So massive, so grand, so EPIC. From the moment his vocals started my eyes filled with tears. Fucking metal man...

**Doesn't have to be metal**, but I'm hoping /mu/ can bring me the same level of sanity-threatening awesomeness. Meanwhile I'll dig up a couple of other performances that have done that to me.

LOVED this one:

The flailing cry of trying and trying and trying to shake off this feeling that your life isn't working and you can't figure out why...

Born In Winter:
https://youtu.be/suG-c_i2fBQ

We came from absolutely nothing, the infinitely cold, assembled from drifting motes of dust, until cataclysmically we assembled into a "person", a "society", a "species". Never better captured in music and lyric. How dare I ever feel fear or apprehension?

k that's all that comes to mind in this moment...

My first thought was pic related LOL...

I hear why you like it though. Hypnotic as hell.

OP this is the first thing I've heard shared on this board that gave me chills it was so good. I would've missed this if not for you thank you sincerely.

Haha. Yup, Pickles was actually based on Devin. Brendon Small and Devin have actually worked together in the past as well and discussed the potential of merging Metalocalypse and Ziltoid. Sadly, nothing ever came to be.

You're absolutely welcome. It's moments like these that I remember music means something... this is important.

I think Brendon's done an amazing job with the Dethklok music but I wonder about the combination of the two... not to say they don't mesh because they ABSOLUTELY do (especially if you listen to Galactikon), but it's like... I suspect the end result would be two unbelievably talented artists creating a wall of noise that doesn't quite grab you by the balls.

It's a composition vs. performance issue... I tend to like music that encompasses a single vision, and with very very rare exceptions, that means one band leader.

Now I should probably think of an exception... OH! These guys, The Treasures:
https://youtu.be/aoWVAgSSOn0

Forgive the country (with this exception I'm not even usually a fan of the genre)... but fuck if they don't get everything 100% right by paying REAL close attention to working together towards a single goal.

This band... all at once comforting and lonely... it's a very Canadian phenomena I think.

Anyway I bring them up in this context because none of them I don't think are especially wonderful all by themselves, but they pay attention to creating a single thing as a group. Something about Brendon Small and Devin Townsend makes me think they'd get lost in the weeds a bit, end up with a wall of intricate noise that wouldn't evoke much feeling.

Never heard of the Treasures before and yeah not a big country fan of country either but fwiw that was a flawless performance

Yeah seriously right? I personally can't fucking stand country. Twang and formula, the worst kind of over-produced talentless nonsense... but these guys...

I saw them when they were headlining for someone else and bought the album right then and there. I ever buy CDs anymore, never buy country, but these guys... and the album is genius. Top to bottom. Highly recommend.
