understandable, he's not a very strong singer. The fact their lyrics are literally cool words strung together without a care for meaning is pretty charming to me though.
from what I gathered the vocals are supposed to be mixed way low live and they mostly focus on developing riffs and extended jamming, which sounds really great to me. the best live shows are the ones where you can just get llost in the music and forget about everything else

If you mean punk in the broadest sense of the word, then I'd say most 90's post-hardcore does it for me. I think there's a greater variety of emotions at play compared to old-school-style punk rock.
In any case, it's not really the fact that all the songs are hook-based that sort of brings it down, it's more that the album doesn't have anything else to set itself apart from the rest.

3 stars isnt a bad rating. it just hasnt really affected me, maybe after a couple more listens
also no pussyfooting is unmemorable at best and annoying at worst. i'm a big fan of ambient, and recognize the album's contribution to the genre, but eno and fripp wanking each other with electric guitars is not enjoyable, engaging music. might have been mind-blowing in 1971 but it's not 1971.

admittedly i'm not the biggest floyd fan anymore either, but their music had a huge impact on my life for a time. Really opened my mind in a lot of ways; before i started listening to pink floyd i never really listened to music, and was very sheltered.. then again that mightve just been all the pot and acid lol

Definitely agree with you about that, that's why I'm pretty strict with myself about listening to everything new at least twice. The first couple times I heard King Of Limbs I thought it was mediocre, and then slowly it grew on me and I kept noticing things I'd missed before, and now it's in my top 5 albums OAT

It's a good mindset, I think. I follow a similar rule, but in some cases I just can't listen to an album twice.
Those are really limited though.
My musical "breakthrough" was thanks to a The Strokes song called Soma. It's not the most complex song out there, but it really clicked. Before that I only listened to a classical radio station in the car.

yeah, haven't heard them yet. I really liked Peng and was honestly a bit let down by Groop and Transient. Still good though, a 3 is a good rating. Will definitely get to those albums soon.
