IMHO beat happening S/T is their best love the other albums but everything on that is twee at its best.
pic related also
Keep meaning to delve deeper into the genre, love a lot of what I've heard
>>66477058
I love the shop assistants.
Pic related is pretty twee. It's very indebted to acts like the field mice and early mbv
>>66477447
great record, I'm more inclined toward the more post-punky side of the spectrum though

>>66478273
Seems weird to have only one beat happening album on an essential chart, and to have it be that one.
new to twee
is there anything comparable to the songwriting on this? not necessarily in terms of length, but those melodies are so lovely
>>66478654
tried really hard to get into frankie. but never liked her unfortunately
>>66478885
really? i got hooked like immediately, which is rare for me
finally a general that isn't full of shitposting and people who have no idea what they're talking about.
I'm proud of you, /twee/
I asked for some twee recs a few weeks ago and got no replies, then this shows up
love ya guys
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVwE7T5Tyeg this ep is best heavenly work ever
>>66479030
nah vocals were nice but everything else felt more like a youth lagoon ripoff and he does that better. even diiv
tho we're going more into jangle pop territory
I loved ALvvays debut

Diet Cig makes me think of tweemo, and Los Campesinos' second album We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed does too.

my personal favorite of rose melberg's projects. if you like tiger trap, imagine all of the grit being sanded off and you get go sailor. on first listen i felt like it was kind of samey, but in this case it's definitely not a bad thing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDz5iazGlCo
check out trixies big red motorbike - all day long in bliss and lullatone - plays pajama pop pour vous
Is Felt twee? I'm a real Felthead, but only up until Sunlight Bathed the Golden Glow.
Pic related is 30 minutes I'll never get tired of relistening.
>>66476890
What do you guys think about this?

>>66480664
>>66480664
holy shit i love you please post your lastfm if you have one.. i cannot stress enough how underrated this album is i prefer it over all their later work evergreen dazed and i worship the sun are such amazing songs
>>66479399
125 rue montmatre are so good
>>66477231
Nobody else seems to love Tender Trap, Heavenly, etc. ITT but 3 hours later I'm still coming back to this song. And Brown Eyes from the same album (Film Molecules) made me cry. Dammit if twee doesn't hurt sometimes.
>>66478172
Holy shit this is so good and right up my alley.
thanks man
Fuck I love twee. I think "Heavenly vs. Satan" is my favorite album. I feel that "Colossal Youth" by Young Marble Giants should be considered a go-to precursor albums, maybe on the chart or whatever. What do you guys think? Also Quarterkbacks (New Paltz NY) are pretty good.
>>66481004
Nice man. Heavenly never made a bad song, so listen to their whole discography if you haven't yet. They become better and better at playing from release to release.
In case you guys are interested, a couple years ago Sam Ray (Ricky Eat Acid, Teen Suicide) put together a mix for Fader including a lot of the bands mentioned in this thread (Heavenly, Rocketship, Trixie's Big Red Motorbike, Go Sailor, etc.). It's a great listen and turned me on to a few new bands that I now love.

I'm a Cathedral, Fortune and Templeroy man myself. Listen to the youtube clip entitled Felt on Spanish TV 1985 if you haven't yet, it's their only good live performance online. Great renditions of Cathedral, Stagnant Pool and Sunlight Bathed...
>>66479831
still one of my favorite songs ever
>>66476890
Calvin's new single is pretty good.

Is
Velocity girl by Primal Scream considered twee pop?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8KynrRA1u8
bump for interesr
>>66481635
I'd say yes for velocity girl, not so sure about primal scream though
