Why did Lou do this? Bowie and Iggy got people who perfectly suit them, Lou got shitty has-beens who have nothing in common with him.

Lulu is pretty underrated. Post Deppression was good but nothing that special, just a nice rock album.

Post Pop Depression = Blackstar > Lulu
PPD is the least experimental of the bunch but I think it's immensely enjoyable rock n roll. Blackstar is the most cohesive of the bunch. Some of Lulu works but a lot of it falls flat, I wish Lou had gotten an art rock band to make it instead of Metallica.

Explain how Blackstar is similar to Scott Walker
The only SW album it ((((((vaguely)))))) resembles is Climate of Hunter, and mostly because of the vocal style and reverb-heavy synthetic production. The lyrics, arrangements and song structures are not similar, and Blackstar is influenced by different genres than Scott Walker

What albums have you listened to? He's made pretty different records over the years.
Usually the appeal is good songwriting and his charismatic and powerful singing. Hunky Dory is more folk influenced, Ziggy Stardust is a glam rock album, Low and 'Heroes' are more art rock with occasional electronic/ambient influences, etc.
If you don't like it you don't like it but the appeal seems fairly clear to me.

If you like bluesy metal like Ozzy era Black Sabbath then start with The Man Who Sold the World. If you like soul music or krautrock then start with Station to Station. If you like post-punk/new wave then start with Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps).
