Not only the fastest marine circumnavigation, but absolutely BTFO power boats, completing their circumnavigation 15 DAYS faster than the fastest power boat.

Powerboats absolutely BTFO!

The average speed was 26 knots, most ocean liners and military ships cruise at 30+ knots. I have a feeling there are thousands of powered ships that could beat this record. Also I am getting sick and tired of round the world records being set by going around Antarctica. Round the world means following the equator as close as possible which means passing through the Suez and Panama canals.
>>
>>946821
Around the world doesn't mean following an equatorial route, it implies it. You're implying that the context is inaccurate. I get what you're saying, but who cares?

If most all people in sailing say 'around the world' and they mean achieving it by sailing around the tip of South America and South Africa then there is no other context to need to frame it in. The precedence has long since been set and the same definition used for a very long time.

Also, good luck sailing the equator...

1005 KB,
My life goal is to complete the RAAM within the time limit without a support death cage. I will be the first and only human to do it. Unless Marco does it with me. I'll still be the first because I'll beat him by a few seconds. The final few kilometers will be a glorious sprint where I prove that I am the best cyclist.

they already have and it's a good thing.

Nah, I'm fine with it as is, ie sharing a lane and subject to the same laws as motorists; I'll continue to break the rules that are really stupid or don't apply to the situations I'm in though, just like every other safe and conscious cyclist. I'll continue to wave through the odd car at an intersections where I could assume right of way also, just to make sure I don't get ground to paste.
It all evens out I think.

>>
>>958581
Screw in your limit screw on the front so you can't shift. Congratulations, you now have a 1x. If you would like a single speed, simply do the same on the rear. Have fun.

>>958584
There this zen you know, do having a 1x, and not having to shift the front derailer. Just turn your brain off and don't shift the front, just enjoy the simplicity and pure essence of cycling. And since you aren't using your brain anyways you don't have to wear a helmet either.
>>
>>958584
1x is pretty standard for DH and it's catching on in XC. I'm converting to 1x on my XC bike this summer (also replacing the entire drivetrain).

> Do I need to change the rear derauller too, if so why?
No, the derailleur doesn't need to be changed out but you will need to have a compatible bb for your new crankset, a new chain (mostly because it's inexpensive and you should be replacing your chain regularly anyhow, but also because the chain must be compatible...

The bracket is made by Minoura. http://www.amazon.com/Minoura-SBH-300-Saddle-Water-Bottle/dp/B001B13J1E/

The bottle cages themselves are Profile Designs Kages. If you use normal cages, the bottles will slingshot every time you hit a bump, so you need some with more gripping force. These are the ones I use: http://www.amazon.com/Profile-Design-KA1-Kage-Black/dp/B0018PJXTU/
There's multiple Profile Designs bottles with Kage in the name, so if you get them, make sure it's the exact kind I linked.

679 KB,
Some anons were planning to set up an order for Gen 1.1 jerseys last year. By late fall, it hadn't been set up yet, and people were losing interest with winter approaching (because they're fucking casuals who don't cycle during winter), so the project was halted indefinitely.

With spring well underway and summer fast approaching, I think now is the perfect time to resurrect this. There were a number of variations of the jersey last year, with pic related being the most popular version, so we'll probably go with pic related or something very similar....

There was also some concern regarding the Gen 1 rear sprocket logo being placed too low, and making sure that the mistake is not repeated in Gen 1.1. I will specifically address that issue when discussing with our chosen producer to ensure that they get it right.

Some anons also voiced an interest in other products such as shorts, bibs, caps, socks, and bottles. If people still want these, I would encourage other anons to design mockups for these products that match the jersey. I can provide high-res versions of the logos used on the jersey upon request. We'll then...

607 KB,
I'm looking for a new bike. Road bike isn't bad because I'll be using it for travel. Generally 1-5 miles sometimes up to 10. Won't be using it off road too much(if at all). I'm thinking about the GMC 25" Denali 700c. Good reviews and I know two people that own them. Also, I don't know too much about bikes.

I do currently have a bike but it just sucks, very hard to ride and the ballbearings around the handlebar area is breaking. I usually ride my brothers bike which is a Trek mountain bike, don't know off the top of my head....

With that kind of budget you're not going to get anything nice. If I were in your shoes and you really can't find anything better used, what I'd do would be to get a very simple hybrid bike from Walmart/Target/sporting goods chain/etc. and pay a bike shop (or someone you know who can work on bikes) to make sure the wheels are true and the bearings are all greased and adjusted properly BEFORE you ride on it. Treated properly these bikes still won't be great, but they will work reliably for at least...

I'm looking into buying my first proper mountain bike. This is the front runner, I can get it about $650

What is /n/ opinion of marlin7? I like the hydraulic brakes, double wall rims, adjustable shock and lockout. I'm having trouble finding anything with a comparable component set out of the box. What you guys think?

The Marlin is a pretty decent entry-level bike, about the same as a Giant Talon or Specialized Rockhopper. If you rode it and liked it, and it's in your budget, I see no reason not to buy one.

34 KB,
Who's ridden Greyhound and do you have any bizarre stories? I know their infamous for attracting the lowest common denominator types. I took it once, but only for about a 7 hour trip, wasn't too eventful except some low life wanting to pick a fight with some person who accidental took their spot after a stop break. There's bound to be some good greyhound (or any other long distance bus) stories you have to tell, this has the potentional to be an interesting thread.
