructure and we can't pay for it now).

This is almost 20km of new subway line, the largest single stretch ever put in service. Howwever, the line is godawfully designed (just look at all those ridiculous twists and turns), and this is the line that reaches the airport, rendering...
