i don't know, i discovered them back in 2011 or something as part of a sharethread and i was the only one that replied to the guy that posted it.

i remember maybe back in january or december i started making some threads about albums /mu/ never discuss and i posted among them mizutani and then a couple weeks later people kept spamming live 77' (which i think is all right but not their best or second best even) and then it started spiralling out of control.

i cant imply that i had anything to do with their popularity, though i did discuss them at basically any chance when i get on, so when i cant sleep i pretend their newfound popularity is tangentially related to my activities.

dude it's their best, its mostly really soft acoustic and psychedelic, really beautiful melodies and some tame jams at the end. really recommend you check it out.

(and dude's on the cover of basically every album yeah he's a narcissist)
>>
>>64389383
LRD are popular among avant-teens because they're Japanese. Their music is as gimmicky as it gets (DUDE FEEDBACK AND THE WORST RECORDING IMAGINABLE LMAO) and no one actually likes it, people only pretend they do.
>>
my top 10; ignore the ashcroft album

Coil opened my ears and my mind in a way that possibly nobody else has quite managed to such a degree since. They led me off on all sorts of tangents, musical and non-musical, If it wasn't for them I would have never discovered artists such as Merzbow, Throbbing Gristle, Nurse with Wound, Death in June, Current 93, Popol Vuh, Fishmans, This Heat, Les Rallizes Denudes, Unwound, Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman, The Gerogerigegege, Thinking Fellers Union Local 282, Morton Feldman and many others.

Ever since I discovered Coil, I spent the last 2 years trying to hear every second of sound Coil ever recorded. I can’t imagine a day will ever come when I tire of listening to them. Their music is endlessly rewarding and nothing and nobody else sounds remotely like them. They truly created their own sonic universe and trying to lump them in any genre is a fool’s errand.

Also, John Balance was an incredibly beautiful man.

Pic related: My favorite album of all time.

>>64389462
not all of their recordings are like that (and not to mention some people DO ACTUALLY like really lo-fi and tons of feedback i mean shit we have noise generals here)

their cleanest recordings are mizutani and doubleheads, which has a bunch of clean takes.

hey man if it's not your cup of tea cool, but i dig it. i do agree that live 77' is maybe too noisy.
>>
>>64389428
>Mizutani seriously name one of LRD albums after himself? That's narcissistic as fuck.

He's Japanese, they can't be narcissistic.
>>

>>
Why did we stop liking /mu/core?
>>
>>64389567
Gotta leave the nest sometime
>>
>>64389567
you're allowed to like /mu/core but you're not allowed to have them be most of your favorite albums, that's the /mu/ equivalent of being a basic bitch.

i mean it doesn't do much for discussion when everyone likes the same 20-30 albums.

I thought everyone in that picture except maybe Feldman or the Japanese noise meme band is way too popular for avant-teens.
