I used to listen to metal a lot until I turned 15 or so. By "a lot" I mean almost exclusively. I still listen to them, though, but only certain albums and only sometimes.
I only really listen to Gojira now, and their newest album put me off a lot. More into Desert/Stoner shit now like Kyuss and Samsara Blues Expiriment.

13, but I find myself going back and listening to some Death and Metallica every now and then. Some Kvelertak too, as of recent.
I don't "grow out" of any music I previously liked, I think most people only say that because of the embarrassment that comes with liking it. I exclusively listened to metal up until 15, and that's where I broadened my horizon. Do I still listen to metal? Fuck yeah. Do I listen to other genres as well? Yes. As a musician I can say that when you listen to a multitude of various genres, you become more musically adept and influences on your music can bring new themes, new styles, and overall new music.

I did "grow out" of many genres though, especially angry genres like Metal and Punk. I didn't do it out of embarrassing but I'm not an angry or high;y emotional person anymore.

I remember myself listening to Eluveitie and the melodic stuff from metal (feeling victorious that I finally liked something with harsh vocals) and discovering Hatesphere. I Immediately thought to myself "This si too much, but maybe if I listen to this long enough I might get used to this band".
Thankfully now I don't feel shame and the fact that I now play the flute shows how far I've gone philosophically from what I thought back then.
