Hey...come on...chill out with that dude...

Honest question: if Bowie hadn't died would people still consider yo be as good as they do now? Also checked.
>>66448831
which of Branca's symphonies are the best?
>>66448777
nice trips man. but honestly you can't shit on TGM if memestar is your aoty
>>66448931
Depends on what you're looking for. I mean, like yeah it's still minimalist inspired mostly guitars going at it, but he adds different instruments and tries nifty things out.
If you go to the archive, I have The Ascension and Lesson No. 1 along with all the Symphonies I think are worth checking out from the guy in a MEGA link that I have posted many times on this site before. It doesn't have Symphony No. 13 though cuz that was bootleg until now.

If he hadn't died and I hadn't cottoned on that the album was about the artist facing death, it'd still be in my Top 3 for being kick ass even without context. Bowie's death is an incredibly important part of the album, because that's what it's about - Lazarus especially touches upon how he thinks the world will react to his death. If he died after The Next Day, the hype over it would not have been warranted.
TL;DR - no, but it's warranted because the album's concept was relevant

I called that Blackstar would be AOTY back in late 2015 given how killer the title track release was. Even if Bowie didn't die, I'd still prefer it to TGM

I liked it when it leaked and he was still breathing, but I think his death did affect a lot of the reviews it got. Still a good album though senpai.

I was just curious how other people felt about it musically, rather than just on the themes, which were really strong with the album and what stuck with me the most. It's the only Bowie album I've ever heard, so maybe I just don't really get his style, but even then songs like Lazarus and the final track hit me pretty hard.

Even musically I prefer it to his other ones; even his 'new age' shit like Heroes and Low pale in comparison with their poppy tunes.
Here's a flowchart I found of how to get into Bowie. Though my favourite albums of his are his swansong 'Blackstar', his 90's industrial album '1. Outside' and his 00's return to form 'Heathen'
