It's a day in April or something like that.

Listen to your library, show off your backlog, whine about new music, tell us what you have been listening to today and what you will listen to in the following month, just let the good times flow.

well, /daily/

here are my final poorly written reviews before I leave for Japan tomorrow

I'm glad I finished my backlog chart before the trip

Bill Evans - You Must Believe in Spring

Evans once again shows his skill at playing the piano and producing some of the coolest jazz around. Pretty standard album but very good. Happy Jez face/10.

Mamoru Fujieda - Patterns of Plants

I liked this a lot. The way it was made is pretty interesting and produced some good stuff. It certainly reminds me of a Japanese garden. Happy Jez face/10.

George Coleman - Bongo Joe

Fun and weird album. The Coleman's vocals, lyrics and homemade drums combined resulted in some interesting music. Happy Jez face/10.

Curse of the Golden Vampire - Mass Destruction

I want to break shit because of this album. Fun stuff. Happy Jez face/10.

Sondre Lerche - Faces Down

This was pretty good. Much better than I expected desu. Neat little pop melodies. Happy Jez face/10.

Lee Moses - Time and Place

Sweet stuff. Great vocals, good riffs and good basslines. Liked it. Happy Jez face/10.

The Brand New Heavies - s/t

Neat groovy tunes. Nothing too memorable but good stuff. Happy Jez face/10.

Really dig the dark sound and atmosphere. A lot of captivating songs but I'd have loved this even more if some of the most atmospheric parts didn't drag that much. Still my favorite from here so far. Needs more listens.

>Amnesia Scanner - Angels Rig Hook
A 14-minute subway ride through Manhattan in a dark, dystopian future. Emotionlessly uttered, sterilised spoken word sections set the mood, with oppressive, booming beats kicking in every now and then, then disappearing as quickly as they came. Even though this EP does an excellent job of transporting the listener to dark alleyways and crowded clubs, the real catch here is the phenomenal soundcraft and attention to detail. These beats sound smoother than anything I've ever heard, the drums are punchy and crystal clear, the basses are absolutely filthy, the synthesizers sound both strangely organic and sterile. All of the musical ideas presented here would make for killer standalone tracks, had they been expanded upon. Sadly, none of them truly live up to their full potential as their brevity doesn't quite allow them to lull you into a trance, but there's lots of good shit to be found here.
The lyricism (if you can call it that) is a bit inconsistent; most of it is very blunt, some of it to the point where they beat you over the head with it.
As a whole though, the picture painted is vivid, the music is fantastic and I need to hear more from these guys.
8/10-ish.

A Malaysian shoegaze act with a great wall of sound with plenty of energy. It would of been better if the vocals where mixed differently, it sounds too distant and doesn't really blend in well with the music.

>Boris w/ Merzbow
Boris' compositions here were really... not... interesting... very meh for Boris's output.

Merzbow's stuff was cool. Didn't quite make up for the over an hour I spent listening to boreis.

my media player also fucked up the track listing and I didn't notice so I ended up listening to track 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 then 1 + 2 of the Boris side of the album. Woops :^)

>Alan Lee Jazz Quartet and Friends - Gallery Concert 1973
woah that was some cool stuff. Recording quality was a bit poor. Everything else quality was a bit totally very far from poor.

>The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico

I put this off for a long time, but when you forget its massive reputation and let it do what it wants to do it's a lot less scary. Hearing Sunday Morning on a sunday morning was nice. I think this could have been as good or better than WLWH, but I'm not a fan of the tracks that mainly feature Nico. Still, it has some of the best tracks from either album (I'm Waiting for the Man, Heroin, Black Angel's Death Song, etc.)

>The Velvet Underground - White Light / White Heat

The budget gets lowered, and everything else gets turned up to match it. I LOVE the literal storytelling on The Gift, and while Sister Ray is great, I think I Heard Her Call My Name gets me almost as much without taking nearly as long, and without all the dumb stuff about ding-dongs.

The recording isn't the best, which is strange considering how great most live jazz records are. I think it had more to do with the acoustics of the room than the equipment itself is my guess. Music is lovely tho I agree <3

>I think it had more to do with the acoustics of the room than the equipment itself is my guess.
Mostly correct. It's that the room tone was about as loud as the instruments themselves, which does not make for a nice, clean recording.

I listened to it. It was nice! Some of the songs reminded me of gamelan in a way, most of it reminded me more of certain Coil songs though. I think the 22-minute track wasn't interesting enough to justify its length, but the rest was totally good & that one track wasn't bad or anything either, just too long for what it was doing 0:
